Join the beta group as Andy suggested but in addition, I would suggest to set your Advanced Prefs message selection to FollowOnly with all its options checked instead of All messages (/helpcenter/membersmanual/1/controlling-the-volume-of-email-messages-you/following-or-unfollowing-topics-and-hashtags). This way you won't get every single message sent in beta in the digest or summary, you'll only get the thread/topic starter messages and then you can follow any topic that interests you. Re: Why is this an invalid email address
Many thanks for the swift reply. Follow-on question - is there an easy way for me to stay abreast of developments like this (without getting loads of emails)? We use the API from a membership system to add and remove group members and I will now have to make changes to that system to cater for thischange, and there will now also be discrepancies between that database and our groups.io forum. It would be good to be able to anticipate these things! Not a whinge, by the way... we love groups.io
Many thanks, Richard |
Why is this an invalid email address
Hi - I have a member whose address is info@.... If I try to add it to the group I get an error stating that it is an invalid email address. However, if I send an email to that address from my personal email it is received and can be replied to so clearly there is nothing actually wrong with that email address.
Any idea why groups.io thinks it is an invalid address? I've tried searching the owner's manual but can't find anything useful... Thanks, Richard |

That was my interpretation of it, but wanted to make sure before informing the subscriber Personally I have not seen any evidence of throttling on the groups.io side but take your point Much appreciated Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 17/04/2024 19:16, Bruce Bowman via groups.io wrote:

messages temporarily deferred ?
I have a subscriber who has been receiving posts out of order of their being posted, and some not received at all
In his Email delivery history under Most Recent Unsuccessful Attempts of which there are about 20 , this is the response message :- mx2c51.megamailservers.eu: 452 4.7.1 Your IP address has been temporarily deferred. can't find role of member on a group
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi all In my group that I created a while back, I could find a member and underneath was the headline that says ¡°Role¡± Then a dialog box would open if I expand this and I can make this member a ?owner or mod or keep them as a member. At times I only hear 2 out of the three choices I have, meaning my screen reader, Jaws will not read the third option. ? Now I moderate another group and when I went to change the role of a member, I don¡¯t hear this option any longer. So can someone please instruct me on how to change a member¡¯s status to owner or remove a current member to just member. I have been given permission to do this by our owner. I can ?have access to all the owner has , all but to delete the group. ? Thanks so much Sugar |

I am the Administrator for our?groups.io?site and have noticed that sometimes (but not every time) when a sender includes a photo in a message, that same photo also appears in the footer section of our email deliveries.Greg -- There are at least four different ways to attach/embed an image in an html email. See??for an overview.?I believe what you are referencing can occur when a photo is embedded as a CID image. In such cases, some mail clients may encounter the image data in a separate MIME part further down the message and render it a second time.? What you're seeing is what Bruce mentioned above, it does depend on the way the image was inserted/embedded into the message body, for example in Thunderbird it has this option (auto-defaulted to checked) when one wants to insert/embed an image inline: It also depends on the individual email client being used to (either send or) view the message, not all of them work 100% "correctly" regarding message formatting/displaying. I've also noticed it infrequently and it seems (in my experience) it's more prevalent in replies to messages which had inline embedded images referenced in separate mime parts. The good thing is that the image is not physically duplicated, at least the times I happened to check it through View Source. Also, just to make sure, the "attached" copies of the image are not included in the footer, they are just displayed at the end of the message body text so they appear to be part of the footer. Re: Member Not Receiving Messages from One Other Member
Andy, I was only typing the address here - as it appears on the message and not a reply - to see if that is the re-write format that is necessary to meet DMARC standards, since I was specifically asked by another member about it and didn't know how to respond. ?I am guessing that this is the case, since no one is confirming or denying here. Thank you for pointing out the "email delivery history" feature; despite checking the Help for admins, I did not see this before and so I didn't know about it. ?The message in question was not listed for the member who doesn't receive messages from the aol member. ?However, there was ANOTHER message that was recently snagged and the Response column says: ? Can anyone help me decipher this? ?I checked the reference link, which says?talks about formatting requirements for all senders to gmail. ?Wouldn't all list emails be formatted the same? ?This particular message was a legitimate email. Re: Member Not Receiving Messages from One Other Member
Thank you. ?I understand that there is a re-write of aol and yahoo members' email addresses. ?I was trying to troubleshoot why those re-writes appear with an embedded equals sign, and if that is standard (since I was asked about that). ?I'm guessing that this format IS the standard re-write format to meet the DMARC requirements.
