Re: Member Not Receiving Messages from One Other Member

groups.io keeps changing the address I type, making the '=' into '@'. ?I have a fundamental question about the re-writes of aol emails. ?

The aol member's address rewrites as: ?"[email protected]. ?NOTE that the EQUALS isn't spelled out, it's the symbol (=). ?Is this a standard DMARC rewrite for an aol address?

Re: Member Not Receiving Messages from One Other Member

Thank you. ?The member said they checked the spam folder and didn't find anything there. ?I'll see if I can get them to log into the webmail, although that may be a bit complicated for this particular member.

Re: Wrongly listed as a ... inactive Member

The only thing I found in Help is this:

Note: In the User Status column of the downloaded <members> list, a value of user_status_inactive means the user¡¯s Groups.io account was disabled by Groups.io management. The subscription records associated with an inactive account remain in the system and are accessible only by Groups.io management.

I also saw a discussion in Beta group about inactive and it might mean that the user has reported a message as spam and Groups.io was alerted in some way. As you know, Management has been extremely busy dealing with a company that deals with spam.

If this could be the case and it is unwarranted or by error in this case, you and the member could write to Admin and ask for her to be reinstated.

Re: Joining the subgroup directly still not possible?

Hi; I was just googling to try and understand present behaviour, and it seems we are still under a slightly odd situation:?

Subscribe+ e-mail results - if not already a Main Group member- they are added to the Main group, but not the sub group, despite receiving email saying they were confiming subscription to the sub group, and welcome to the sub group. They show up only in the subscribers list of the main group.

And then another subscribe+ email will add them to the sub group.

Apologies if I missed a more authoritative answer elsewhere...

Any insights or advice? Thanks!
-Daniel

Re: Member Not Receiving Messages from One Other Member

Gmail users also have "Categories" folders to check: "Social", "Updates", "Forums", and "Promotions".

Gmail sometimes 'helps' by putting messages in those.

Beth -- Have her log into GMail webmail (not a mail client) and go to???

Any blocked addresses and filters should show up there.?

Also, has she checked her Spam folder? If an email address has been blocked, that's where affected mail should land.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

No.? The checkbox only keeps them from editing their own message, not deleting it.

#message_deletion #message_deletion

We are a moderated listserv.? We just discovered that we have a member who is deleting her old posted messages.? Is there any way to stop this possibility of a member able to delete messages?? For editing, we have checked the box that says "Disable editing messages."? Does that really prevent a member from editing a posted message? ?

Can you please double-check that the member not receiving the emails has checked their Gmail account?

I am sure it isn't a Groups.io issue since there is no way your member can block individual members with Groups.io, just muted threads.

And I believe you checked in Admin, chosen the would-be recipients name and then Activity? Is there an error message from these specific messages?

But I don't see how Groups.io can cherry-pick just email from a specific member of your group.
I think it is with their Gmail account or with their internet service provider.?

Easiest to start with Gmail: for instructions, search in Google for: ?gmail see blocked contacts

Re: Member Not Receiving Messages from One Other Member

Thank you. ?So, the email address appears as "xxxx@...". ?(My comment didn't appear as I typed it earlier.). My question is whether the "=" sign could impact delivery for some members. ?Is this the standard DMARC-approved rewrite of the address? ?

You can't.? They're alphabetical (non-case sensitive) with the main group listed first, followed by subgroups (by Title).

You can also add subgroup categories.

I just tested and it seems capitalization of the subgroup name matters. If you capitalize the first letter of a subgroup name, it seems to display earlier. This may *not* be true, but seems to be the case. If you try this, please let us know.

Perhaps there is some kind of block on the AOL member's name.
"Block [this Sender]" is immediately below "Delete this Message" in GMail's pull-down menu. It would be easy to click one instead of the other.

Addresses can be rewritten by Groups.io due to DMARC policies. AOL is one of the providers where Groups.io needs to do this. See the FAQ on this.

I'm checking with the member about Settings, etc. ?Meanwhile, I discovered that the aol member's email address displays as "xxxx@..." and wondered if the "=" sign is the root of the problem. ?In a small random sample, I don't see other folks' emails displaying this way. ?If that is the problem, how would we fix that? ?I'm pretty sure (although not 100%) certain that the aol member didn't set the email address that way and other members do receive his massages.
