Tracking Info?

Is tracking information available in groups I manage? Things like # of active members, # of people reached or engaged on a post, # of people who clicked on a link in a post, etc.

There is in fact no group setting that would permit them to.

Moderating non-member messages is a nuisance, and I suggest just turning this off. GMF gets 25+ such emails a week, and all they do is generate a log entry.?

Re: block a sender across multiple groups?

Frances,

What I'm saying is - if a member's personal account gets infected, someone spoofs their address it could send the bike ads to the list and I wouldn't know it until after the deed was done.? All my passle of groups are history / genealogy related and mostly location specific.? A handful are surname related while not being location related.

My travel group got some eBike spam too, but last month. Since the group is moderated, it wasn't sent out to members. And this group (GMF) got some too. Again blocked.

I wonder why you think some member may click on something. Surely you don't approve the bike messages, not unless yours is a bike group?

I wouldn't worry too much. Worse things happen at sea!

Timothy,

To minimize this don't even bother asking these posters to stop.? Just keep them Moderated and then delete their posts without further comment.? And since they are moderated the rest of the membership won't see their posts.? That will make them give up eventually, especially if they get no feedback of any sort.

And when they sign up using a new email address if your group(s) is/are set up for all new members to be moderated (for up to four initial posts) you will be able to catch and delete any inappropriate posts from them.

Also there is also the option of setting a member to 'no posts allowed' which could be useful, too.

After enabling editing of *messages* by Group members, it was then possible for members to edit polls. Apparently prohibiting editing of messages also prohibits editing of polls, though that is surely not obvious. I'm not sure it is "right" either.

I just did it and had no problem after I adjusted a setting.? I had changed the hashtag #poll-notice so that only mods could use it.? Once I removed that, I was able to create and edit a poll using my member account.? Poll Editing

A member who just created a poll is unable to edit the poll, even though there have been no responses to the poll and it is not closed. He was permitted to delete the poll. He is using the same email address login when creating and trying to edit the poll. Why can't he edit the poll?

Your Google Pay may ask for one, but the Sponsorship form doesn't.

It definitely asks for a zip code.? I have seen some weirdness when my Google Pay auto filled the form.? It worked when I typed it all in manually.? I'll do some more checking, but it might have been user error.

Re: Sponsorships credit cards

If this is an issue, Canadians should try a ZIP of all zeroes. That works in some environments (gas pumps, for example).

Re: Sponsorships credit cards

On behalf of my company, I have paid the sponsorship for a group using a UK based credit card.? No problems with the payment at all.

I did some checking on this.? The Sponsorship page doesn't ask for a ZIP code.? Just a card number, expiration month/year, and the CVC code on the card.

Quite likely since international payments require a larger processing fee that groups.io would need to absorb.? I'll ask on the beta group just to be sure.

Does anyone know if this payment for sponsorships is limited to US zip codes?? I've had one Canadian member suggest that his zip code is not being accepted.

There's a group setting for this. Look at the final entry in the Privacy section.

Problem with email address when published

Hello

In edit mode, I have an email address that displays fine:

myemail@...?[Obfuscated by moderator]

but when I published, I got a truncated email address

myemail@...??[Also edited by moderator]

although the email I received of the post was fine.

[Example removed by Moderator]

Can anyone help please and tell me how to edit the message on the forum to display the email address correctly.

Thanks

PS Please don't be worried that my name and the email name is different. I'm publishing this message on behalf of another owner in the group.
