Re: email issue
p.s., it occurred to me that IO might be treating the main group as a subgroup. I had previously changed [email protected] to [email protected] and it is listed in the group site as the main group. Could IO be getting confused about this?

Minor Question
I primarily use SeaMonkey as my internet browser. I have the most recent version but sometimes it does not display a web site correctly and I have to go to using FireFox.
When I created the new IO group I did it in SeaMonkey. I uploaded am image to take the place of the default Elephants image. It displayed in SeaMonkey. Then I did some more fiddling around with the settings and deleted it. When I re-uploaded it again, it would not display in SeaMonkey. I now have to go to FireFox to see it as well as all the images I uploaded for the subgroups I created. What did I do that caused it not to display in SeaMonkey? As an aside, how can I make a cover image the same size as the Elephants image? Also, when I was exploring what all the options were for the uploaded cover image (by right clicking on the mouse) one of the options I clicked on wiped out the customized Windows background color. It reverted to the yukky gloomy default Windows background color. I had to go back and recreate the color I like. It also wiped out the custom cursors for the mouse. I had to go back and recreate them. I was surprised that IO would modify my Windows settings for features that are not part of the IO group. Does anyone know what happened here? Stan |

Hi Stan, Yes to number 1 and there is no little note like on Yahoo Groups. So your assumption on number 2 is correct. Paul, Ohio, USA |

particular email never showed up, it is 27 hours
now.
My personal email setting is Default.
I re-sent it and it appeared a few minutes later, and
other emails from me to my group have all turned up in a timely manner.
It turns out though that I never received another email
that someone else sent to the group, I saw it on the homepage messages... so it
is quite possible there is a problem with my Windows Live Mail.
I am having a LOT of problems at the moment because my
neighbour had a satellite broadband dish installed last week, and it seems to
over-ride MY wireless network. While I am detecting her signal in my Network
Connections list, it is impossible for me to do ANYTHING on the internet
successfully... web pages take more than a minute to load...
trying to download my emails times out at 5 minutes without being able to
download anything... if I am watching something on YouTube, it has to buffer
about every 40 seconds... downloads and uploads stop in the middle.
Once her network disappears from
the list, everything returns to normal... so I guess that my delayed mail
could have been caused by this, I was trying to send it while her
connection was visible.
?
Thanks for the suggestions...

I think we're seeing a pattern here and that this might be a new glitch in the system. Possibly there's some overload because of the deluge of groups? Norm, if you're the one who emailed me offlist about my response re the Help section (sorry, I forgot who it was), I was responding to the question about hashtag placement, not missing messages (and BTW I don't respond to questions offlist). I first noticed delayed messages in my group on Saturday afternoon and messaged Mark, who responded that it was due to several huge files being pushed through the system, which brought the email server down. He said all was fine after that, and it was, for my group. But since then, I've noticed a couple of people posting here about the same or similar problem. And yesterday, a member of my group posted a message and it never came through (and was also never logged). It just disappeared. I think this should be taken to support, possibly as some sort of group report. On Fri, Feb 16, 2018 at 4:39 AM, Southenders Admin <nnnlriep6@...> wrote: This is similar to what happened to me. Have a look at the recent conversation at /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/11459604? I think it will cover most of your questions.

You can see the groups you're subscribed to at / after you've signed in.? To see the recent posts, you can select All on the left menu there to be taken to /topics? It doesn't show the most recent snippets though.? That's been requested before, but I don't see it mentioned on the TODO list, https://trello.com/b/qu3WgzVq/beta

Database Row Ownership
#wiki
Steve Moss
Hi ya,
Thinking about taking our roster and converting from excel to a .io database table.? I noticed one feature of allowing users to create rows, but edit the rows they create. That's perfect for us.? BUT I need to be able to create a row for our member and assign him as the row owner.? Can this be done.? I don't want our admin to have to manage all the?phone number/address changes, but also don't want one user to be able to change the info for another.? Kind of related could it be possible later to make some columns editable by the row owner and others only by the moderators??? Thanks, Steve |
Re: Site Updates - How Does He Do It!

This brings up a concern I have. I have a small group here that is functioning well, and am on the edge of moving a larger one. But I'm reading about the (understandably) longer wait times and how Mark is "the" one who has to do so much. But what happens when the load doubles or triples? Is there a backup staff for when the backlog gets ridiculously long? It seems way too much to depend on only one person - is that literally the case? If we move here to escape the ridiculous amount of down time at Yahoo Groups, will we run into the same thing as groups.io growth explodes? (BTW, I'm old enough to have used egroups way back when.... even then we were sad when Yahoo took it over.)

Groups Home - Overview of groups and recent messages
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi, I am a long-term user/moderator/owner of Yahoo! Groups (and eGroups before that) and have just transferred one of my largest groups (nearly 1,500 members and 230,000 message). One of my users has pointed out that the quite useful overview of groups and messages called "Groups Home" does not seem to be available in groups.io. This view is easily seen by looking at this link if you still have an active registration with Yahoo! Groups :- You could always reach this by clicking on "Groups Home" at the top of the list of groups in the left-hand column. In groups.io, it could be the view, you get when you click on "Your Groups", or an item in the drop down list called "Groups Home".? It was useful for those that were members of only a few groups, some with low activity, and you could quickly check to see if there was any recent activity. If I have missed a link that gets me the equivalent overview in groups.io, please let me know.

Re: New Member message when joining a group
It's not currently available, but is on the TODO list, https://trello.com/c/iSkDckWb/120-request-custom-information-when-joining-track-information-per-subscriber
It was brought up again on beta@ a couple of days ago because of the many questions about it here, so Mark is certainly aware of the importance to some people.? A simplified version may be added, Duane -- Help: /static/help GMF's Wiki: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Search button at the top of Messages list |
saving updates to calendar
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI¡¯m apparently doing something wrong. If I enter a recurring calendar event, then go back and edit it and use the UPDATE ALL option, only the event I am updating gets updated. Any suggestions? ? Thanks! ? Bob |
