Re: Member removed due to SPAM

Califdan,

The last line in Christos' note is the most important because if the non-spam is just moved to in box, the email system will continue to mark any other emails as spam until it is "Taught" that they are not spam. This may take a few iterations depending on how many were marked as spam.

Yes, but that's the way many email services are set up.? Some, I think Yahoo is one, even tell members to mark things as spam if it's from a list they don't want to be on any more.

Re: Member removed due to SPAM

Califdan,

The person who reported it as spam may not know that their email client marked it as spam and the marking as spam may not have been in software in their PC.?

Their ISP may have been the culprit here and will need to be the one to remove the filter which marked it as spam. (I also do not see anything spam-like if the message.)?

Duane is spot on with; "Lots of detailed information can be found in the?Owners Manual?and?Members Manual."

Someone (you) posted the message, the person that received it marked it as spam, and they were removed from the group.? (Note that they marked it as spam, not that it necessarily was.)? They would have received a followup email letting them know and there's a link in it to resume membership.? If they did that before you looked, they'd still show as a member.? Thanks Duane.? ?

Sorry to be poorly informed, but if I understand you correctly, if someone sees something they think is SPAM and clicks a button to that effect, they (not the spammer) get's removed?? If that's the case it sure sounds odd to me.

Member removed due to SPAM

Hi,? I recieved an email that a member of my group was removed from the group due to SPAM.? However, the email I got referenced? a message with title "hello and Introduction" which is my welciome message to new members.?
Here's the email I got....

This is to notify you that wolfganggries@... has been unsubscribed from your group [email protected] because message Hello and introduction! was marked as spam. Note that this may have been done by their email service provider, not by the individual member personally. They've been given a link that lets them quickly resubscribe, in case this was an error.

If you have any questions, please visit our help center.

When I checked the "activity" in the group,? I see is this......

When I look at message #1788, (below) there is noting SPAM like in it and the Poster is not the person mentioned in the emial I got.

I'm very confused here.? Who posted the culprit message?? Who reported it as SPAM?? and who was removed from the group.?

the "Wolfgang...." email does not show up in my members list
"Sanja Kelly" still shows up as a member

That's normal for anyone with an email address on a service that uses DMARC.? It also adds "via groups.io" as you can see.? Using the normal reply button in the email avoids this because the Reply-To: header has the real email address.

Thread Reply: @ sign being replaced by an = sign

Hello,

I have had a few members' email addresses have the "@" sign replaced by an "=" sign. It has happened to various domains (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc).?

A thread has been going on for a few weeks, and then randomly, a member sends a reply, and a bounce back email states that it is undeliverable and reveals the member's address in the error message as having an = sign rather than an @ sign. (e.g., username=yahoo.com)

The reply address displayed in the reply email is:?"User Name - Title via groups.io" <username@...>

Re: Ampersand

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I haven't tried it and I don't know, but in some other situations as in coding when setting the caption or label for a control, if one is adding a single & and it doesn't show or it shows up as an underline, usually adding it inline twice as in && will fix that.

Cheers,
Christos

I think I will not bother adding this to the earlier request, because that request was from the previous owner of my group. Therefore, only one of the myriad groups appears to want the feature. Thank you for the the response.

Auto close has been asked for before, as well as auto-post, both at the , 5 years ago!? At least one other person would find it useful, so you can either add to that topic or start a new one.

Automatic Delayed Open/Close of Poll

I am the owner of a group that uses polls for attendance at virtual meetings 5 days of every month. I don't see anything in the documentation or the options to allow me to set up the polls ahead of time, and have the system open them on a specific day (when the #poll-notice would be sent to the members) and close on a specific day. If I missed it in the documentation, please point me in the right direction. If not, does it sound like something that would be of use to enough people to add it as a suggestion on Beta? Or does someone in this group with enough knowledge of the innards of groups.io know it would be difficult if not impossible to implement?

What if you don't do that and leave the quoted text hidden, can't you (or the mods) edit the message and delete all the extra space?? That should at least take care of the displaying part.
