Re: New subscriber notifications not being received

In Subscriptions, Under Moderator Notifications:
?
Members? ? Email and web/app ? ? Email only ? ? Web/App only ? ? None ?

How to be notified when a member joins/leaves this group.

Seems to me it should do what it says -- and what I select as the option.

Far better though would be for owners & moderators to have an option as to whether or not they receive notices of their own actions. I would turn it on.

Re: New subscriber notifications not being received

Hi Andy

Quite so, as I said previously I already have a second account which I have set for digest so I can see what that looks like and a few other tests, but will subscribe it as a second owner on all groups I have so will then receive the aforementioned new subscriber messages

Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK)

I guess you could have a second account as Mod, set to No Email for general messages but still receiving notifications for actions you completed on your other account.
Regards
Andy

Re: New subscriber notifications not being received

Hi Bruce

I guess its more what I have become used to, but also I kept the new subscriber notifications in Thunderbird and deleted the needs approval notifications, its a quick easy way to see the new subscribers rather than go to groups.io

Personally I would rather receive the notification but its not going to happen so will work around it

Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK)

With that concept in mind, removing the new subscriber notification for someone you just approved is a bugfix.

Bruce

If you delete a photo, you don't receive a notice of photo deletion. If you change a wiki page, you don't receive a notice that the page was updated. In principle, you should not receive any notifications on things you do yourself, because...well, you did it, so you should already know.

With that concept in mind, removing the new subscriber notification for someone you just approved is a bugfix.

Re: New subscriber notifications not being received

Thanks for that Duane

I can see now why I hadn't noticed it was missing, as I have two accounts for one group, one primary the other to test, check the digest etc and am receiving the New Subscriber notifications on that account but not the primary

Not sure I understand why they were stopped? yes I approve a new subscriber but why stop the notification that they are subscribed?

But never mind I am sure Mark has better things to do, I suppose I will have to subscribe the second account to all the groups I have to receive the notification of new subscriber

New subscriber notifications not being received

Has anyone noticed they are not receiving new subscriber notifications?

I am receiving the Subscription Approval Needed notifications (by email) but when I approve the application I am not receiving the New Subscriber Notification which I used to

Not sure if any others are not being received as yet

Has there been any change in notifications being sent?

Re: 30-day send me a link to login fails to keep me on logged in

Thanks everyone it probably is the login cookies I haven't no only updated my Google Chrome but it might have happened and I have rebooted my system a couple of times on the phone when I get a chance I'll look at it right now I have to put up with it because I've been horizontal for the last 2 months and just kind of a user of systems rather than a mover and shaker again thank you

Kathrynne. -- You can always just have him send an email to the +subscribe address ( /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/additional-information/standard-group-email-addresses?). This may be preferable to spinning your wheels over invitations.

Bob -- I'm inclined to agree with Andy that the login cookie is being deleted between sessions.?

See??for instructions from Google with respect to how to change your cookie settings.

It's actually quite common for browser cookie settings to have a different default on a handheld device (phone or tablet). This keeps other people from gaining access to your accounts if you should lose it...with the understanding that desktop computers aren't so prone to being misplaced.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

No, I know I'm running standard Chrome up to date on my android phone cause when I.m on my laptop, I don't have the problem.
in fact I can go on my laptop right after cause I'm still logged in there.
Possibly can only be logged into one system
Bob, so you have no problem on your laptop. You do have a problem when you use your android phone.

The help says:
?
The login cookie expires in 30 days, but each visit to a group website extends the 30-day timeout period.
If you delete your browser cookies (or your security software deletes them), you will be logged out.
If your browser is set to delete cookies on exit, you will be logged out.
If your browser is set to Private Browsing, you must log in again.
?
Could you describe what happens when you use your phone? Ignore your laptop since you said it works fine there.
You also said that you are using standard Chrome on your phone.

Frances?

I don't think that's the case. I am logged in on my laptop, the mobile app and another browser on a tablet all at the same time.

Thank you Bruce - I investigated, and found I did not realize one person has 2 email addresses, I used the wrong one. The other does not appear to be a member but will try to contact her for more information. I really appreciate your help. -Kathrynne
