Re: Legacy Group pricing

Re: Legacy Group pricing
Wayne (Reed) Knazek
I have 2 questions . . . I think I messed up, and it's costing us! When we joined about a year and a half ago, it was because YahooGroops went belly up. I did a lot of research to find a new home for our group. And Groups.io was highly recommended by some of our members. I really don't recall there being a limit to members for a free acct. at that time.? We started the group with over 100 members! But there could have been. Then one day in February, one of our owners emailed me and said . . . We have a problem! We're not allowed to have more than 100 members in our free account! And we have grown to 200.? We were afraid we'd one day find out our group got shut down for violating the rules, and immediately paid $220 for a year's upgrade. Our group isn't monetized. And only 2 of us are paying the fee. 1). Was the 100 member rule added after we joined? And therefore we were grandfathered in. But didn't know it? 2). If we did have to upgrade, were we supposed to get a lower price if we joined before that rule went into effect? ?Wayne? The MidKar Group |

James, not an answer to your question - you got it already.
But there are ways you can get help from your group to help defray the costs. See?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/using-the-sponsorship-feature-to-defray-groups There is also the Donation feature for premium and enterprise groups. /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/taking-donations-and-reviewing-payment-activity Frances -- Help available from Groups.io help and GMF wiki. ? |

Legacy Group pricing
James Small
I am the owner of the amateur astronomy group called MSRAL
We were part of the yahoo groups for more than 25 years. When we migrated to Groups.io, I didn't establish the pricing... Is it possible to get the legacy price of $110 for the premium level like I do with the Slasdialogs group? You can send an email to me about it if you want. Thanks for your time and consideration. Re: member cannot log in
A passing possible explanation: I've had similar problems, not with groups.io, when I managed to enter invisible non-printing characters into an address that was subsequently stored in my browser cache. Drove me crazy until I happened to view the address in hex mode in Emacs. Served me right for trying to get fancy with a script. Now, one of my first suggestions whenever something is acting strange in a browser is to clear the cache and re-enter.
Best, Marv |
Re: member cannot log in
You may want to remind your member that logging ?in through requesting a link is a standard way of getting to your group homepage. Clicking on the emailed link logs you in for 30 days on that device and that browser. It relies on cookies and auto-renews for 30 days when you visit the site. See?the help page:

Re: member cannot log in
Thank you Francis and Bruce for your replies.? Sorry for not responding earlier but it took a while to get this resolved.
I shared your suggestions with the member but he indicated that these did not work for him. We mutually agreed to try removing and then re-adding him.? At first he indicated that even that didn't help, but then he wrote: "Not really sure what fixed it but things started working all of a sudden this morning after I followed request to request a login code." So I'm not sure what made things right, but he can now log-in again. Peter |
Re: "Mask addresses in archive" not masking the munged addresses?
Christos,
Duane, what I mean is that the GIO-munged address is allowed toThere's an exclusion from masking addresses in the groups.io domain. Because those are (were) never user addresses. This predates the munging of addresses for DMARC. So it appears that's a loophole of sorts, I'd say the exclusion should be modified to recognize munged format and mask them accordingly. Re: new member notification
Wayne (Reed) Knazek
Thank you Frances and Andy! I apologize for my senior moment! LOL I missed that member notification tab when looking for the welcome message. Apparently I knew about it initially because I added a personal message to it when we first started the group. Your help is appreciated! Wayne

Re: Trouble with member trying to get back on a group with outlook.com
Andy's point is important though - the member needn't have created a new account.
"If she wants to change her GMail address to an Outrlook address, there should be no need 'to join again'. ?Simply ask her to login with her GMail address and then view her account details and in the Login tab, change the email address. An email will be sent by Groups.io to the new address and she will need to respond to that. Once that is done, Groups.io will transfer all her subscription settings to the new address. ?This is described in the Member's Manual at /helpcenter/membersmanual/1/understanding-groups-io-accounts/setting-account-preferences-and-viewing-account-information? ?The issue with that member with outlook.com has been resolvedTelling us what the underlying problem was would be much more useful than just saying it's resolved.? It could help someone else in the future. Yes, please tell us, as it also helps the ones who replied with suggestions so they know which one worked. Cheers, Christos |
