Re: Signature Line

I like to have the members post their signature such as doctor, device, and date of surgery. I have them go to their profile page and at the bottom there is an area to put this information so it shows up automatically after each post. However, after the member tells me they put this information in this area, it was not coming up after their post. Am I missing something? I have mine and it is printing.

thank you,

Move messages from main to subgroup #subgroup

I have searched around and see\ topics going back to 2019, 2017, and beyond, but I see no recent answer to whether is is now possible to easily move messages, in bulk, from main into a subgroup? Here is an example previous question:
/g/GroupManagersForum/message/23500

Where are we in 2022? My need here is to convert my main group completely into a subgroup for more consistent management, keeping the main as just a membership umbrella for different subgroups. My main is already functioning as a subgroup, where only a subset of membership posts/receives, but I have to manually control individual post/receive attributes to accomplish this. I have proper subgroups for other subsets, but I did not expect this issue when first setting up the initial group. I don't want to lose all the history if I move all the relevant members to a new subgroup and so I want to move all the messages. Any hope? Thanks.

I am assuming that you can see the poll in your home screen and you have created a poll.
Members must log in to their Groups.io accounts to vote in polls. Members cannot participate in polls by email.

Can't get list of groups

In our GMF Wiki, it says "There's an easy way to get a list of which groups an email address (account) is subscribed to.? Send an email to a nonexistent group. It will bounce with a 510 error that includes a list of all groups that address belongs to."? In trying to help a member of one of my groups, I tried this and it doesn't include a list of groups in the bounce message.? I'm sure I've done this before and it worked.? If others are seeing the same thing, I'll post a #bug on beta.

Thanks,

If they go to their groups overview page, /groups, they'll see the badge next to the group's name, if there is one.

Do they get a message that their status has changed?
No, a notification is not sent to anyone when their status changes.

Do they get a message that their status has changed?

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be one place on GIO where all the information can be found.? I'm not much of a DMARC person, so about the best thing I can think of is for you to go through the topic at /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/75997052.? It looks like it was resolved there, so may give you some ideas.

Re: How to Pass DMARC?

Thank you for the response. Yes, I can see that more information is required.

I looked at the groups.io website Help section and didn't find anything useful. It seems to provide basic information and then recommends this group for more technical questions. If you could point me toward actual groups.io DMARC documentation that would be great.

Additional Background

I'm not a group owner; rather, I'm a user. But the majority of the historical DMARC questions were in this group so I posted here.

The problem is that when I, as user@..., post a message via email, groups.io then sends out a bunch of emails in my name and they all fail DMARC validation and I get a ton of DMARC failures.

Question #1 (DMARC)

Yesterday I changed my disposition from 'none' to 'quarantine'. If I read your reply correctly, that may solve my problem. Is that correct?

Question #2 (SPF)

What about SPF? Is it recommended to add the groups.io mail servers to the SPF record? I found conflicting answers during my search.

If so, what are the current mail server IPs?

Closing

Thank you so much! I'd like to get this resolved and it seems like I'm in the right place.

It sounds like you have a domain with an email server that's not accepting emails from Groups.io.? GIO only changes the from address to be "via groups.io" when the expected destination is a known DMARC entity with a setting other than p=none.? If your email server has a DMARC of p=reject or p=quarantine, the solution may be as simple as notifying [email protected] and they'll rewrite headers for all messages sent to it.?

If that's not what you need to know, a bit more detail might help.

How to Pass DMARC?

I've searched and there is a lot of partial information on this topic. But I couldn't find a single guide saying: "Here's how to pass DMARC when Groups.io sends emails in your name".

Is it even possible?

I have complete control over my domain and can create a dedicated subdomain to get the alignment right, if necessary.

Thanks in advance!

The group title can be whatever you want. You can go to Settings and change the Group Title.
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/12672

You can rename a group as well. But there are cautions.

I assume so. Unbanning isn't straightforward though. The "unbanned" person needs to rejoin after being unbanned.?
See Help -?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-members/banning-and-unbanning-members?single=true

There are other options other than banning - setting to moderation and removing members.
See?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-members/removing-members?single=true

If anyone has more information about moderator privileges, please chime in.

I should modify that. An existing hashtag can also have a "topic duration" that establishes some period of time after which the topic is locked. So it doesn't have to be "immediate."

But in practice, Members remain unable to create hashtags with these properties. A Mod/Owner has to set it all up.
