What does a moderated member see?If they go to their groups overview page, /groups, they'll see the badge next to the group's name, if there is one. Re: How to Pass DMARC?
Thank you for the response. Yes, I can see that more information is required.
I looked at the groups.io website Help section and didn't find anything useful. It seems to provide basic information and then recommends this group for more technical questions. If you could point me toward actual groups.io DMARC documentation that would be great. Additional Background I'm not a group owner; rather, I'm a user. But the majority of the historical DMARC questions were in this group so I posted here. The problem is that when I, as user@..., post a message via email, groups.io then sends out a bunch of emails in my name and they all fail DMARC validation and I get a ton of DMARC failures. Question #1 (DMARC) Yesterday I changed my disposition from 'none' to 'quarantine'. If I read your reply correctly, that may solve my problem. Is that correct? Question #2 (SPF) What about SPF? Is it recommended to add the groups.io mail servers to the SPF record? I found conflicting answers during my search. If so, what are the current mail server IPs? Closing Thank you so much! I'd like to get this resolved and it seems like I'm in the right place. -- Chad |

I couldn't find a single guide saying: "Here's how to pass DMARC when Groups.io sends emails in your name".It sounds like you have a domain with an email server that's not accepting emails from Groups.io.? GIO only changes the from address to be "via groups.io" when the expected destination is a known DMARC entity with a setting other than p=none.? If your email server has a DMARC of p=reject or p=quarantine, the solution may be as simple as notifying [email protected] and they'll rewrite headers for all messages sent to it.? If that's not what you need to know, a bit more detail might help. Duane -- Lots of detailed information can be found in the Owners Manual and Members Manual. |
How to Pass DMARC?
I've searched and there is a lot of partial information on this topic. But I couldn't find a single guide saying: "Here's how to pass DMARC when Groups.io sends emails in your name".
Is it even possible? I have complete control over my domain and can create a dedicated subdomain to get the alignment right, if necessary. Thanks in advance! -- Chad Cloman |

locked topics definitely does not work. Are they really in the same topic? Or do they just have the same subject line? It's not the same thing. See /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/additional-information/topic-threading-algorithm for more info on how incoming messages are threaded. If they are?in the same topic, my guess is that your Moderators/co-Owners are the ones who are doing it. Such folks can post to locked topics, and I'm not particularly fond of that, either. I posted a suggestion to change this behavior (??), but it never got much traction. Frankly, there is no reliable way to lock a topic that cannot be circumvented by an enterprising member. The only thing you can do is put repeat offenders on moderation. Regards, Bruce Check out the groups.io Help Center?and?groups.io Owners Manual |

locked topics definitely does not work. i have locked several topics on my group. People reply to that locked message and they are all on the same thread.Help says: Members who send email replies to a locked topic receive an automatic delivery failure notice stating that the topic is locked. Group owners and moderators are able to reply to a locked topic (by email or on the group¡¯s website) without having to unlock the topic first and then relock it after posting their reply. Be aware that if the locked topic is also a moderated topic, those replies go through moderation. Notice that group owners and moderators can reply to locked topics. I just tested and it works for me. Only my owner email worked and an email address with regular member privileges doesn't work. Of course, subtle changes to a subject line doesn't get stopped by the locking. If you are getting messages through that are locked, send us the two subject lines. Perhaps we can see the differences.
