Re: A few questions please
Mindy,
1) How can you change the subject line of a rejected post? (so itI wish you could. I could have sworn I'd requested it in beta, but maybe I've just thought of it so many times. What I do as a work-around is use Send Message instead, and if appropriate just Delete the pending message. The disadvantage is that it doesn't act as a Reply (that's a suggestion I've been intending to post in beta) so if you want to quote the member's post you have to copy it first, then click Send Message, paste it in the body, and mark it as a quote. A bit of a pain. 3) The daily digest on io is very short, I am getting several a day.Are you looking at the list at the top of the digest? That is a list of topic headings. If a topic has a number in parenthesis on it then it contains more than one message. Add those up, including the implicit (1) for topics with a single message. If that doesn't equal 12, and if this isn't the last Digest you received that day for that group, then that would seem to be a bug to report to support. Is there a way to set how many new messages it has?No. 5) When a message is received, it shows as sent to the group, as wellOdd, I'm not seeing that in my email client (Thunderbird) nor in Gmail's web interface. I'm not sure what's going on there. Shal |

A few questions please
Group Moderator
Hi, we are looking at switching over very soon, and the advice on this group is amazing! A few questions, please:
?
1) How can you change the subject line of a rejected post? (so it doesn't say "Your message was rejected" but something more gentle).?
?
2) Is there a way to only include the footer on posts, and not on emails sent to a member from the pending page?
?
3) The daily digest on io is very short, I am getting several a day. It says "up to 12 messages" but these have fewer messages in each (on average 7). Is there a way to set how many new messages it has??
?
4) The daily summary is better in that regard (just one email per day) but not so useful for my members, since you need to click on each message to see it. I fear it will just get skipped. Has there been any talk about making it scrollable like on YG currently?
?
5) When a message is received, it shows as sent to the group, as well as CC'ed to the group. I only get one copy though. Does this always happen? Is there a setting to change? Does it matter?
?
(I don't know if any of these things are better addressed in the Beta group)
?
And LOL - pretty much all the talk on the GMF of YG is about what's going wrong...
?
Thank you! Mindy |
Photo Album Ownership
We have a lot of Photo Albums in our group, and these were set up by members when we were on YG. I've noticed going through many of the albums, and looking at some of the pictures in those albums, at the bottom of the picture it displays my name (Owner/Moderator) instead of the person that really put those pictures in the album to begin with. How can I get the rightful ownership of those albums and pictures back to their owners?

Re: Individual vs Digest messages - links at bottom of emails differ
Dotty,
I would particularly like to see a link to Group Home.Mark may have been too clever by half. The group's email address appears in the Digest header and the footer, and it is a link - to the group's home page. That leaves: Contact Group Owner Terms Of Service I agree that not having those seems like an oversight. I encourage you to suggest them in the beta group. Shal |

Yes, that's exactly how it works.? On Sat, Feb 3, 2018 at 3:59 PM, Ginny T. <gttemari21@...> wrote: Hi everyone, |
Explain Special Notice?
Hi everyone,
As "duh" as this sounds, could someone definitively explain how the Special Notice option works? I know how to do it - I'm just confused about how it is delivered. I thought it was to deliver to everyone, regardless of delivery option, other than those with "No Email". The purpose being, I thought, was to not only to immediately deliver the note that is the Special Notice to those receiving individual emails but also to those on digest option, so as to avoid the "digest delay". Now I'm hearing rumors that that is not how it works. Help? Thanks much, Ginny |
Individual vs Digest messages - links at bottom of emails differ
I've noticed that there is a set of links available at the bottom of Individual messages from groups.io, that do not appear at the bottom of Digest messages.?
The Individual messages have the standard reply options (View/Reply online, Reply to Group, Reply to Sender, Mute this Topic, New Topic).? Then below that, there are the additional options (Change Subscription, Group Home, Contact Group Owner, Terms of Service, Unsubscribe).? When messages are received in Digest form, there are the standard reply options listed under each message.? But the additional options available in Individual form, are not shown below the final message in the Digest.? There does appear at the very top of the Digest, the link to Change Subscription.? And at the very bottom, a link to Unsubscribe.? I think the additional options should be added to the bottom of the Digest form, as they could be useful to any subscribers, regardless of their choice of message delivery. I would particularly like to see a link to Group Home.? I keep getting questions from my "older" members (I'm one of them), who aren't sure how to get to the website to view photos or files that are mentioned in their email messages.? They were used to clicking on the thumbnails in the Y!Group Update messages that told them photos had been added.? (One of the few things about Y! that I miss.? That, and the options for reorganizing photos.? But I understand those things are perhaps on the ToDo list.) I checked the settings for my group, to make sure there was nothing i could change.? I also have a couple of test subscriptions so that I can see messages as non-owners are seeing them, both on Individual and Digest delivery.? Am I missing something? Dotty |
Re: Question: Archives, Subscription Options, Icons on Front Page, Time Stamps
Sharon,
1. Archives ¡ª How long are messages in the archives preserved?Indefinitely. As long as Groups.io remains in business I think. 2. Subscription Options -- I want to be able to send special noticesThere's a "Disable No Email" group option so that members would have to select at least Special Notices. Of course, you can't be sure that members look at their inbox, or don't have a mail filter, etc. 3. Subscription Options ¡ª who can send special notices? Everyone,Moderators. 4. Group Settings ¡ª Under Group settings the icons are confusing:And pretty much meaningless. I think they were originally intended to match the option - as the reverse arrow suggests "reply". But Mark soon ran out of icons, and/or imagination. 5. Subgrouos ¡ª Can main group members send messages to a subgroup IfOptional, sort-of. Subgroups have the "Allow Non Subscribers to Post" option just like primary groups, but it works the same - allows anyone (general public) to post (all such postings are moderated). I've asked for a subgroup setting to specifically allow primary group members to post unmoderated, but it was a side conversation under a different topic. So perhaps it should be raised again in a topic of its own. 6. Time Stamps ¡ª Several members of our Tech Pod were going throughNo. Each member sees times expressed in their own time zone, per their Account setting. Shal |
Re: Messages from pending members
Mike,
... And I changed the "Welcome" statement by asking them ...Instead of asking in your Welcome message, you could create a "Pending Subscription" member notice. That will be sent when they apply for membership. Then you can leave their application pending until you get their reply. /static/help#membernotices Shal |

Re: Messages from pending members
Mike Conder
I agree that this Yahoo is useful, but right now I'm doing something similar by making all new member's first posts moderated.? And I changed the "Welcome" statement by asking them what the letters RGS stand for, as only true fans of this will know the answer.? Not perfect, but better than nothing. I would much prefer to get this message to the new applicant BEFORE he joins the group, not after.?? Mike Conder |
