How much space are you using

For those of you that want to know how much disk space you are using.
You can select Admin and then Billing to view your account information. At the top of the page is your Plan and how much space is available. I have a premium site that shows me Using 638 MB total storage out of 20GB. |
Deleting part of the archive?
When I moved my very large Freecycle group from Yahoo, I only transferred the most recent couple of years.? I would like to trim the size of the archives here on Groups.io, to contain only the last couple of years.? Messages are ephemeral on Freecycle, so postings from 2017 are pretty irrelevant.? I am assuming that the only way to shrink the size of my archive is one message at a time?? I think there are about 38,000 messages in the archive at the moment.

Actually, I specifically permitted this particular moderator to invite new members. I did ask her to let me know when she did that, but apparently she forgot. I think adding additional log entries is probably a better approach than restricting a moderator's privileges. I don't really monitor stuff in the subgroups very closely, to the extent it's separate from the main group. They're specialists, with particular concerns. When yahoo was operational, they were entirely separate from my group. I took them under my wing when the leaders of those once-separate groups came looking for advice / help about a year ago. "not taking off"
From: Chris Jones <chrisjones12@...> Looking at the publicly listed groups there seem to be > a lot that simply don't seem to take off, and languish > there with but a handful of members and minimal or no > activity. This was to be expected. A lot of groups lost significant numbers of subscribers because those did not bother to move to the new groups, and some groups were created "just in case". Sometimes different people created different groups to take over the functions of the same yahoogroup, sometimes the owner of the original group found a place outside groups.io Some groups will slowly grow, others may be repurposed eventually. I don't see dormant groups as a problem, especially not if their websites point people to an active one I don't necessarily see people who lurk as a problem either. If a group has hundreds or thousands of subscribers, over half of them not posting stuff is a good thing. groetjes/?is, Ronaldo |

Re: Not Getting Some E-mails
Hi, I was having the same issue a couple days ago but they ended up showing up later. So there might just be a hiccup in the system.

Not Getting Some E-mails
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
Hi,
I suspect the problem may be with Hotmail, but I thought I would ask here in case it is not.? Recently two members of my group sent e-mails that I did not receive, although others in the group have gotten them, and I am receiving replies to those e-mails.?
They are in the Activity Log as being sent, which, of course, makes sense.? I am the group owner and I'm set to receive all e-mails, which I do, except for these two recent ones.? I have checked my Junk/Spam folders and they are not there.? I suspect that
Hotmail may be blocking them? One is from an sbcglobal.net account and the other is from a charter.net account.
If it's not Hotmail, is there some other explanation?
Thanks!

Change to options in free basic groups?
Just recently, our non-profit organization has experienced a change in creating a free basic group. We no longer have the ability to upload files to our group. Has there been a change to the options for the free groups? We can see a pull-down for "upgrade" and the files option is listed there, but we cannot access it. Thanks for any help you can give.

Re: Email Full
Which is why you should not click on a link on an unsolicited email.

If one triggers an email exchange, such as subscribing to a group, then the confirmation is triggered, and if the link in that email looks legit, it might be OK to click (review raw text of email to confirm), though in many cases it is sufficient to respond to the confirmation email. If an email is unsolicited, unexpected, kinda a surprise thing, do not click. Duane wrote: On Fri, Jan 8, 2021 at 08:09 AM, Green Gate Grove wrote: |

Re: Email Full
Is there a summary of stats on a group in one place? It would show things
like number of members, messages, space used for different things, etc... Right now I find I have to hop around to figure out those things. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.org www.syracusemodelrr.org |

Whilst it *may* be a phishing mail of a kind it is also possible your online inbox *is* getting near full

Although as I have 1TB of storage I suspect you will too and its unlikely that you have reached that Do not click any link in the warning email but go online and check your Yahoo mailbox Go to settings then more settings Bottom left is the size of storage and the percentage you have reached Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 08/01/2021 13:15, Green Gate Grove via groups.io wrote:

Re: Email Full
Sounds if your files/email archive storage is full. Find out by logging into GIO (always from your browser's address bar or bookmarks, never ever from a link in a potentially unsolicited email), check storage.

If a person is direct added to the main group we also add them to 4-5 subgroups depending on requirements. It sounds like we have a similar set-up. We have a pre-approved club membership list which is managed externally to Groups.io. As people join, they are Direct Added to our main group and relevant subgroups and as they leave they are removed.? Allowing subgroup Mods to invite people to a subgroup means they are added to the main group and therefore the Mods have an element of control over the main group that we do not want. Andy |
