Re: #issue #invitation

Neill,
I would like to offer the "+subscribe" method to individuals who haveI assume you mean the former Yahoo group... I tested it with a friend using the syntax: ...As Duane said, that should work. But note, the person sending to the +subscribe address must receive and respond to a confirmation request sent from Groups.io. Absent their confirmation nothing else happens: no activity log entry, no Pending Member entry. If that person doesn't promptly receive the confirmation request in their Inbox, they should check their Spam folder, Junk folder, or wherever else their email service may have diverted the message. I couldn't find a relevant entry in the Help section./helpcenter/membersmanual/1/joining-groups/joining-a-group-by-email /helpcenter/membersmanual/1/joining-groups/responding-to-a-confirm-your-subscription-message /helpcenter/membersmanual/1/additional-information/standard-group-email-addresses Shal -- Help: /helpcenter More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Moderator reinstatement after spam marking
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý[Sorry if this has already been discussed.? I made an attempt to search
archives for an answer, to no avail.]
If a member is removed for marking a message as spam (or a message
was marked as such on his behalf), and does not click the reinstatement
link within 7 days, can the member or moderator reinstate or generate a
new link, or is just a new subscription?
Thanks!

Unwanted mail in group
Jan Winspear
I haven't been on here in a while and I apologise if this has already been addressed -
just recently I have received for approval messages from what appears to be advertising? and definitely not members so I wondered if others had received these and if there is anything I can do to stop the annoying mails - I always reject them but it doesn't seem to stop them - it only seems to be happening on one of my groups - Casmet Card and Craft exchange Thank you in advance for any help. Re: Invite template message
Augusto Ciuffoletti
So I'll tell you what my workaround is. Instead of inviting people using the web interface, I send them messages?explaining?the subscription process: send and email, wait for confirm, reply. In my mind, this is by far more straightforward than suggesting people to use a translator or highlighting text in the invite e-mail. But it requires four messages, instead of two, and so I suggest you to consider the possibility of either g¨¬ving the admin the possibility to override the templates, or provide a range of localizations. Translators may help to bulk-produce them.?? Well, this doesn't fix the English language in the invite message but it deals with some of the problems.
There are lines that separate the words you add to the template - above and below. You can use colour for your added text. (I would be sparing though!) You can change fonts using formats. You can make your section stand out. I just tested again sending an invitation to a Gmail account and the red and Header 1 font works fine.? So perhaps you might fool around with the capability that is there. Frances -- Help available from Groups.io help and GMF wiki. ? |
Re: Invite template message
I'm not a languages type person, but I would test something like the
different web translators against the boiler plate English content. If that was reasonably close to right, I'd put the instructions for how to do that in the local language part of the custom message to the users. I'd acknowledge what the English part is trying to say and how this gives them a way to read it. If the translator didn't do a good job, then I'd paraphrase what it I saying but include text that the boilerplate is the legally binding part and your paraphrasing is an attempt to give it a local language help. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.org www.syracusemodelrr.org |

Invite template message
Informatica - AOS
As I see, all standard messages (invite, etc.) have a part that I cannot change, and an optional part that I can compose. My problem is that my group speaks Italian, and some prospective members may not be proficient in English. An invite starting in English is confusing for such a reader, even if I add a optional part in Italian. Is there a way to remove the English part of such messages, or maybe to have a localized version of ? Thank you Augusto Ciuffoletti Oratorio del Santissimo |
