Is your group a Restricted group?

The Help says: ?"In a restricted membership group, the group owner can choose whether to allow the members of the group to see the member list. If a Members entry appears in the left navigation on the group¡¯s website, the owner has allowed group members to see the member list. Click the Members entry to view the list."

Check what your Spam Control setting is in Admin, Settings.

Hashtag bug #hashtags

Before I report this on the beta group let me know if it makes sense, or if you have any insight.
?
If a subject line includes a string preceded by the # symbol, and ending with a punctuation mark, the string will not be recognized as a hashtag.?
?
If the group's hashtag permission is set to "Messages from members can only be tagged with existing hashtags, new hashtags will be removed," the message will not be bounced, and the string will still not be recognized as a hashtag.
?
(Yes, "bounced" is used incorrectly here; I'm just using the same terminology that is used on the settings page.)

To clarify: The member list and the directory are two different things. For what you want, go to Admin > Settings > Privacy > Member List Visibility > change to "Members."

Boosh,

Frances, I changed the setting to allow members to see the member list.?

?

When one of the members went to see the list of others on the list, they could only see their own name¡as below:?

In your screenshot, Fred is looking at the group's Directory, not its Members list. Those are separate pages.

The list of pages on the left in your screen shot does not include the Members list, so either it was taken before you changed the setting, or the setting didn't "take", or Fred needs to refresh his browser window. It should look like this:

The Members list is controlled in the Privacy panel of your group's Settings page. The Directory is controlled in the Features panel.

?Any ideas why they can only see their name??

Apparently no other group members have set their Profile to allow access by other members. That's a Profile setting that each member must set for themselves, the default is that only group owners/moderators can see a member's profile.

Re: Making the members list visible/invisible.

I was a bit sloppy with language.

There is Members in Admin. ?(Members List)
And there is Directory.?
See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/6114

You can allow members in your family group to see the Members List if you wish. Unusual but possible.
That wiki page says this:

If you as an Owner want members to be able to "see" every other member in the group without forcing everyone to jump through the profile hoop, you must make the member list visible. Doing so will not give Subscribers access to the underlying information, however -- only the "stuff" that appears in the main index (Display Name, Message Delivery, Email Address, and Join Date). This can only be done if you first select the Restricted method of Spam Control.

Up to you!

Boosh

Only those who allow other members to see their address are listed here. And if a member doesn't allow other members, they don't see any either.

See Help for more details and exact language!?
/helpcenter/membersmanual/1/viewing-the-directory?single=true

Members can allow themselves to be viewed by others (depending on the settings the owner has made) by going to the group homepage, clicking on Subscription (left), then on Group Profile, Edit Group Profile, Profile Privacy.
You can also go to your name - top right, account, Identity, and you will see all groups your belong to with that email address. You can edit the first one (general one) that has a note:?Changes made to this profile will also be made to each group profile, with the exception of those fields that you have previously customized in each group profile. To edit those customized fields please go to the specific group profile and click "edit"

Or do each group you belong to individually. Tailor it to the group.

Frances

I am assuming you have a restricted group.

You can make the member list (in Admin) available to all group members, if you wish. Only group members, not the public, can see it. Go to Admin, Settings, Privacy.
See this help page -?/helpcenter/gettingstarted/1/step-4-customize-the-group-s-settings/group-settings

In my family group, I have allowed members to see the member list. However all members are also in Directory.

Re: Determining active members (and removing the inactive)xxxx

Ok I haven't had to wonder about this but someone just emailed me mad as a hornets nest. He was one that creates groups then gets mad and deletes them. So after a few months he has decided to create a new IO group. He was so mad because they wanted money.and his group would only be like 15 people and they are singling him out. Yeah I know? I bet some even know who I am talking about . But anyway mi ne are all grandfathered in and dont have to pay so? what are the rules now?? Just to create a group be it one or 1000 now you pay to have it? How much is it? I told him I would check it out for him but that I assumed because Yahoo shut groups down IO website started the pay for service??

Group Default Subscription Settings

I just realized we could set default subscription settings for the group for email delivery fo all to go to Summary email.
I assume that an individual member can change it to another option in their own subscription setting.?
We've recently brought a large number of new members on board who are default set to individual messages.
If I change the default to Daily Summary, will it change everyone now??
Will it over ride those who have changed their subsctipyion settings to a different digest, no mail, etc.?

Thank you!

Re: Changing Members Email address

Edited

If you have a premium or enterprise Group Plan, you can change a member's email address for them. (Not the free month trial premium).

Otherwise members must change it themselves. You can send them the instructions - direct them to 3.4.2
