Re: Bouncing due to a message from GMF!
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi, It had nothing to do with migration from Y! to Groups.IO, but rather, something going on from Gmail side. Mark is unbouncing Gmail address users at the moment, which will take hours (paraphrasing his post on Beta group). Cheers, Joseph ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of T Golding

Re: bouncing around
I have been bouncing (and re-setting each time) constantly all day. Non-GroupsIO messages are coming through with no issue. I can't even approve messages in the group...I'll approve one, then my account is set back to bouncing, and I have to re-set it again before I can approve the next one.
?
Any ideas? I'm not a member/owner of that many groups, and only this one gets any significant traffic.
?
Thanks!

Re: Bouncing due to a message from GMF!
Ken,
If someone is on a number of very busy lists, this would seem to makeCorrect, in the sense that each message sent is an opportunity for the receiving service to reject ("bounce") one of the messages. In the case of yesterday's Gmail problem, someone whose group subscriptions sent no messages during the affected interval would not have been put on Bouncing status. But the message logged shows an explanation that clearly say the issue isFor that circumstance, yes. Several months ago Mark implemented means to regulate how many simultaneous connections Groups.io forms to any given service, and IIRC how many messages to deliver during each connection. So it should be a matter of tuning those parameters to suit the limitations of a given service, while working with the service to increase what they allow if their limits are causing noticeable message delay. Setting a number of members to bouncing is only a temporary and poor fix asSetting the individual accounts to bouncing is not intended as a fix - it is a response to the service's rejection of messages. If there's a large number of rejections from a given service what has to happen from there is an investigation into the underlying cause, hopefully with the cooperation of that service. In the case of Gmail yesterday the cause appears to have been a temporary failure of their email servers to recognize valid destination addresses. There was also yesterday a listing by SORBS (a blacklist service) of one of Groups.io's outbound servers as being a spam source []. That may have caused some email services to start rejecting messages from Groups.io rather than simply diverting them to the member's Spam folder. Shal |
IP for groups.io for SPF record?
When I send an email to groups.io, I get a DKIM fail and SPF fail. I would like to work on SPF for now as I am just learning about this.
The error report says: <source_ip>66.175.222.108</source_ip>
<count>6</count>
-<policy_evaluated>
<disposition>none</disposition>
<dkim>fail</dkim>
<spf>fail</spf>
</policy_evaluated>
?
My SPF record does have "include:groups.io". Do I have to add "ip4:66.175.222.108"? Someone mentioned that I need to add?ip4:66.175.222.12 too. Is that correct? Thanks in advance for any suggestion. If this has been asked before, could you point me to the message? Many thanks! David |
