This was discussed on here recently. The solution is not to mark
messages as spam or train her ISP not to do it in the first place. It is not groups.io problem, they are just doing what they are told. J,
I was trying to help another cats group by suggesting that they moveAnd you're surprised by this? I don't know whether you made your suggestion on-list or privately to the group admins, and I don't know the culture of this group and its members, but if on-list I'm almost surprised you're not banned for being off-topic and disruptive. I was sort of trying to sell them on a "the sky is falling" scenarioEven if your suggestion was made privately I can understand their hesitance. They're getting conflicting reports about Groups.io and about Yahoo. One thing they may know is that over the years there have been many scares with claims that Yahoo Groups is circling the drain; and that, so far at least, it hasn't gone down. So yes, you may have been seen as just another Chicken Little. You and I may agree that there are some objectively different things about this instance (unsupported, new owner, etc.) but I'm still not surprised that someone might resist what may seem to them to be alarmist information. Re: arrrggghhhh! I don't get it (just a rant)
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýEach owner of a Yahoo Groups group will have to make their own decision on whether to stay or leave, and I can understand not wanting to leave. For me personally I had thought about leaving, but I couldn¡¯t seem to find anywhere that was going to work for me or our members. I didn¡¯t know it though, but a lot of our members were hating where we were. When Yahoo started to fall apart again for me about two weeks ago, I said to myself I really have to do something now. While reading the help forums at Yahoo trying to figure out what was going on, and trying to get some answers, I found a few people talk about Groups.io. That prompted to investigate Groups.io to see what I could find out, and after making a test group, I decided I was moving our group as soon as possible before Yahoo died. As for me, I think I¡¯ve moving our group just in the nick of time. For the owners of groups that want to stay and hack it out at Yahoo I wish them luck, but I think it¡¯s not going to end well for a whole lot of those groups. Our members are already starting to stream over to our new home, and I anticipate most of the rest of them will come over during the transfer¡Which is happening now. I used to like Yahoo before the Neo upgrade, then not so much afterwards, now I¡¯m glad I made the decision to save the group. ? Don ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of J_Catlady ? I was trying to help another cats group by suggesting that they move from yahoo to . I was sort of trying to sell them on a "the sky is falling" scenario and they better move soon, because that's what I've been picking up on lately - that yahoo is getting so bad that Mark is having problems even doing the transfer, that he can't keep up with all the transfers, etc. This is one of the best cats groups and I didn't want to lose them in the downfall of yahoo, and I was honestly trying to help them. ? They more or less jumped down my throat. One accused me of working for . The group owner said they'd been in yahoo since 2002 and while there were "a few problems," nothing is perfect, and it would be better for them to stay. Another said she'd joined a group a couple of years ago and was immediately deluged with spam, but "maybe it's more secure now," she didn't know. A third said she'd joined "eight groups" and found them "less convenient" than yahoo. ? It was crazy. I didn't know how to deal with it without sounding even more like I'm "working for" . Only a couple of people said they'd had problems with their messages not posting on yahoo and they wouldn't mind moving, but overall, the feeling expressed was it was too risky to move, there are problems "everywhere," etc. ? YGroups GMF probs?
Anyone having further problems with GMF on YGroups?
Just went to check it and no messages load but the header and main page say 'No New Messages'. And the Message Page (Archives) there show that the latest posts are on Dec 31st. That was not the case earlier today? Wondering whether Verizon/Oath might've sanctioned some of the discussions or removed them even. Curiouser & Curiouser...! Any thoughts or comments about this. (I'd open a new tab with the message.) The default sort is by size, largest first, but you can reverse that or sort by date using the column headers. Re: attaschments
Anita,
Not long ago I went to iogroups here and saw a list of attachments andI wrote: "Seems like a feature that ought to exist." That's convenient, in the sense that you probably want to know how much space they're consuming and how close to the quota you are before you go looking to delete them, but it is evidently not an obvious place to look. I still think a "has attachments" filter in the Messages list would be more obvious. Shal |

It's in settings. Scroll down to wiki (it's alphabetical) and you'll find "sticky wiki"

accessing attachments
Is there a way to access attachments other than by going through the messages one-by-one? I see that on the Photo Album page it indicates the amount of storage being used for attachments, as well as the amount for photos. I assume these, and the file storage amount, count against our total storage limit. It might be useful to weed these out at some point. It would certainly be useful to be able to go back and look at the attachments without having to go through all of the messages. It looks like photos that are sent as attachments are saved in a separate folder, but not other types of files.
Thanks. Jonathan |
Re: Sticky Wiki Page
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWould that be applied under Admin/Settings? ? Don ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of J_Catlady ? You can pick one wiki page to be displayed at the top of the messages list. It will display about three or four lines (I don't know or remember the exact amount of text) and then truncate to "read more," which takes the reader directly to the wiki page. I use it for rotating "tips" on my group and in general. ? On Mon, Jan 22, 2018 at 2:47 PM, Don <dgrass1@...> wrote:

Re: Editing and Deleting Posts

But (a) we're talking about a private contract, (b) we're talking about the U.S., and (c) consent to what, explicitly? In your other message you were referring to ?the right to request that data *about* one be removed - e.g., requesting that google remove some kind of info that someone else posted about me. I am firmly for that, an aware that other countries have this protection, and I, like you, wish the U.S. had something like it. But your comparison seems not to match on several counts....
