Re: Strange thing happened with a Group reply - any ideas how this could have happened? #bug

Related to this, have some in this group experienced not having received emails of a post in this group? I had emailed a question to this group but do not recall ever having received subsequent posts of that topic, and there probably were 3-5 of them. Maybe I just did not realize the messages for what they were and deleted them. That is always a possibility. Or it may be a problem with my IP. Each morning I have to check their spam folder to release messages, and in the past I have never received messages I should have or they have come through a week or two later. If no one else has experienced this then it must be my mistake or maybe a problem with my IP.

I looked into our members, and the person's name and address are not on our list -- not even similar to anyone else's. I emailed her and she has no idea what our list is. The mystery person has an aol.com address, if that's helpful.

What could have happened? The situation makes no sense to me. Is this a bug somehow triggered by the content about the spam? On the other hand, this thread has been 'live' for a while as a topic on our list.

You hit "reply to group". On the group homepage, or by email?

Did you check "activity"?

John -- I did some more work on this in my test group. Every time I edit the poll it is sent out again with [Edited Message Follows] at the top. However, the updated poll goes out with the same message-ID as the original.?I am receiving these updates at gmail.com but not at tds.net, so my guess is your email provider is filtering it out as a dupe.

If you haven't already, check with others in your group to see if they are receiving them. Obviously, if you can't count on actual delivery of the update this is not a reliable work-around.

An entirely reasonable request. Every time an attachment turns up it eats into a group's storage allowance even if it has been sent numerous times previously.

All attachments count against your storage. What message they're attached to does not matter.

Re: Attachments & Memory

Edited

If I understand the question, any actual attachment (such as files or images) in a message does count?towards "memory" or storage limits but messages which are only text will not. That also means message chains added to a reply will not count because they are not an actual attachment.? Moderators can edit messages and remove extraneous attachments, if necessary. Anything removed from storage is no longer counted.

I'd appreciate any help in this matter,
You could name it something like "prayer" or "prayerrequest".

The shorter and simpler the better, as then there is less likelihood of typos
in typing the group address.

Well it looks like that group is going to have at least one other member, so
it will soon become apparent. If the current owner is genuine, they would be
willing to make the person who wants to start a similar group a co-owner or
at least a moderator, so the group can flourish.

Attachments & Memory

An owner asked members to edit out attachments in replies... but admitted he did not know if they were counted once, being stored and referred to, or if each emailing added that to his memory quota... or it could even be related to using an email provider versus replying in-site.

Anyone know off the cuff?

Re: Recipes Group #recipes

It's "my understanding".that any 1-member list is.indeed "discouraged " esp if listed, but if hidden can be used for test purposes.

Otherwise these are to be deleted. It MIGHT be necessary to complain to support or Mark and additionally ask them/him to relinquish it to you. Eventually a.scipt to locate these will get written, no doubt.

Hidden lists make reaching the owner, "to buy it/etc," difficult as you must know how to create a ListName+owner@... addy. Not tough at all, but requires basic editing and thinking skills. I'd bet not 20% of the members/owners can do this...?

SO a ListName search fails, but the listname is "unavailable." Can't find the owner, so you cannot ask to buy it. So it must be visible, for all practcal purposes, and that trips the "not permitted" aspect. BUT I BET you'd have to Fwd the emailed.reply you get from the squatter to support/Mark and request the appropriate actions.

I had a.simar issue where the owner meant and tried to release it, which is to take a.couole months, but after 3 or 4 it was still stuck in limbo. I wrote support (presently they are only/mostly helping Premium owners - which I am,).and Mark was Jonny On The Spot.fixingbthings up.

It may have helped that I guessed the past owner who wrote ne a release, wbich I did not copy/paste, but Fwd'd, so it could be examined and seen to not be forged.

That's what you put in the email address.? After the group is created, you can also add additional information for the Title.

? I want to transfer over which I understand groups.io can do.
Only if you already have everything in an mboxrd file, then they can import it.? Nothing is stored on Yahoo now, so they can't get it from there.
