You're following the correct procedure.? However, if with the title or email/name contains the word freecycle, it won't work.? See ? If that's not it, give us some more details and maybe we can figure it out.

changing a group's name

I believe it is possible to change the name of a group. ?When I go to the admin tab and click on settings, I can see the spaces for the group title and email address. ?When I enter the new title and email address and click on update group at the bottom, I get a message saying it's invalid. ?I am co-owner of the group. ?The other owner tried to do the name change and got the invalid message, then asked me to try.

Just how does a group owner change a group's name? ?

1.? What do I have now free or prime
Looking at your home page, you have email entries dating from 2011. This suggests you paid for Premium last year and did the Yahoo migration.

You can confirm this by pulling down the Admin menu on the left-side menuy bar. If there is a "Billing" section below that, you're still on Premium. If it says "Upgrade" instead, you've been downgraded to Basic.

2.? Believe it is prime and decided if so want to keep it
If you're on the legacy Premium plan, this should cost you another $110. If you went to Premium after 10/22/2019 (i.e.: you're not on the legacy plan), it will be $220.

3.? How do I update my credit card info
It's at?/account?page=billing?
?
If your card info is up to date -- and you didn't purposely downgrade your group -- you should remain at Premium and be automatically billed for another year.

You should have received an email to this effect two weeks prior to your expiration date. Did you?

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Fred -- You have an account with ComCast. That provider has recently been reported to be experiencing email delivery delays. See??for details.

If you do receive a message from groups.io soon, you can paste the message header into the analyzer at??to see where it's been held up.

No one seems to know, but my best guess is that you can't.

There is an ongoing topic in the beta group that you can monitor (). Any word on this will come from there.

Further to Andy's points above, are the undelivered messages visible in the group's web UI? After all that is a "staging post" (of sorts!) between messages being released in moderation and being sent out by email.

They should have already changed since payment wasn't made before the due date.? An easy test is to look for Direct Add on the left menu.? If it's not there, it's a Basic group.

2) several features are mentioned as "legacy enabled" as I created & moved the groups from yahoo before the deadline. Am I assured that the files, database, etc that are marked "legacy enabled" will continue if I switch to free BASIC? We are not approaching the 1G limit.
Any group created before 24 August 2020 will continue to have the additional sections such as Files.

3) 2 of my groups are already at BASIC but were created a couple of years ago. I did not receive an invoice for those groups as they are free. Will the use of files, database, etc be grandfathered in, for sure? Or will I lose those features? We are not approaching the 1G limit.
Yes.

4) Could I move to BASIC the groups now that are legacy enabled, and somehow contribute to groups.io & Mark without it being as much as $110/yr or $220 for the two groups. In other words, can I contribute a lessor amount as a donation?
There's no way to do this directly.? Some folks upgrade to a month of Premium now and then using the "Upgrade ($20 for one month, w/automatic downgrade to Basic after)" button.

You appear to be describing two different issues here.

First, messages not reaching Groups.io: if they're not reaching Groups.io then it won't be able to process them. Have you received any non-delivery reports (bounce back messages) from your attempts to send a message to your group? If so, then look at the reason within those messages and report back here.? Another place to look is your group activity log. If you see any messages along the lines of "non-member xxxxx attempetd to send message ....." then you are sending messages from an email address that is different to the one you have subscribed to your group with. Either send from your subscribed address or consider creating an Alias with your other address. Details on this are given in the Members' Manual.

Second, messages not being sent from Groups.io to you: the first place to check is your Email Delivery History from your Subscription page.? It will show details of the latest successful, unsuccessful and bounced messages. Note that message details given here are what Groups.io received from your ISP when trying to deliver a message so it's quite possible that issues are with your ISP rather than Groups.io itself.? Report what you see if needed for further assistance.

Regards
Andy

Re: BASIC vs Premium &"legacy enabled" #pricing

Yahoo group transfer owner here. Transfers done in time to receive "legacy enabled" of files, database, etc. I paid for 2 groups the premium rate of $110. We are non-profit groups with small number of members but files that are important to share. I am the owner/moderator of 4 groups. I have read what I can on this topic but am still confused.

1) invoice is a few days past due on two groups for $110 to stay at Premium. My card was deleted so that an automatic payment was not made.? IF I don't pay the invoice, will it automatically move to BASIC or do I need to downgrade? In other words, what action do I need to take to move the 2 groups to BASIC?

I do believe in contributing to Mark and other's work for groups.io. It is just that 2 Premium memberships is very steep for our non-profit groups.

Apparently, someone has copyrighted the name and is threatening people who "abuse" the name with lawsuits.
That's why Mark has made it impossible to create groups with "freecycle" in the name. He said so in the <beta> group...

Anyone know how much of a queue there is now (and how long a wait) to have messages uploaded to a Premium group?
I wouldn't think there's much, if any, of a line. One thing I noticed in Mark's message is "I ask that people put their archive on a file sharing service, like Dropbox, and then send a link to that to support, because sending large files over email, especially to the CRM system I use for support, does not work very well." Maybe there was a problem with the files you attached?

The Attachments (24.6 MB and 4.6 MB) are in Apple Air Drop (long iCloud links) available until Nov 15, 2020, e.g.
<>messages.zip

I could also put them into Dropbox, but there has been no response from Groups.io saying a different file sharing service was required or desired...

I'm trying to just be a patient Groups.io member and Owner, but members are getting restless waiting.
Do you think I should also post this to beta to make sure Mark sees that my Upload Service request seems to have been overlooked?

Also I should have said:
(Upgrade confirmed in Billing section with 2021-10-15 renewal date)
not 2020-10-15

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Don,

I agree, seniors tech-savvy, maybe in a more in-depth way though. If we could operate and use CP/M and 86-DOS based systems we were tech-savvy. To many today tech-savvy means being able to use bloated operating systems without understanding them.

I'm been a senior for quite awhile now (Where did the time go), and my first personal computer operated on Windows NT 3.1. Personal computers have been around quite awhile, but Smartphones have not. Forums like Groups.io have been around a long time too, and I think there are more seniors familiar with the digital age than you think. I used to love walking around CompUSA.
