Re: how to find all posts by a past member?

I'll try the activity log, but I haven't had success with that in the past. Last time I tried to search by email address in the activity log, it was bringing up the entire log and I reported a bug. Maybe that's been fixed.

That's right, all her posts were from when we were in yahoo. But why doesn't the search on her name or email address prefix (name sans the domain), which are at the top of every message of hers, bring up nothing?

Re: Why no List-Post: header?

This may be the root of my inability to approve messages for moderation using my smart phone. When I hit Reply, it sends to the NoReply address. It formerly would do a Reply To and send to the moderation approval address "HQ281stAHC+xxxxxx etc".
Reply will no longer approve a message.
Yahoo still works correctly.

how to find all posts by a past member?

J_Catlady

I'm trying to find all posts by a past member. I found a couple of them by searching on subjects I remembered the person had posted in, but from there I draw a blank. I can't do "all posts by this member" because she's no longer a member (and/or because the posts were before we moved from yahoo) - the option doesn't come up under "More." And a search on either her name or email address comes up blank. At ?the top of the messages by her that I found is

HerName <her-email-name@...>

yet searching on either "HerName" or "her-email-name" brings up nothing.

Is there anything I can do? Is this a bug??

Thanks.

Re: How to Close an Delete Chat's

OK, I missed the pull down arrow. Problem solved. Duhhh

How to Close an Delete Chat's

I have searched and cannot find out how to close out a chat and then, if desired, delete it. What did I miss?

Re: Member Delete Issue

It's actually sorting the data using the column you clicked on as the index.
If you click it again it will? sort in the reverse direction.

Also, if you click on the column header it will rearrange the listing.

Member Delete Issue

When trying to delete a single member of a group, the pop-up from the Members tag only pops-up in an upwards direction. Therefore, if you are near the top of a page, you cannot delete the member because the upper part of the pop-up is off of the page... A work around is to make sure more members are listed and the one to be deleted has moved down the page. This is an issue with both Firefox and Google Chromium (full disclosure, running under Linux).

Re: Photos - moving them and the ownership question

Matty,

Is it possible to get that feature back on the ¡®to do¡¯ list?
It is still there.

I don't know if there is any way to boost its priority, but you could always post about it on beta@. This old threads about it are locked, but you can start a new one.

I'd recommend including the hashtags #photos and #suggestion in the subject line of the new topic. That there have been other topic requesting the feature ought to count for something in its favor.

Re: Remote SMTP Server Returned: 500 Invalid request

Bob,

Simon, the Home page for your SDR-Radio group is
[email protected]
No, that appears to be a different, similarly named group. See

Some others are:
/g/softradio -- 3 members, no messages
/g/software-radio -- 1 member, no messages
/g/softwareradio -- 4 members, no messages

Your message couldn't be delivered to *[email protected]*
because the remote server is misconfigured.
That appears to be a lie. Thanks for nothing gmail.

The truth is in the actual response, just below that big box. In my case:

The response was:

510 Your email address, shals2nd@..., is not subscribed to that
group. To subscribe, send an email to
[email protected], or visit
Likely you also received "not a member" bounces. Simon's error message was different, and apparently sporadic. So that still merits a report to support I think.

Both failed as below: please note the misconfigured remote server item.
I? agree with Shal that this is a [email protected]?issue.

Re: Photos - moving them and the ownership question

Matty,

I can see the facuility to add comments to photos was noted and was
put on the Trello back in 2016.
Has any further decisions been made about it?
I don't recall hearing anything more about it, nor did my quick search of beta@ turn up any reply from Mark about it.

Re: Funny...

Alberto,

But if I click on the first row of the Digest page, ...
...
with the intent to modify my subscription, groups.io tells me that I
not subscribed to that group... I am registered with two different
userid to groups.io, but no matter which one I use to login, the
message does not change... I am not a subscriber of the group...
At Groups.io your userid (login ID) is your email address, and each is a separate account with its own memberships.

So my first thought is that maybe the email address that receives those digests is neither of the two you're using to login.

If this is the case, and you wish to consolidate some of these accounts, that would be something that only [email protected] could help you with at this time. There are as yet no user controls that will allow you to merge two accounts, and an attempt to change the email address of one to match another will fail, stating that the email address is already in use.

Re: Remote SMTP Server Returned: 500 Invalid request

Simon,

Reason: Remote SMTP Server Returned: 500 Invalid request
I'd send that one to [email protected] - you may need to send a more recent instance (if you have one) so that Mark can find the event in the server logs.

When I resend a few minutes later it works, this has happened a few
times now, and only when sending to groups.io, so I¡¯m wondering if the
groups.io mail server can get overloaded?
Possibly that, or possibly some sporadic miscue between your email server and Groups.io's servers based on timing or other factors.

If it were purely an overload situation then I'd expect that other people would experience it as often as you do; I never have and there haven't been a lot of reports like yours.

We (fellow GMF members) don't need to see the whole message, and in particular don't need and shouldn't be shown any of your original message content (the text you meant to have posted on the group).

?

However, as Lena said what you reported is incomplete. To figure out what happened we'd at least need the text that accompanied the 500 response. When Groups.io makes such a response it normally spells out exactly why the message was rejected.

?

And at that I'm assuming that it was Groups.io who sent you that return. Another possibility is that a group member's email server is badly misconfigured an sent that rejection notice to you (as original sender) rather than to Groups.io to handle as a bounce.

Some more of the headers sent with the response would be helpful to identify this case.

?

If we can't figure it out from more info, then this may be a case you should send to [email protected] to make sure the message was handled properly and perhaps to improve the rejection messages.
