New io group not activated
? On December 4th I started a new group for a replacement of the Yahoo group for the SONY shortwave radio the ICF-2010....??/g/SonyICF20102001Dusergroup
I thought I sent the right email to have the files, photos and documents transferred but to date it shows nothing even though the red message shows the group will go live when the files are transferred. I was to believe this would take a few days but it has been a week. Any ideas? ? Also need to know the transfer of all messages if that can be done? Thanks Rod aka poikaa@... |

Our group just finished migrating today. We've had a couple of membersThey don't have one until and unless they set one. Or, they can use the "Email me a link to log in" button. That will send them a link which will take him/her to their list of groups (I think), logged in for 30 days. They need never set a password, just ask for another emailed login link when needed. This is particularly handy on mobile devices where typing or copy/pasting a strong password can be a chore. One in particular said when he asks for his password to be reset/sentIt should take him to a prompt for him to enter his email address. Then Groups.io will send an email with a link in it. The link will take him to his account page where he can set a password. Shal |

Passwords for Migrated Members

Our group just finished migrating today. We've had a couple of members ask what their password is to access the files, photos, etc. One in particular said when he asks for his password to be reset/sent it just takes him back to the login prompt.

One of my members is having issues with cc ing in me and a few otherIf these are replies she's posting, some email interfaces allow the user to select "Reply to all" as the default reply method. That would likely post to both the group and the original sender. She'd have to look for that setting in her email interface. I¡¯m pretty sure the issue is her end but I also remember seeing aIn the Message Policies section of your group's Settings page is the "Reply To" option. It can be set to one of: Group, Sender, Moderators, or Group and Sender. I agree with you though, this isn't likely the problem if it is just the one member having the issue. Shal |

Your email header shows.The date field is ordinarily supplied by the email user interface, in my case Thunderbird. "-0800" is my current UTC offset (U.S. Pacific standard time). During Daylight time my offset is -0700. Delivery-date: Mon, 11 Dec 2017 09:15:41 +0200That field was most likely added by your email service. So we have: 10 Dec 2017 23:14:25 -0800 my time, equals 11 Dec 2017 07:14:25 -0000 UTC, equals 11 Dec 2017 09:14:25 +0200 your time 11 Dec 2017 09:15:41 +0200 your email service received it -------------------- = 1:16 Time in transit Actually, all but a second or two of that time in transit would have been spent waiting in GMF's Pending queue (because 100% of messages here are moderated). A major problem in email timezones is that gmail uses their ownThat's not always the case. I know gmail users in other timezones whose Date field is correctly represented in their UTC offset. But even so, I'm not sure why it would be a major problem if Gmail did always use their own timezone. Shal |

The Timezone should be able to be set by the ownerPerhaps we could suggest that a member timezone be one of the settings the admins (owners/moderators) can make in the Def Sub Settings tab of the group Settings page. If the joining member hasn't already set their timezone (in their account settings) then it could be pre-set from this default member value. If I have no control over the individual users TimezoneI'm not sure what you mean by "the request", but message content (a time written in the body of a message) is never adjusted for timezone. So if you are posting instructions with due dates and times, those won't be affected. The member's timezone affects what the member sees on the web site as times that messages and other content is posted, and events in the group's calendar. When the member first signed up and logged into the web site they had the opportunity to set their account timezone. If they're looking at the group calendar there's a control there to set the member's account timezone also. So for most members this won't really be an issue. At one time it was said that on that first log-in the system would automatically detect the member's timezone and set it accordingly. I can't easily test that (I'm in US. Pacific time) so I'd be happy to have someone in another timezone confirm or deny that for me. Note that means the first log-in of a given email address. If Groups.io has ever seen the email address before (joining your group or any other) then this does not apply. However Digests are the exception - members might be email-only, receiving Digests without having ever logged in to the web site. So to handle that case having a default timezone set by the group admins may be beneficial. Shal |

The Timezone should be able to be set by the owner I have a NY based EST group I set the group to EST If I have no control over the individual users Timezone ??????????????? Then the messages will be 3 hours off for everyone and confuse the posts as to the request and what is the actual time and when the request is due ??????????????? To have over 250 users change the timezone is not practical ? ??????????????? I understand that in some groups members can be in different timezones ¨C yet there should still be an override for the owner based on the requirements of that group ? ?
