That stands to reason, as they have the yahoogroups.com email address pre-populated in their email clients. If you expect people to post to the new group you cannot leave the old one up and running. It's way too confusing for everybody.

Re: How to schedule when a Member Notice goes out?

Yes indeed. If you want a reminder to go out on a specific time each month, such as the 4th of each month, or the first Tuesday of each month, etc, etc... use the Calendar reminder to do that. You can give those special days a different color so they are visually easier to locate too.

Re: Add members directly #addmembers

I fully agree with Frances. Buy the one month ($20) and direct add them. However, I highly, highly, highly suggest **staying** on the premium group level if anything, to pay back Mark for this wonderful tool he had waiting for us Yahoo hold outs. It's by far the least?we can do. But, the ability to create a data base (member list) and have a Google map with all the members locations? PRICELESS. OR, make a "Best roads" database and see a map of all the great places to ride. Or a "services" database for them to see where to get the good deals on parts and service for your Bikers. In the end we spend (waste) WAY more money on other things... even two trips to McDonalds a month. Or <gasp> Cable TV. At least try it a month and direct add them for the $20. Good luck and have at er!

Yahoo has nothing to do with GIO.? Whatever was set on your YG should have been transferred unless there was a glitch.

Some posts were still being sent from yahoo; as far as I know that option has been closed.
How were you getting messages from your YG posted to your GIO group?? Anything posted on YG should only go to the people still there, it shouldn't get to the GIO group.? Are these messages actually in the archives of the GIO group?? If not, they were only sent via email.

Thanks. Unfortunately some posts have gone thru without moderation, and we are still trying to figure this out.

Yahoo apparently did change something when transferring files. I needed to reset a huge number of members back to digest.

Some posts were still being sent from yahoo; as far as I know that option has been closed. I¡¯m hoping those are the only ones that got through.

Though the settings should have been copied if you did a YG transfer, nothing else would be related to that.? GIO is totally independent of Yahoo.? Those with a 0 won't be moderated unless you have a moderated group, those with a 1 will never be moderated, those with a 2 will always be moderated, those with a 3 can't post, and those with a 4 will be moderated for X messages, depending on what you have set for NuM.

Thanks. We are not using yahoo any more, but apparently some members are still sending their posts to them rather than to groups io.

Re: BATCH CHANGE of Posting Privileges

Thanks again for your help. The only members with a code of ¡®1 allowed¡± are our moderators. Everyone else has codes of 0, 2, 3, &/or 4.

Is it possible the posts that are going thru without moderation are being sent directly from yahoo without any controls??

Re: Yahoo Group Description field on the ABOUT page [we've moved billboard] #yahoo

One thing to add...
Yahoo groups has slowed way down. Have patience when you click on anything. It takes a long time to load.

Re: Add members directly #addmembers

I deal with "tech-challenged" folks every day, so I understand.

Probably the easiest and cheapest route is to simply have them send an email to:

<yourgroup>[email protected]
^The correct email is shown on the homepage of your group^

Some email clients will allow you to set a different "Reply-To" for messages you send, and you could even send them each such an email, and tell them to reply.

Note that I have not tried either of these and I am no expert so your mileage may vary.

Scott

If you have a premium group, you can "direct add" your members.
If you are a free group, you can buy just one month of premium and then direct add all of your members. (Be sure you are canceled after the month.)

Not via the web interface.

The best way to figure this out is to download your member list to a CSV file (see the download button at the top of Admin>Members). After importing into Excel or similar, you can then sort by the column headers...Posting Status will be in the 6th column.

2. ?Is there any way to BATCH CHANGE everyone to moderated posts.
In Admin>Settings>Spam Control, tick the Moderated checkbox, scroll down and save.?

Now open the member list and tick the checkbox at upper left to select all. Pull down the Actions menu at the bottom of the page and select Change Moderation. When the dialog box pops up, select Use Group Moderation Setting and click the Change button to confirm. Repeat for each pageful of subscribers.

Generally, life will be easier if you forget you ever saw those Posting Privilege override radio buttons.

For some reason, when our group was transferred from Yahoo, many settings were eliminated.

The settings on our home page are correct, but apparently being overridden by certain members.

2. ?Is there any way to BATCH CHANGE everyone to moderated posts

Much thanks for all help.

AOL, Yahoo, and Verizon are all the same company now, so they likely share a lot of computing resources.? Yes, it may happen regularly, but you won't know unless you check your bounce history.? If it continuously happens, you'll end up bounced (red B next to your name) and GIO will attempt to send you an email.

Re: Approve and unmoderate senders not working

John Pearce

My experience has been that I never want to have a member set to any of the "overrides" for the long term.? I always want the "use group moderation settings".? The reason for this is if you wish to handle the group differently and change one of the group settings that would affect all users it won't affect anyone with an "override" because their ID will continue to follow the override? So down the road you may end up with a mixture of group moderation settings and overrides that will give you fits.? Things won't work as you expect and you will wonder what's wrong and think groups.io is buggy.

Bouncing messages notice

Three times in the last 11 days, I received the message below.? My provider says that groups.io is whitelisted on their server and nothing has been flagged as spam.? The bounce list doesn't show anything since September 2018.? I'm concerned that this is happening to subscribers on my groups.? What's gong on here?

Hello,

Recently, emails sent to you have bounced back to us. This can be for many reasons, including:

- We have an incorrect email address for you.
- Your account was or is full.
- Other temporary delivery issues.

To view the error messages we receive from your email server, click here.

We have suspended email delivery to you. This means you will no longer receive messages from the groups you are subscribed to...

Strange Bounce

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I recently posted a message to a group of which I am an owner. I did not receive the message when it was sent to the list, and that was unusual, so I checked and found that it was included on the group site. I then checked my own message delivery history and the message showed as bounced with the following reason: "mx-aol.mail.gm0.yahoodns.net: 554 5.7.9 Message not accepted for policy reasons. See ". Can anyone explain to me how this could possibly happen. I use my verizon.net address which is received by aol, and has nothing to do with yahoo. Is it possible this has happened before to messages that I would not have known about?
