I am sorry you haven't been able to transfer but I guess you didn't follow instructions.?
You needed to pre-pay for a full year.
Have you checked the status of your transfer?
Did you ever make the transfer email address a member of your Yahoo Group? Did you promote it to moderator?

You should check the status of your transfer, see what the message is.

From the FAQ:
How do I check the transfer status?

Transfers are queued up when you first set it up and processed in that order until you get to Step 5.?

At that point they are re-ordered based on when the transfer go-ahead is given and uploaded to groups.io in that order.
?
When you click on the green "Set Up New Transfer" button at bottom left of the Yahoo groups transfer page (/yahootransfer), a new page will come up where you can enter the source and destination group names.?

There is also a series of checkboxes for the various areas of the group to transfer (files, photos, members, messages, etc). Simply uncheck the ones you don't want before clicking the "Start New Transfer Process" button.

(a) If you've already started a transfer:

When you go to edit your transfer, if it's been submitted for transfer, you'll now see one of these 4 status lines:

Your group is being exported from Yahoo right now. [Stage 2 of 4]
Your group is awaiting import into Groups.io. There are about N groups ahead of it in the queue. [Stage 3 of 4] **
Your group is being imported into Groups.io right now. [Stage 4 of 4]

** Where N in Stage 3 is an estimate as to where you are in the queue. i.e. Your group is about 70th in the queue right now.

Stage 4 is the biggest bottleneck, as only so many groups at a time can be imported without overloading the system. There's no estimate as to how long each group takes to be imported, because each group is different (how many photos, how many messages, etc).

Groups.io is not accepting new transfer requests. Those who have paid but were unable to execute an Easy Group Transfer will issued a refund upon request. Just email Mark at [email protected] and he will refund your money and delete your group.

You can try other approaches to transfer your group - ?See #10 and #14 for other options.

Paying monthly for a transfer from Yahoo was not part of the offer. The requirement was for a one - off payment to cover one year as a Premium Group.

I have done everything possible.? ?It is impossible to get a reply...? ? I signed up in late October to have my group OScaleModelers transfered to groups.io.? ?I chose to pay monthy.? ?Is my money not good enough.? They have take out the second payment and still nothing has been transfered.

I have another group.? OScale2railProto48modelers? it was not transfered.? ?I chose the pay first month and then downgrade..? It was a n option at the time.? ?Over a month and nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? ?

I have added the transfer as a member etc.? ??

I have returned emails to the [email protected]
nothing happened ..? returned to sender.? ??

This is becoming rediculous.? ?Members of our group have donated donated money to pay for this......? ?

What is taking so long???

Ahh, thank you, Frances. I hadn't seen that information.

Mybad regards the suggestion for an IP address from an applicant. I see now, from a membership request received, that indeed the applicant's IP is already provided.

Unless I'm missing something, the only thing I'd do differently to how things stand is to give a Group owner the ability to force an applicant to complete a "Why would you like to join this Group?" at point of application, which may then obviate the need for a Pending Subscription form.

Droxine, glad I was able to give you a useful steer. As an alternative to things like Google Docs, take a look at Libre Office (). Unless you're doing using highly MS specific features (rare) it'll do 100% what you need. And it's free - although of course I always make and recommend making a donation to open source projects when you find them genuinely useful.

Lesson learned. If something fails in Portrait mode, try doing it in
Landscape mode.
Quirks like this should be sent to [email protected] as bug reports. Together with a description of the devices involved and screen shots if you can. That way Mark will know there's an issue with the "responsive" code that perhaps can be fixed to give users a better experience on various devices.

the Yahoo membership list informing members that the group has been
transferred.
Correct.

Unless you unchecked the box for it when setting up your transfer Groups.io would have sent an "You have been added" notice to each copied address:

There is only one post since December 3 in my very large group. ...

since my group has to do with time-sensitive matters, I was hoping to
avoid downtime. Any suggestions?
As Derek suggested, look in the Activity page for your group to see if people have made failed attempts to post to the group. Check also the Pending page to see if any need approval. And of course, check the Messages page to see if messages have posted but you've not received them by email.

Please reply back to us know if this has been resolved, or what you've learned.

Dennis,

So far no response to four emails over two days and no option to pay
on the spot.
Try emailing from a different email service.

A couple weeks ago someone else reported a similar difficulty and it turned out that Wilson had been trying to reply, but that person's email service was rejecting ("bouncing") Wilson's replies.

screenshot of the record. Any advice on what this means, and how to
troubleshoot?

Basically this is a problem which the member's email service. Have the member send your screenshot to tech support at his/her service. The user can also locate the same information on his/her Subscription page or via his/her Account, Recent Bounces page; if the member has any other group subscriptions bounces from all of them would be listed there.

Until and unless he/she can convince his/her email service to whitelist Groups.io, or at least ignore this particular Real Time Blacklist service, the member is likely to have ongoing problems with missing messages.

My impertinent advice: choose a better email service.

The wiki page about "removed for spam" is tangentially related, but this particular member's problem isn't that group messages went to spam, it is that they were rejected outright by his/her email service.

If the group's messages /had/ gone to spam that would have been better: at least the member could find them and mark them as "not spam".

This is the first non-member responding to the group since we converted, so I am at a loss of how to accept them the correct way.

What Michael said: you approve a pending member on the Pending Approval view of your group's members page:

You may also be able to approve the member by simply replying to the Pending Subscription notice.

As to the person's reply to your Pending Subscription Notice, his/her reply would have been directed to your group's +owner address. There is no direct way to direct his/her reply to the group in general, you'd have to forward it from your email.

You have understood my objective correctly Bruce. It would be better to have no ownership showing rather than the wrong one for files and put the correct ownership in the file description; that is what I have been doing. I was rather hoping that when the dummy account was deleted it would leave a place holder for the name to be selected.

It's just hard for me to believe that 10% of messages were deleted
(purposefully, not by yahoo glitch or something). I was sole owner
and mod, and think I'd remember.
What Dano said: it is possible that some of the members deleted some or all of their own messages.

You might be able to see if this was the case by opening the Activity Log in your Yahoo Group, select the Web tab, and select Conversations in the Search drop box. Then click the Search button. This should produce a list of actions (including deletions) taken by members or mods.

Note that Y!Groups activity logs are not 100% reliable: in some of my groups some of the tabs stopped updating months or years ago, so you may not get a complete list of deleted messages, particularly if the deletion was recent.

What Dano said about an earlier owner deleting "unnecessary" messages may not apply in your case, but it is true that when I first started using Yahoo Groups (in 2003) that groups had limited storage for messages, so there was a motive for deleting older or less useful messages.

No, I don't recall anything of the kind. Although I was not always a moderator for our forum, the person who was would surely have reported such issues. Of course, there were some deliberate deletions over the years, but those couldn't have added up to more than a couple of dozen messages at most -- definitely not several hundred. So yes: the discrepancy was a big surprise.
