Can a Message Be Sent from the Owner Address without Identifying the Owner Who Is Posting? #question #messages

I have an owner who needs to remain publicly silent, but helps in moderating messages.? To help relieve some of my workload, is it possible for her to send a message to a member that does not identify her directly, but only uses the owner address as the sender?? She can sign my name to the message---I just wouldn't have to send it myself, which would be a big help.

It's probably not what you're looking for, but I was able to get the db including images.? I had to use the Export Group Data on the Settings page and choose Databases.? Then wait for the email with the download link to the ZIP file, get that, extract it.? The images are not in the data section, but in their own folder under the database name.? Rather convoluted, but will do for a backup.? It wouldn't allow members to do it though.

Winnie, I see (as a mod) that you are Special Notices only. Hence no message.

Thanks Bruce,?
I also would like to hear of a success in this area.? As it is, the database is useless to me.

Re: Members unable to add photos to new messages

The only way I can determine that anyone would be missing the contents of the format bar is if their Editor Preference is set to something other than HTML. Setting it to Markdown or Plain Text would remove everything on the bar except for the attachment icon.

I would advise them to visit?/account?page=prefs?to check their setting.?

Sorry for the late response Bruce, I thought I would receive a message when someone had replied to my entry but apparently not. Thank you for responding!
I know the country field is a pull-down menu, and I have put in addresses in my database using that menu to enter the countries. There are a few other fields in the database entry, like a text field in which I can add a date at some point. But when I later on update one of the (non-address) fields in a database record, like a date in a text field, and I want to save the changes I made, I get an error message saying that I have to enter the country name. Again...
So to me this feels like a bug, the country name should be saved permanently just like the rest of the address, shouldn't it?

Re: Upgraded to Premium and THEN saw the notice...

I think I have fallen into a similar trap. The message about the Yahoo outage cleared early on Friday morning so I upgraded [email protected] to premium so we could request transfer, Not sure if I missed out step 2 or was not able to do it because the green button was disabled again by the time I got back to that point, I have sent the invite to [email protected]?but it has not yet been accepted so I cannot do steps 4 onwards. Have I missed the boat as the original deadline of 1st December has been reached.?

I started a test this morning and just got the results.? Both the lock and delete occurred just after 11pm PST.? I had done a delete test back in October that was deleted after 1:09 (though I could see it being up to almost 2 hours, depending on how often the job runs), so something has changed.? I'll contact support to report the bug.

Sorry, I can see it. It is a little fussy though. I need to put the cursor in the middle of the m of am or pm.
Not a problem for me though. The date is normally good enough and the hour for current day.

Bruce, on my Mac computer, it seems to be different.

I can see the time in the top right corner for today's posts. Yesterday's posts (and all of this year) have the day, month below the below snippet but no time. For previous years, it also includes the year.

Interesting though is that responding using my Apple Mail client it quotes it as sent at Nov 30. 2019 11:59 PM (see above)

In any case the full date and time is viewable.

And as owner or moderator, in a message, I can see the date in the dropdown menu in View Source if I really needed to.

But I can't get any extra information.

The problem is what to do with the message archive once downloaded; as there is really no good way to re-upload it to groups.io, to re-link individual messages to their owners, or to provide online message search capability. ?It's not the same as a transfer and loses "ownership", but Lena has a way to get the messages into the archive,?

Re: Upgraded to Premium and THEN saw the notice...

Thank you Shal and Frances.

Shal, you also can't move onto Step 2, at least I wasn't able to, because the green button has been disabled to start the transfer. My guess is that has to do with the Yahoo outage.?

I'm guessing the best thing to do is see if the outage is fixed and at the same time, also be working a workaround.?

Thanks, all!

If that's all you've done, no.

Don't miss Step 2 and steps 4 through 6.
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups

My guess is that mark will treat Steps 2 and 3 together as initiating
the transfer, if only because Step 4 requires Groups.io to take a manual
step (solve a Captcha) to accept the invitation.

But only Groups.io can give a definitive answer.

Can a database with images be exported and the images show up in the exported file?
Charles -- I believe the answer is "no." Exporting as CSV definitely won't work. I have exported such databases as json objects and attempted to import them into Excel, without success. It seems that the export function fails to escape the images into unicode, and the resulting file I'm getting is too small to even possibly contain the images.

If others have done a more rigorous check and met with more success I'd love to hear about it.?
