I am clicking on the calender and nothing is showing up.

If you are not currently logged in to the site you cannot add entries to a group's calender even if you can see it (calendars can be publicly viewable).

If you are not an owner/mod of the group it is possible that the group's calendar setting does not allow members to create events.

The settings are:

o Public can view, Subscribers can view and edit
o Subscribers can view and edit
o Public and subscribers can view, moderators can edit
o Subscribers can view, moderators can edit
o Subscribers cannot view, moderators can edit
o Calendar is disabled

Otherwise I can't think of a reason that clicking in the calendar wouldn't bring up the page to create or edit an event.

Likes are not anonymous in Groups.io - you can click on a link to see a list of who liked the post. I would expect that unlikes would not be anonymous either.

I don't know if that affects your evaluation of the proposed unlike feature, but it may tend to reduce the willy-nilly use of unlike.

I think a better venue for this conversation/debate would be the beta group, so that Mark can see the responses. I am very strongly against an Unlike button. All of the better media either never had one or have gotten rid of it by now, for what I think are obvious reasons.

I feel an "Unlike" option should not be there.

I don't think posts should be treated as polls.
If one disagrees with an idea, one should post and reply why ones
thoughts are different.

Can someone name some platforms (besides the odious, troll-ridden craigslist forums) that have an unlike as well as a like button? Facebook got rid of it a long time ago. The news outlets don't have it. Where does this feature exist, currently??

That's not what Mark himself says.

He has stated a couple of times that Groups.io is already operating in the black and he expects that to get stronger over time. I wouldn't be surprised if that statement excludes compensation to himself - that he may consider his "sweat equity".

Yet we insistently yammer that we need and are entitled to more!

Ginny's proposal, and mine, is that groups that want more pay for it.

I don't propose it as an entitlement or charity, I'm hopeful that Mark can set a price for extra storage that covers its direct and indirect costs, with money left over to contribute to the support of free (basic plan) services and Groups.io as a whole.

As for rarely bothering to look for it, that is the current situation.

I'm hoping that the long-awaited "notification overhaul" will include an option to receive an email notification when someone likes (or unlikes) a message of yours.

Right now the likes have too little visibility on the web as well. Which is one of the reasons I've proposed "has likes" (among others) as a message filter to go with the existing date range filter. But the more complete solution for the web is that a like on one of your messages (or other content) should be in your online list of notifications, however that is presented.

Well, the "like" or "+1" is implemented via email. Seems like the "unlike"
or "-1" could be done just as easily.

And email-only readers wouldn't see either. Very little difference from the
existing feature, except that it would balance the ability to like and dislike.

Having an email mechanism for Like and Unlike is a separate issue.

As for rarely bothering to look for it, that is the current situation. Having a balanced system (Like & Unlike), however implemented, might at least prove more engaging to users.

There is no unlike button in many media for the simple reason that it can get nasty. I would not want an unlike button in groups.io.

I brought this up over 2 years ago in beta@ when the Like function was first introduced. There was a lot of discussion, but I don't think a final decision on any changes was ever made. I now find myself using Like to agree with a post instead of a 'me, too' or 'thanks' post being needed, but I'd still like to see alternatives.

You need to click on the calendar to open the page for adding information. In Month view you click on the date. In Week or Day view, you can click at the top for an all day event or on a specific time for an event to start.

meaningless. Even if it were, most of us who read the emails rarely
bother to look for such things.
