As an aside, is there an estimated or "normal" time frame for approval in GMF? They have always posted in the next day digest so far so I am figuring it is probably within 24 hours.?As a clarification on this point, the approval comes from the administrators of YOUR GROUP, not Groups.io. Therefore, the time needed to approve a message is dependent solely on the participation level of the moderators of that group and has nothing to do with the Groups platform. Dave |

My groups are already transferred. I was just trying this to see if it would work for others wanting to transfer.? This address I added also already has a Yahoo ID.? Maybe why I was able to promote this other Me.Janis, I do not think this is going to be a reliable procedure. I just tried an invite with checking the add to email list only. No success, just the same old error message. My group also no longer has the capability to change anyone's role. -- Gerald |
Re: #Delayed messages - again

Carola,
The 127.0.0.2 address would be internal to the server processing the message (in fact any IP starting 127 should stay within the walls of the device), so would appear to be at the groups.io end. There are plenty of reasons for this happening, some better than others. I would strongly recommend posting this to [email protected]?- it may be they have a misconfiguration and this may highlight it. Or you could just have been unlucky and the message was placed in a pending queue for some reason. It may be worth bearing in mind that however frustrating it may be, e-mail isn't guaranteed instant delivery, it's designed to cope with all kinds of transmission problems. Traditionally mailservers were configured to allow anything between 3-5?days before giving up and returning it as undeliverable! Regards, Derek |

You're probably right, you're smarter than I am.? Last night when I tried to post from our gmf, I got an error that said I don't have permission to do that, or some such, so I thought maybe this sounded similar.? But probably not.

Duane, and all, I just looked on the beta group.? Mark's reporting the yahoo problems and what he can and cannot do, so it's not us, it's yahoo.

I don't think it's him not following procedureI'm pretty sure it is.? The message he's getting "It says it's an invalid address" is typical when trying to invite from GIO instead of YG.? I don't think it's him not following procedure, if you've been on groups lately, you know how much is not working.? I get errors nonstop trying to do basic things like read messages and post.? I don't know if yahoo will get it together enough for people to transfer, it's questionable.? And as always with yahoo, different people and different groups have different experiences and problems.? To me, at this point, group functions feel mostly gone.

#Delayed messages - again
#delayed
Carola F. Berger, PhD, CT
All,
I've been searching through the threads here and I didn't quite find an answer. Long story short, I'm managing several groups, and am member of a number of other groups, and sometimes messages are delayed by hours until they arrive in my inbox. I tried to decipher what's going on from the message headers, but some funky ISP address shows up in the headers, where the delay occurs and I'm not sure what to make of this. Here's the message analysis as done by Google's analysis tool? As you can see, there's an 11-hour delay at a ISP address of 127.0.0.2 - which seems to be in between groups.io relays. So, I'd appreciate if you could explain to me where the problem lies - at groups.io, or at my receiving end. Thanks, Carola |

Re: Default Date Order of Messages
A little more detail.? The 'normal' URL for my chosen view is /g/GroupManagersForum/topics? When I click to change date order, it becomes /g/GroupManagersForum/topics?p=RecentPostDate%2FSticky,,,50,1,0,0? When I click a second time, it changes to /g/GroupManagersForum/topics?p=RecentPostDate%2FSticky,,,50,2,0,0? The 3rd digit from the end toggles between 2 (most recent first) and 1 (oldest first).? If I save one of these as a bookmark, it sorts in that order when using it.? If the bookmark doesn't have the ? and all the stuff after it, I see my last used view.

You need to read and follow the instructions at /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups step 3
A more detailed procedure can be found at /g/GroupManagersForum/message/24431 starting at 3.1 Both clearly state that you must issue the invitation from your Yahoo group.? Don't do the steps out of order or you may have to start over again. Re: How do I reply to message in Digest Mode?
Sorry Bruce; I didn¡¯t ¡°get¡± it the first time. Here I use gmail, but on an alternate Groups IO account, I use Hotmail via Outlook and that¡¯s where my problem is/was. I didn¡¯t realize that Outlook wasn¡¯t my default email and never ran into this problem before.? Following the instructions and after poking around for 20 minutes ¨C and I realize that whatever how-tos describe as the procedure, there¡¯s many views and way to get there, but the final process for me was (on Windows 10): Control Panel Items, click on Control Panel in URL area, Programs>Default Programs>Associate a file type or protocol with a program, click on app under Email, select Outlook And that worked.? Thanks a bunch Bruce. -- Ruth D |
