Re: Group Members e-mail Address #multipleemail #membersemail #memberemail

Bruce,

Thanks for the feedback/info. The "join date" seniority issue is certainly not a high priority. If the join date could be corrected in three to six or eight months that would be fine. Members are in for the long haul. Members do like their bragging rights. Thanks again.

Regards,
Scott.

Re: Current Delay ?

November 15, 2019

Hi All,
?
As of this morning, we've completely worked through the backlog of Yahoo Group transfer requests. It took 29 days, but we did it. :-)
?
I've removed the option to pay for a priority transfer.
?
I'm still only responding to support emails from premium group owners right now. There's just too much otherwise. Also, the beta group is still moderated.
?
A reminder: please get your transfer requests in by the end of the month.
?
Thanks,
Mark

Good advice, except that copyright in the USA (and in all other countries that I know of) is a national issue not subject to
override by individual states, so copyright law applies uniformly to
the entire USA.
My apologies for saying "different states have different copyright laws". What I meant was "different states have different laws which affect the application of nation copyright law".

Specifically, how "employee" is defined (it affects "work for hire").

Of course, IANAL.

Current Delay ?

Does anyone know roughly what the current delay time is between sending an invitation to [email protected] and Transfer joining a Yahoo Group?

Thanks

The folders automatically sort alphabetically. Add another one and it zips into the right spot.

I only suggest numbers for folders if you want some arbitrary system.

Problem is that no one but me or another moderator or owner can move the files. Is there a way to upload them so that anyone can move them?
Dale -- I really don't think so. If you upload them, you own them, and a mere Subscriber will be unable to move "your" photos. It is possible to reassign ownership of photos so they can be moved by someone else, but it must be done one by one, is a very cumbersome process (try it and see), and will not save you or anybody else any work.

As Frances suggested, you may be better off hosting the photos in cloud storage and having your subscribers transfer them to the group from there. That's the only convenient way I can think of to delegate the job and still get all the ownerships to come out right.

Here's hoping someone else has worked this through and has a better idea.

Good luck,
Bruce

49. Hawaii
50. Wyoming

Users would not appreciate finding the folder in such a list.

There is one case where numbers make sense: an archive of photos or attachments by year, with folders labelled 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. I don't see confusion with this, whether the list default is to sort ascending or descending.

I confirm that the digest or summary mails are more highly formatted messages, and indeed they do have a minimum width.

SOLUTION:

One solution is that she opens the mail in a new window, so that the folders on the left-hand side do not take up any space. There is a special button in Gmail for this, at the top right of the message (see screenshot attached).

Also:

I may have found the problem. The HTML is written very nicely for adjusting the width to the screen, and then someone put an image in the message footer in such a way that it doesn't allow going smaller:

Michael, you say you are a moderator. Are you the owner? Can you see Admin in the left menu?
If yes, you are ready to make the changes.

First, is it possible you set it up as an Announcement group? That seems to fit the symptoms. Untick that.
Select restricted or one of the other spam control choices.

Under your "Admin/Settings" Spam Control block - make sure you don't have 'Announcement group' checked, this only allows moderators (you!) to post...

If the photos are in an album it is fairly easy to move them. But create an album before you try to move.
To give everyone access, you need to go to Admin, Settings. Scroll down to photos in Features. Change it so subscribers and view and upload.

However access does not give your members permission to move other people's photos. Only the member who uploaded the photo can move it - apart from owners / moderators. And you have one big file from Yahoo.?
Someone else suggested hosting the photos elsewhere - somewhere free. And putting a link on your home page.

Anyone else with suggestions on how to do this?

I can create a wiki start page in GMF for this if you wish.
If you haven't done a wiki, it is just like word processing - or like writing a post online here at Groups.io

Helo needed urgently

I had my Yahoo group transferred to Groups.io a few days ago (800+ members), under the name CHARTER BOAT OWNERS. Apparently only the moderator (me) is allowed to post and none of the members can post - they cannot see the "New Topic" button.

I have been looking at all my settings and I cannot find where to fix this. Can someone help ASAP please?

Photo permissions

We have started a new group on groups.io as it is not economically feasible to utilize the transfer option to move our old Yahoo group over.? Also our owner is missing.? ?We downloaded everything with PGOffline and have assembled the old Yahoo messages in searchable form off site, with a link to them in the group description, but uploading the photos remains a problem.? ?We have 286 albums.? Re: Question about Deleting photos in the Emailed photo album plus another question

I belong to more than 3 groups in groupsio.? In one I'm the owner and in two I'm the Moderator.? In the owner and one Moderator site when I go to Settings, I can find it.? With one that I'm Moderator, Settings won't come up.? I'm assuming something is set wrong by the owner maybe?? What setting would that be?? What should it be?

And regarding the Deleting of photos in the Emailed photo album, the one I'm Moderator for and can't get to settings doesn't have a "delete" for the photos.? On the second one that I'm Moderator for and can see Settings, I can see the delete for the photos but the owner can't.? On the one that I'm owner, I can see the delete and the Settings.

I think the wiki page on promoting moderators and owners may be relevant. A full list of permissions.
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Promotion%2C-Status-or-Permissions-Change-to-Moderator-or-Owner

There are also settings in Admin, Settings for photos.

I think you need to do both. Change your admin settings so that moderators can do certain things.
Then for a specific member you wish to promote, choose the permissions that you, as owner, wish to give to that particular moderator.

Could I have accidentally created an alias for that group?
Messages are never sent to alias addresses. Aliases are post-only.
