Hi,Janet You can have more than one groups.io webpage open at once and each one signed in with its, in your case, unique account. This is, after all, what the original notification implies, i.e. that there is way to turn of those particular types of notifications. In other words, she's not trying to turn off the fact that members get removed, or the fact that members get a notification when they are removed, but the notification telling her, as moderator, that a member had been removed for this specific reason. Sharonb, you can't turn off notifications about members leaving unless you also turn off notifications about members joining. This is weird, IMO, but that's the way it currently is. There is also no separate notification for members who were *removed*. There is only a notification for members who "leave", regardless of whether they left by their own choosing or left because they were removed by either Groups.io or by a moderator. In addition, you can't turn off (or turn on) notifications for specific *reasons* of leaving. You can't choose not to receive notifications about members who left for this or that reason. If you're a moderator (or owner), then you are forced to receive notifications about members leaving or members who have been removed, if you also want to receive notifications about members joining. What you can do, is to use separate e-mail addresses for normal participation and for participation as a moderator/owner. Samuel |
Re: transferring from yahoo best practices
I'm probably in that silent majority. I recently completed the transfer of a group with over 20 years of history. We'd had to migrate within Yahoogroups twice because were approaching the archive limit. All three groups, plus a couple of smaller ancillary groups, transferred with very few issues. Of my 800+ current subscribers, only three had some kind of database error, according to the report email, and needed to be added manually. The report indicated a problem with the databases, but as far as I can see they're intact. The only thing that didn't come over properly were the links, but since most of them have been dead for five years or more, that wasn't a problem!
I did notice that not all of the messages showed up in our archives immediately. The topic count grew over the course of a couple of days, and it now looks more or less correct. At least, I haven't seen any obvious holes in the history. As for paranoia, anyone whose membership is pitching a fit over the move might want to state up front that Groups.io's privacy policy is much friendlier than Yahoo's, and since Groups isn't advertiser-driven, it's more likely to remain that way.? -- Bryan Ray, Christian Gamers Guild christian-gamers-guild.groups.io |

Notify member why message was not approved

Hello,
If a member sends a message, and I want to let them know why it was not approved, I know you can send a message that does it automatically when you do not approve it, but also how do you do it with the reason why, and to that specific member? Hopefully I making sense here. Blessings, Fabien |

Separate Accounts (NOT Groups) on Same Home Page?
Hi,
I just transferred my Yahoo Owner Group to Groups.io. I am also a member of several other groups?that?also transferred over. On Groups.io both my Owner Group and the other groups have separate accounts, each with different sign-in information (Email Address & Password).? Previously on the Yahoo Group Home Page on the upper right, if I clicked on my name I had a choice of?my different accounts and?I could choose which one I wanted to go to?see?the groups in that account. I'm wondering if Groups.io has the same option? Having to sign-in and out of each account has been driving me crazy, and is very time consuming! Thanks, Janet |

I'm just not sure which of the notifications you should disable. The official help file says nothing about these settings: /static/help#subscription-options The GMF wiki page on this happens also does not say how you (the moderator) can turn off notification of when this happens to a user: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Removed-for-spam Samuel |
Re: Yahoo deleted our group
Yahoo had an evil ¡°delete this group¡± button in a location that was much too easy to access in error and was followed by a not terribly obvious <are you certain you want to delete this group> notice. Add a little distraction or cat on your keyboard and your group could go poof.? Patti |
