Re: subgroups and members of the main group becoming membes of it

That's what I will probably do then. Thanks.?

I won't be using the easy transfer so that's why I will keep them separate. I plan to make the subgroup announcements only to prevent adding to the old messages.?

Thanks.?

One thing you may have an issue with is members replying to existing or posting new topics in your 'old messages' subgroup.?

Re: How Can I Export 1300 Members List from YG #yahoo

There seem to be mixed results with the group-archiver tool, PGO definitely works very nicely, thank you, and will export your member list to CSV; you will need moderator (at least) access to your Y! group but I guess that's not a problem for you :-).

One zero-cost option that may be open to you, depending on what you're planning for the Y! group. You could simply remove 300 (or so) transferred members form the group bringing you within the Y! limit?

Thank you for a thoughtful and revealing post. Two very valuable peices were presented to those new to IO. First that Mark is a trustworthy flesh and blood person who is actively involved. Second, some statistics showing the workload he is under and that he has prioritized his time to actually move countless bits of information rather than read inquiries and post reassurances. ?

I joined IO in early 2019 and created 2 groups. I moderate a third group that was created in October. I can verify the hands on nature of Mark and the dedicated people who are committed to keeping IO viable and successful.?

I am looking forward to life after the Yahoo dust settles. It will be nice to get back to a normal workload of IO support, troubleshooting and improvements. But right now I have the sense that the focus is on capturing the data that millions of people around the world have entrusted to Yahoo so that it can be preserved and translated to IO.?

If you go to the "Management --> Manage Members" page, you see a partial listing of your membership. But it's one of those "self growing" pages -- if you scroll to the bottom, it shows you more data, and if you have enough patience, you can get the entire listing.

You can then select all of the data from that table, copy and paste it into a text file, and with a little manual cleanup, you get a TSV, or tab-separated values file. Most spreadsheets and database programs will be able to import that directly, or there are tools to convert it to CSV.

Before we made the jump to groups.io, I used to do this on a monthly basis to make sure that the Yahoo membership listing was in sync with our website's database of members. I wrote some custom Perl scripts to automate most of it, but doing it manually as described above as a one-time thing is not all that bad.

Thanks Duane, I could have worded that a lot better on reflection...!

You can try with PG offline - the paid one costing $25

I went to Yahoo and could only Export 1000 members.? It was in a CSV and easily converted into Excel, from which I was able to import or bulk add those 1000 members into Groups.IO.

My problem is how to I get the left behind 300 members?? Is there a way to get the full list of 1300 members exported from my Yahoo group in a CSV style?

Option 1:

(you have to ask the script for "help" so that you can see how to ask for just the member list and not all the messages too)

Option 2:
Pay $25 for PG Offline.

There is no way to export your settings. I agree that would be handy.

What I did was print the settings page to a PDF (or paper, as needed) and then use that as a template for setting up subsequent groups.

No. See?/yahootransfer, "What We Transfer."

As Bruce mentioned, it's not, but it's much easier to see them now that they're a different color.? All badges used to be the same blue.

Re: Which size plan?

David,

Is there any way to find out how much disk space is being used in a Yahoo group now?

The Files usage is shown at the bottom of the page. Despite the "infinite scroll", there is a bottom!

For the Photos & Attachments usage (total) they got wiser, it is shown at the top of the Albums tab:

That's the sum of Photos and Attachments, which share the 100 GB allocation.
Ok, thank you. One of my groups has 463MB of attachments, so should fit into the free category after the first year.

Does the groups.io transfer take attachments across as well as files and photos?

Whether that degree of "personal touch" would be applied during these high-stress times I don't know, but it is possible - after Stage 2 there's not as much need to panic. The photos would have been exported from Yahoo at whatever resolution Yahoo was holding.
Just would not want it to stop the transfer half-done when it ran out of disk space.

Export and import group settings?

Hello

I have one group that is nicely set up. I'd like to create another group with mostly the same setup settings, but I'm not looking forward to setting everything all over again (not to mention making sure that the settings are indeed the same as the previous group's).

Is there a way to clone the existing group (obviously without its members, files, etc.), or to export some or all of its settings so that I can import those settings into the new group when I create it?

Thanks
Samuel
