It's a blue button at the top left of the page. Based on what you're seeing, it will say Members. What's displayed will depend on which view you've selected.

Re: Avoiding moderation

On a similar topic, our Settings are: Restricted Membership and New Users Moderated. When the transfer takes place, will new users still be moderated for the first message?

If we disable New Users Moderated, after Transfer, will we have to approve each applicant's subscription?

Yes. As your subscriber noted, you can check "Restricted Group" and uncheck "New Users Moderated" in your Spam Control settings.

You will instead have to approve each applicant's subscription. Bruce

Steve -- It's the blue pull-down menu at top left. See/g/GroupManagersForum/message/22622for a screenshot.

There have been several 'limits' over the years on GIO. At one time, all transfers were free. Later, a paid group was needed to transfer more than 100,000 messages. Most recently, a year of premium is needed to do the transfer.

I'm seeing groups with messages back to 1997 and 1998, so they can be transferred.

One of my groups transferred last year had 640,000 messages beginning in 2004, all of which are shown at groups.io.

That's 'normal', at least for now. The mechanism behind the digest does it's best to NOT include any quoted material. If there had been a line or two of original material, that should have been included.

f you have a list of those people, you can ban them before they apply. Admin > Members, select the Banned view, enter an email address in the bottom box and click Ban User.
I followed your steps and can't find a way to select the Banned view as you dewcribe it. In Admin*Members, all I see is the list of current members and the Actions pull down on the bottom left.

Bill - Can you see the earlier messages? I'm wondering if the transfer agent ran into the something similar to whatI have. I'm trying to rescue an orphan group, and as of yesterday morning Yahoo tells me the group doesn't evenexist, even though it's stillin my list of groups. At this point all I can do is wait a few days and hope Yahoo restores things.
If you *can* see those first messages, your options may be to request another transfer or contact support. Bruce can bestadvise you on those options.

text in post not showing on digest

Has anyone had this happen? A member sent in a message with text and 4 attachments. It came through fine on individual and plain digest, but on the full digest, only the subject line and the attachments came through. The entire message did not appear. The only thing that could be is that the original message was forwarded (it had those arrows in front of each line). Any thoughts? If this is a bug, any point to submit to support or he's too busy?
Thanks, Sally

Re: "Average Pace" of transfers

This is a crazy system.

We were 691 groups ahead of mine at 2:30 this afternoon.
There were 835 groups ahead of mine at 4:00 this afternoon.
And there are 841 groups ahead of mine at 4:50 this afternoon.

Has anyone paid extra in the last couple of days and can tell me what the progress chart looks like for you?

Re: How to add a photo on member icon #howto

I've noticed the semantics can be tricky. I poke around and see stuff. I can do the large group top photo. Thanks for the tip.

Melissa,

It's in your Subscription/Group Profile. Slightly misleading name, it's your profile as the group sees it, not the profile of the group if you follow me :-)

Is there any setting which will allow a first message by a group member to by-pass moderation?

I have a member that reports:

There’s a section in settings that requires one thing be chosen as a spam prevention. I chose restricted membership and was able to undo the message moderation for new members.

True or false and if true, what are the ramifications other than not having the first message moderated?

Didn't I see something to the effect that Groups.IO will allow us only to carry 10 years worth of message history? So, with 2007 forward you have a bit more than that.

I don't know if attempting a repeat transfer for just the messages will work, or make a mess of things. Have you tried to access those old messages yourself, using Yahoo Groups' own user interface? If you can't, then the transfer agent probably won't be able to, either.

Failing that, your best option is to contact [email protected]. Please come back and tell us what you find out, as this issue could come up again.

Bruce

That's typically what you see when you try to invite that address to your GIO group instead of the YG as stated.

Based on a quick test, they can't even get to the group home page. Even entering the URL of the group in the address bar results in an error page in my browser saying, "The page isn’t redirecting properly." When I tried to go to the messages page, it gave the red alert saying I wasn't a member of that group.
