Re: Group Settings - Only Moderators Can Post?
Gene,
Any group can be an announcement group, equally you can change it to not be at any time. The only difference is whether the checkbox Frances referred to earlier is ticked. You could think of it as a quick way to temporarily block regular members from posting. Typically this would be checked for a sub group (e.g. for housekeeping announcements), setting it for the main group is a bit weird unless you plan to give all of your subscribers the moderator super-power (that way madness lies...). |
Re: "Average Pace" of transfers
That is not what I am seeing with my groups waiting. ? The reason, I believe, is that some that are behind me in the queue are paying the extra $200 to expedite their group so they jump in front of me. If you are new to the transfer queue then your number may be a better measure as you may be behind some of those jumping ahead of me but you are behind them. ? Jim? ? ?

Re: Group Settings - Only Moderators Can Post?
As I said earlier today, to fix it,
go to Admin, Settings. In Spam Control,
Make sure that Announcement Group isn't ticked. Untick it if it is. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page and update to save.
Not the "wrong kind" but your settings are wrong for what you want. A quick and easy fix! See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Quick-Start-for-Group-Formation Frances

Re: Creating a database map view
Bruce and Duane,
Thank you for the explanations!? Worked perfectly -- a significant number of our members have already located themselves on the map. As I mentioned in the first email, we're Yahoo refugees and it's so refreshing to find a supportive user group so ready to help others.? Makes us sorry we didn't move sooner.? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI think that what you are telling me is that the Home Page settings?with the megaphone followed by, "?Only moderators can post to the group.¡± ?means that only moderators can post Announcements. ?Is that correct?I want that setting but I certainly want the subscribers to be permitted to post Topics and Messages once?their memberships have been approved. Re: Transferring Yahoo group after October 28
Larry, In the last two days, I experienced the same lack of access to my Yahoo group management functions that you describe. I resolved it accidentally by clicking to another Yahoo group I moderate and saw that I had access to management functions on that group. So I clicked back to the first group and my management functions reappeared. This leads me to suggest that you log out of yahoo, clear your browser cache and log back in. Or try a different browser or from a different device. If you know how to remove just the Yahoo cookies ¡ª which is a different process for each browser ¡ª you could try that as well, then log back in. I still can't gain access to my own group "Management" functions, but I was able to request and receive a download of all my groups, even the ones that I'm just a member of. There is a folder for each group, with sub-folders for files and messages, but not for photos and attachments. Only the downloads for groups with owner privileges included photos. That's not a huge deal since I can manually download the photos without owner privileges, and there aren't that many of them. |

Re: Transfer steps
My YG was transferred last night. Since my only working computer is at work right now, I haven¡¯t thoroughly checked everything out, but what I¡¯ve seen so far on my phone looks great.?
One thing puzzles me though. I understand that a G.io account holder¡¯s email address is his/her¡¯s user ID. My YG and G.io display names and primary email addresses were the same....I just realized the answer to my question. I was going to ask why, when I changed the primary email address on my YG account before the transfer so that I¡¯d be transferred with my original join date, my YG membership didn¡¯t transfer over. But while I was typing I realized that since my YG was already in step 3 when I changed my YG email address it was too late. G.io had copied (exported?) my YG prior to my email address change. Re: What is the new wait time for transferring from Yahoo?
#transfer
No one will be able to predict. But be patient and your group data would be transferred before Yahoo deletes them. Mine stands around 800 for several days.

Re: Claimed pending posts
Io are much better than Yahoo ever were, I just couldn't find a link to email them about problems or bugs.
Yes I have a mod named Wanda, but she has no idea how she claimed them and we have both tried approving the messages with no success. Thankyou for the support email address . I will report it as a bug. Thanks everyone for your help. Sheila |
Re: Detailed Instructions on How to Conduct a Yahoo Transfer
Thanks for the reply, Bruce.
Sorry to have asked again but was unclear whether we could maybe do the invite first, then wait.... So..... One can NO LONGER initiate an invite of [transfer @ groups.io] to his/her YGroup UNTIL AFTER they have UPGRADED their GIO group to Premium in order to have the e-addy ready in their YGroup's membership roster for when they finally do the upgrade to Premium status?
