Sorting among sent invites

Hi there,
I was trying to resend invites among the people who haven't accepted an invitation yet to our group. I tried to sort by status and by date, but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. ?The results always seem to never come back the same which throws me off as I'm trying to meticulously send invitations back out to anyone who hasn't responded to the initial invite. ?For example, if I sort by status so I can look at all the sent but not accepted invites, the resulting sort doesn't seem to be organized by date or alphabetical, but seems to randomize itself each time. ?So it isn't easy for me to select and page over. ?Perhaps what I'm looking for is a two-step search.
Is this a bug or just how filters work?

Thanks,

Having multiple subscribers begin to bounce after migration to groups.io is normal.

Frances.

I get two emails.? The first informs me of a subscription needing approval and , as I would expect on yahoo,? the two links

To approve this member via email, simply reply to this message.

To reject this member via email, forward this message to:

But on the second email - where the subscriber has answered the question - those links are not offered.? Sp, presumably, I could accept by replying to that email, but not reject.? To reject I would have to find the matching approval.

Larry -- When you look at your own membership record in this Yahoo group, do you have a green crown or a blue crown?

If it's green, you are a Moderator, not an Owner, no matter what the tool-tip might say.

I don't see anywhere where I can recover from this, and Yahoo is no help.
If for any reason you cannot send an invitation, or cannot promote the transfer agent to Moderator, you will have to find someone else to transfer this group.?

Same in io groups.
I get an?email to tell me "Subscription Approval Needed".? I can simply reply to that email to approve or go to the group and do it manually on the web.

You need to invite [email protected] to your YG.? See the Detailed Instructions at /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/detailed_instructions_on_how/39832225? You, another moderator with the proper privileges, or the owner will need to make that address a moderator after the invitation is accepted.

A small part of me wants to agree with you, but given that Yahoo was funded by (mainly annoying) advertisements and Groups.io is an ad - free zone the charge does not seem inherently unreasonable. Mark (and whatever personnel he employs) are having to do an immense amount of work to try and absorb those fleeing Yahoo, and it is almost certain that he has had to buy or lease significant additional storage capacity to cater for it all.

What alternative funding model would you have used?

You might also note that for your money you are actually getting 12 months - worth of additional storage capacity; if you revert to being a Basic / free group after your initial 12 months have elapsed then your storage will drop to 1 GB, and if you want to retain all your existing material then you will have to continue paying to maintain your Premium status.

I am a moderator of a Yahoo forum granted permission to effect the conversion to Groups.io. I've gotten to the point of creating [email protected]. I've been told I need to set that address as a moderator in the Yahoo group. I can't find anyway to do this and have a sneaky feeling that I have to be the owner of the group to do make this change. Is this true and if not, how do I make the new member a moderator?

No one from Groups.io management monitors this group (as far as we know), but based on previous messages, that's not going to happen.? With 200 members, they'd only need to chip on $1 each.? And since you'll have a Premium group for at least a year, you can ask for Donations on the group, provided you set up a Stripe account, ? (Note: Fee was reduced to 5% on May 14.)

Photo Description content - Automated transfer from Yahoo Groups to Groups.io

Hi folks,

Just a simple question:

During the Automated Transfer process from Yahoo Groups to Groups.io, does the photo or file DESCRIPTION content from my Yahoo Groups group get automatically
carried across to my Groups.io group or is it just (eg in the case of photos) the photo filename & its album/folder that its located in that gets carried across?
Need to know this ASAP please.

Oh and our Yahoo group is a hobby group (non profit/no $) small group of only 200+ members, but active since 2005, with only 2-3GB of files & photos in storage. It's a huge ask to pay
US$220 for at least the first year. Hopefully we can find the funds <sigh>.

I like Groups.io - it continues to keep getting better. Hope you can offer a better deal for small no $ hobby groups like ours, where we freely offer our time for research & are
responsible for preserving shortwave radio transmission infrastructure history - no one else is.

I'm dirty on Yahoo Groups only giving us 6-7 weeks notice during the busy lead up to Christmas - not happy at all.

Ian

Re: Making members' email addresses invisible

I am sorry to say that you are wrong John.
I read my group mail as an email - with both yahoo and io groups.? And I can assure you that in gmail webmail and reading in my email client the email address of the sender of both is visible (I just double checked with a yahoo group post I received a couple of hours ago).

The choice is to hide the member list from members.? In my groups the members are only visible to owner and moderator, some group owners choose to have the member list visible to all.

I'd just like to comment on one things that Duane said about YahooGroups. In my experience as Owner of a YG group, members' email addresses were NOT shown in their posts and therefore were not visible to anyone except to moderators and owners. Ditto the members' list, showing addresses, on our YG 'site', was only available to mods and owners, NOT to members.

Even YG did this, it's the nature of email lists (forums are a different animal.)? Groups.io has had lawyers investigate GDPR and they believe that it's in full compliance.

Re: Hoping there is an option/alternative for transferring a small non profit (tax exempt) organization's data from Yahoo Groups to Groups.io, without having to spend $110.00 on a one year membership

Why not do the transfer yourself? It takes a little time, but it is doable, especially if you have no need to transfer Messages. You've done the hard work - setting up a community in Groups.IO. You have a small number of subscribers, so getting individuals to switch should be straightforward.

Adding question to +join group

Hi
I'm brand new to group io although I do know Yahoo reasonably well.
Is there a way in which I can add a question for potential subscribers to answer please?? Giving some indication as to why they wish to join the group, ?

They may not be shown in their posts online here.? It depends on the setting you've chosen, as Gilbert mentioned.? To clarify, when I said YG did it, I was referring to the messages they sent out, not the archive.
