Re: How to find status page for transfer
John,
From the FAQ I mentioned: 8. How do I check the transfer status?
?
Transfers are queued up when you first set it up and processed in that order until you get to Step 5.?
?
At that point they are re-ordered based on when the transfer go-ahead is given and uploaded to groups.io in that order (unless you pay $200 for priority service).
?
When you click on the green "Set Up New Transfer" button at bottom left of the Yahoo groups transfer page (/yahootransfer), a new page will come up where you can enter the source and destination group names.?
?
There is also a series of checkboxes for the various areas of the group to transfer (files, photos, members, messages, etc). Simply uncheck the ones you don't want before clicking the "Start New Transfer Process" button.
?
(a) If you've already started a transfer:
?
Go to the Yahoo transfer page at /yahootransfer
?
Select the transfer you want to check status on from "Existing Transfers" at lower right (i.e.: click on the name)
?
The box at the top of the resulting page will tell you the status of that transfer.
?
Repeat for any other transfers you may have in progress.
?
?- if the status is the message that starts "Make sure you have sent an invite to your group":
?
This means that Groups.io has not received your invite yet and that you should send another one. They will send you an email once they have received and accepted an invite. If this message hasn't been updated within 6 hours of you sending your invite, please send another one. This notice will be updated when they ?have received your invite.?
?
(b) For transfers that are actually approved and in progress, see where you are in the queue:
?
When you go to edit your transfer, if it's been submitted for transfer, you'll now see one of these 4 status lines:
?
Your group is awaiting export from Yahoo. [Step 1 of 4]
Your group is being exported from Yahoo right now. [Step 2 of 4]
Your group is awaiting import into Groups.io. There are about N groups ahead of it in the queue. [Step 3 of 4] **
Your group is being imported into Groups.io right now. [Step 4 of 4]
?
** Where N in Step 3 is an estimate as to where you are in the queue. i.e. Your group is about 70th in the queue right now.
?
Step 4 is the biggest bottleneck, as I can only import so many groups at a time without overloading the system. I can't give an estimate as to how long each group takes to be imported, because each group is different (how many photos, how many messages, etc). Also it's dependent on how many groups have requested expedited processing at the time.

Re: Able to edit reject message heading?
Sally,
What I have been doing is just sending a note as to whether approved or not.
You can delete the message to the sender without an auto reply to the sender.

One question - is there a way to change the subject which appears when a message is rejected? It's a little harsh-sounding: "Your message was not approved", especially if the message was a note to the moderators. If not, has this been suggested before?
Thanks, Sally

Sorry to bother you with this drivel.? I'll see what's up with the public viewing aspect of LA Producers.? I know that Groups.io site is still waiting for a transfer.? I'll get to the bottom of this and report back for educational purposes. Bruce, one note.? The Group is "LA Producer".? I kept spelling it in plural with an "s".? Sorry for the confusion.? "Your message was not approved" is both factual and less harsh - this was the result of the suggestion that 'rejected' sounded too harsh. especially if the message was a note to the moderators.in this case I would also explain that it 'was a note to the moderators' and therefore not approved so that it would not be sent to all of the group members. I would also explain that the best way to send a note to the moderators is by using the 'Group Owner' email address, by either: -clicking on "Contact Group Owner" near the bottom of most email messages from the Groups OR -click on "Groups.io" in 'Groups.io links' near the bottom of most email messages from Groups.io and click on "<their Group>" in the list of their Groups and click on "Home" in the left hand column and scroll to near the bottom of their Group's Home page e.g. for this group it says Group Owner: [email protected] OR - add "+owner" (without quotes) before the "@" sign in their Group's posting email address e.g. for this group change [email protected] to: [email protected] I would then try to answer their note, by having CC'd all Moderators (in the 'not approval notice', and then Replying All to their quoted message. Either they will understand that their more direct approach would have been to address the 'Group Owner' email address, or they will find themselves repeating the above process, again and again, which they may be fine with, if they get their answer... If not, has this been suggested before? What alternative(s) did you have in mind? -Michael |

I haven't heard anyone report this before. Have you confirmed this with other group members, or just yourself? Have you looked for it in your spam/junk email folder? Have you checked your own Email Delivery History? If it really didn't go out, you can always send it manually. The easiest way is to just paste it into a group message and post it as a Special Notice. If you want it to go out to the people on "No Email" too..
Hope this helps, Bruce |

By chance can you give me any part of a string that I

GIO? ?
Hi Linda, ? I have done that the last days. -Use Firefox -Move over the Photo with the mouse pointer -Press the right button -Select inspect element or something like that -Then go to the window that has opened -In this window some lines above the cursor is a line that contains the URL of the photo -Mark this line -Press the right mouse button -select ->copy -> outer HTML?? or something like that -open a new tab -insert that copied text -Strip everything that is not the URL of the picture away -Open the URL -You should now see the picture -Press the right butten and save the photo to your harddisk -Done :-) ? If you can't get this done email me the groupname and I will post the photo back to you. ? Isidro ? ? - Am 31.10.2019 um 00:34 schrieb Linda N:
I have transferred or recreated a number of groups from YG onto GIO. I have backed up messages/files/photos on the groups that were not full "easy transfers", via PG Offline. My question is whether there is a way to download existing cover photos from YG, which I had initially created and uploaded years ago but failed to keep the originals files accessible. It would be nice to be able to reuse some of these banner photos on the new groups rather than starting from scratch. I do not see any obvious way to download them from the YGs, nor can I see where they would be stored on the group site/settings. Any suggestions? Linda N ? |

Apparently, too many people were struggling to realize that they had to actually click in the box and select a group name. If you have no list of links here...and it appears that you do not...then you don't have any transfers started. Please also consider that you could be logged in with the wrong email address. Re: Accepting new member requests before transfer is complete?
John B
From what I've read, a brand new member should be OK to join.? If an old member joins at Groups.io before the official transfer,? the old member settings and join date will be ignored.? These are relatively minor issues.
New posts at Groups.io before the official mirgration, from what I've seen in some groups, can cause minor issues with the message numbers.? The new posts will be numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, .., N.? The migrated posts will be numbered N+1, N+2, etc.? So if the posts are sorted by date, the numbers will be jumbled up.? So if you go to message #1 expecting the see the first Yahoo post, instead you will see the first post at Groups.io.? Also, if you scroll through the messages one by one using the < and > buttons, there will be an error message that there are no posts before the #1 message, and therefore you cannot reach the old messages from Yahoo Groups by scrolling through.? But it only affects scrolling, and you can still access the old messages in other ways (e.g. sorting by date). You can prevent the members from posting by placing them on moderation.? There is a group setting where the first N posts from new members are moderated. |

Re: Transferring Yahoo group after October 28
Larry,
I was experimenting a little earlier today with a little test group I've had on Y! since, well, forever it seems like. I was able to send an invite to join the group to a non-Yahoo email account, so I think Duane's comment about the Yahoo functionality is correct. Unless they're deliberately blocking groups.io, of course... |

Duane,
Here's one other bit of info from the potential member.
I asked if he registered with that email "rhys@..." and if he had checked his SPAM folder.? "yes" to both questions. Thanks, Peter
That notice means that the person has a Groups.io account, not that they've joined any groups.? He should go to your group homepage and click on the Join button down the page. |

I've asked for a screen shot of the "Big Cheap" page.? After I asked this question, I realized that there are indeed groups that can remain private.? So for all I know "Big Cheap" exists. Peter |
