As you've discovered, this is not possible.? The only way to move something between main and sub groups is to download, upload to the new location, and delete the original.

Re: quoted text not included in digests

Thanks for the suggestion, but sadly it did not work for us. I got a digest with two blank emails and one email that just said 'See comments inline'

Well, this is the first time I'm really having a problem with how something functions in Groups.io. A digest that doesn't include quoted text is just not functional. Some people have a strong preference for replying inline, and are not likely to remember doing otherwise, just to communicate with a Gio list. And sometimes there are conversations across lists and across platforms, where this kind of limitation is going to just break the entire thread.

Is this a bug, or deliberate? I don't think it's the greatest time to bring this up now, in the midst of the massive Yahoo exodus, but what's the best way to address this with Mark, et al? I depend on digests to keep me from getting totally overloaded with list mail, so getting incomplete digests is a pretty big deal breaker for me.

Re: Text messages to T-Mobile users via groups.io #addmembers #sms

Raven,

I tried inviting myself as a test; ... except that the message is
rejected with
"Failed - 550 permanent failure for one or more recipients
(xxx@...:550 Sender IP reverse lookup rejected)"
If you want to pursue this ask your carrier specifically what that message means. Groups.io's outbound server should pass a reverse lookup, Gmail and other services seem satisfied enough with it.

Re: Emails response from groups.io not working

Earl,

When I send an email to the +owner, +help, I get no response. I
Messages to the +owner address are forwarded to each moderator / owner's email address, subject to a control in their Subscription page.

+owner messages, if from a member, are also delivered to the +owner tab of the member's page in the Members list. +owner messages from non-members are not stored on the site.

Messages to the +help address are handled by an auto-responder. They are not stored on site or forwarded.

Re: Managers Forum - My Topic

Scott,

Here is a stupid question. How do I find my topics or topics I have
commented on in the GroupManagersForum? Is there a filter or link for
my messages?
There is a search option. For example, Click the Search button near the top of Messages (or Topics) and in the search box enter posterid:129 and you'll find all of my posts.

You can find anyone's posterid number by looking in the More menu under a message that person posted. Select the "All Messages By This Member" item and that will perform a search on that person's posterid.

If the group makes the Directory available to members, and if both you and the target person have made their Profile visible to members, you can find the "All Messages By This Member" link on their profile.

Moving folders between 'main' and sub-groups

Martin Best

I had 8 Yahoo groups that I merged into one "super-group" for transfer to Groups.io, where I was able to form corresponding sub-groups.
In merging the Yahoo groups, I needed to upload over 350 files to the super-group Files for transfer.

Now I would like to move the folders down from 'main' to each new sub-group but I can't find how to do this (if it is possible).
Clicking on Move in 'Main' shows the structure of 'main' but none of the sub-groups.

I have used Search and checked Wiki but cannot see that this question has been addressed anywhere, except that it didn't seem to be possible to move Photo albums.
I don't want to have to upload 350+ files again.
Can anybody advise me, please?.

Re: Managers Forum - My Topic

Frances, OK that works. Thank you. Now another question. Is there anyway I can "pin" myself in the directory so I don't have to search for myself in the directory? Thanks.
?I don't know about pinning yourself
?I did find your posterID - sent it to you (but I don't remember how I found it!)?That is searchable in the search box.

Re: Pricing for transfering YahooGroups to groups.io

Hi Rubens,

How much does it cost for a premium group?
The cost is $220 USD per year for the Premium Yearly plan (effective 2019-10-22). This allows you to use the groups.io transfer agent. You can change the group back to the Basic plan after the year if you wish.
?
Can I transfer a Yahoo Group into a Subgroup?
Yes. Upgrading your Primary Group to the Premium Yearly plan covers your subgroups as well. No extra fee to transfer YG into subgroups.?
?
Can I transfer more than one Yahoo Group into one Groups.io group?
Yes. The Premium Yearly plan allows multiple Yahoo Groups to be transferred to your Primary group and/or its subgroups. Be sure to transfer one at a time to avoid problems.
?
If you transfer more than one Yahoo Group into the same Primary or Subgroup the additional content appends to what's already been transferred. Any members already present in the Groups.io group will not be transferred again by later transfers.

See the FAQ:?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/FAQ-on-Moving-from-Yahoo-Groups
Also contains some alternatives.

Pricing for transfering YahooGroups to groups.io

Hi,

Please, the 220 dollars fee is for just one group or is it the same for all groups I have? I upgraded to Premium and I have 4 groups. Do I have to pay 220 dollars for each group or does it apply to all groups I have at Yahoo?

All the best,

Rubens

No problems on my Samsung Galaxy J7 Android phone.

My only problem is Yahoogroups delayed messages for first time inany months, this as a moderator of groups that I don't own.

Re: Emails response from groups.io not working

Hi Frances,

Messages fall under that person's membership if they have sent a message to your owners address. So you will have to go to your members list, find a member and click on +owner messages I hope this helps.

Honestly I forget where you can see them on the group. But not in the message archive.

Check your email trash, etc.

Help email, I am quite sure, just sends you some emailed help info. Again, it is not a post.

Re: Managers Forum - My Topic

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi,
One of the more visible ways of doing it is searching the archive, typicaly located at:

Substitute the group name 9and subdomain if using subgroups) with your group name. From that page, click Search, and search for the content you are looking for.

Cheers,

joseph

No, it requires at least a moderator with the "Add, remove, and change moderator privileges" permission to do it.

Re: Managers Forum - My Topic

Scott, if you are in the Directory - you don't have to be - you can find your name and click on it. It says All Messages from this member.
And an even easier way since you have posted recently - find your name at the bottom of ?your message in the Message archive. Click on it.

Re: Troubles making "[email protected]" a GIO moderator

Steve Bass

Bruce,

I feel like a dunce and I'm afraid I may do some harm. I read through your Bruce's Detailed Instructions, but still stuggling.

Yesterday, the transfer process was halted until I upgraded to premium, which I did.

The problem: I started with $20 premium monthly and charged $20 on 10/27. I upgraded to Premium yearly today, but today's upgrade to yearly wasn't charged.

As you advised, I restarted the transfer process by clicking the Set Up a New Transfer and added the YG name and GIO name from the pull down.

Clicking "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" green button only refreshes the page.

1. YG has a [email protected] member with moderator rights.

2. The pink area on Yahoo Group Transfer Setup says, "We have accepted the invite to your group. If you have not already, make [email protected] a moderator of your group. Once you have done that, tell us when you are ready to transfer your group."

3. I again tried "Set Up A New Transfer" and this time the pink box said, "Set up and start the transfer process below. To transfer a group, your Groups.io group must be upgraded to the Premium Yearly option." The Plans and Pricing page set me on the static pricing page that asks me to start a group.

Any guidance is very much appreciated

Thanks,

--Steve

Steve -- Good. That's what you needed to do to proceed.

I tried adding "[email protected]" to the list, but (now obviously), I can't. So the process has stopped until GIO actually adds that address.

You're supposed to invite the transfer agent to your YAHOO GROUP. The agent cannot transfer content from Yahoo if you don't give it access to the data.

Please note that, at some point, you must also promote the transfer agent to be a Moderator of your Yahoo group. If you are not the Owner of the Yahoo group, you probably won't be able to do this. Find someone who can.

Or is there something more I need to do?

It sounds like you have completed Step 1. Please see /g/GroupManagersForum/message/19673 for detailed instructions on how to proceed.

Regards,
Bruce
