Re: reply to sender/group
I always select, for all my Groups, the Settings option for "Reply to Sender" only. That usually prevents inadvertently private comments from going to the whole group when the usual "Reply" button is clicked to initiate the reply.

But, if the sender really wants his reply to go to the whole Group, he can click "Reply All" and his reply will go both to the sender and to the whole Group. That makes it the choice of the individual replying to the email. I make this Setting clear in a brief footer attached to each Group email. This works well in my Thunderbird email client. I can only presume it also works in web mail, which I never, never use. Larry On 10/29/2019 8:54 AM, Herb Gellis wrote:

Robert, I almost missed this part:
One suggestion is to use to capture an archive of your Yahoo groups, before the December cut off. Then watch for any announcements from Personal Groupware, or Groups.io, or elsewhere, about options for importing to your Groups.io group from such an archive. I have no idea if that's something Groups.io will consider once all the furor has died down, but it seems logical. It is something Personal Groupware is considering, and other third-parties, but they can't really "import" data to Groups.io, so I'm not certain what they have in mind. But I'm expecting announcements since there's so much unmet need. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

I think Peter was talking about how to promote someone in Groups.io.
For the transfer email, you must go to YahooGroups and invite the transfer email address to your YahooGroups. Robert, Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...
Green crown means you're a moderator, not an owner. And evidently a moderator without the privilege to "
Add, remove, and change moderator privileges
" -- without which you are stuck.
No, Customer Care would never have done that. But years ago, when Yahoo Groups was still supported you could have petitioned them to upgrade your moderator privileges to include that all-important one.
As far as I know you only have a path forward if you have another membership in that group (under a different email address) one that has a blue crown or a green crown with the needed privilege.
? And completely unable to do anything about your position in a Yahoo Group, or theirs. I suspect that the best you can hope for is a refund of your Premium upgrade fee, if you upgraded solely to do the transfer. Re: adding owners
On my group's homepage, there is not an Admin?in the left panel.? I have been clicking on Management/Manage Members?from a menu at the upper right.? I then click on the member ([email protected]) and a window comes up with member information including Role.? Role is set at "member" and cannot be changed.? I am the only owner so something must be wrong.? Any ideas?

Ask your group owner to go to Admin, Settings and scroll all the way down to Files? Files Permissions?
Who can view and upload to the group files section.

Easy Group Transfer - Problem with Moderator Assignment in Yahoo
#transfer
#moderation
#owner
#yahoo
I am the owner of a Yahoo Group which I am trying to migrate to Groups.io using Easy Group Transfer.? I created a new group at groups.io and upgraded to Premium service (on Oct 27, 2019).? I invited [email protected] as per instructions and received the email yesterday instructing me to make [email protected] a moderator in the Yahoo group.? However, even though I am the owner of the Yahoo group, it will not let me change the role of any member.? I am following all instructions to the letter.? The role for [email protected] is locked as member and will not let me make a change.? I had this problem with Yahoo last year and they never fixed it.? I believe it had to do with the fact that there were originally 2 owners and the first one passed away last year.? He was listed as first owner (blue crown vs my green crown) but I was never able to get his name removed or downgraded.? From forums, I saw that others had similar problems with Yahoo.? Please advise me how to proceed so I can transfer my group.? I am stuck at the step where I make [email protected] a moderator.? If there is another way to designate [email protected] as moderator, please let me know.? I have sent a help request to Groups.io tech support but I am sure they are swamped so I decided to pass this on to this forum for possible suggestions. |
Grayed out Upload button
I belong to a couple of Groups.io groups. Every time I put my Mouser over the Files upload buttons, I get a circle with a line through it and the upload buttons are grayed out. Clicking any of the 3 upload buttons does nothing. Yes, I am logged into the groups when I try to upload a file. The only group I am moderated is because that group says: "New Member Moderated" The other groups I'm not moderated. I have the same problem trying to upload a photo and a file, same grayed out upload buttons in Files, and no upload button in the photos. Does anyone have a fix for this or know what the group owner, a friend of mine, has to do to allow members to upload files and photos? 73 Mike W5RKL |
Re: Joining the Yahoo group
seidmad, My invitation to "transfer" to join my Yahoo group has now been accepted (YAY!), although Yahoo does not yet show that.? It wouldn't surprise me if Yahoo is slow about updating the Members list, like everything else it seems. Or you my need to refresh the page using Ctrl+F5. Somewhere Yahoo says that to join the group, you have to both (a) accept the invitation and (b) sign in with your Yahoo ID.? Is it safe to assume that, to the extent necessary, not just (a) but also (b) has been accomplished? Yes. Mark knows the process (all too well by now). He has probably been signed in continuously through this high-throughput time. HOW DO I DO THIS???5.1 Return to your YAHOO GROUP and log in. Find the "[email protected]" member record (sorting by join date is the easiest way) and promote it to a Moderator. Instructions for this can be found at?. 5.2 Return to the groups.io page that you bookmarked in #0.4 above one more time. Once again, pull down the "Existing Transfers" menu at bottom right and select the group you're ready to transfer. On the resulting page, click the green "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" button.?
