Re: Hashtag search has no results

Oh! ?I was wondering if this was an indexing issue. ?Thanks!

Re: Importing CSV Database files

I'd suggest creating a Database on and then exporting it to a json file.? then, you could maybe use that as your template?? Possible that creating the database that way -- and then you could import the data in csv.
?
Back when transfer was free, imported our databases.? I was then able to use that guidance to create json templates.
?
So, not sure that will help but may let you see certain characteristics of each cell.
?
Linda

[Mod Note: The current, paid transfer also imports databases. See?/yahootransfer, "What We Transfer"]

Locked Re: Price doubled?

I can see the price going up $10 or $20.? But double?? The owners of Group I/O are getting a lot more money from folks leaving yahoo.? I guess that was not enough for them.? It is actions like this that gave a company a very bad name.

Good. This confirms the status you are on.

If you're still struggling, try this:?
  1. Pull down the Management menu and select "Activity Log."?
  2. In the row of links across the top, click "Moderator Activity."
  3. In the Search Moderator Activity query box, enter "[email protected]".
  4. Click the purple Search button.
This should bring up a list of all moderator activity that has occurred with the groups.io transfer agent...and who did it.?If you instead select "Membership Activity" in step #2 above you can also determine when the invitation was sent and when it was accepted.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Re: [email protected] isn't a member of my Yahoo group

Transfer process is working like a charm even though it took several days and for current requests will take quite some time. In our case, we need to transfer messages going back to 2000. If you just want to transfer members, it can me done manually very quickly even though some computer skills are needed. Groups.io is godsent and we have a new platform to migrate to. Mark's foresight is helping millions of users.

Dave -- I have run into this, too, and I sent a note to Mark about it. Turns out, search indexing runs in a separate process from normal groups.io operations. With this heavy server load, the indexing is lagging behind a bit.

Behavior can reasonably be expected to return to normal once this big migration is over. Meanwhile, just wait an hour or so and you should be able to find it.?

Edward -- Okay, based on this screenshot, you have invited the transfer agent and it's been accepted, but you're having trouble finding it.

Go to your Yahoo group. Pull down the Management menu and select Manage Members. See screenshot #1 (attached).

In the list of members click the "Joined" column header so the little caret to the right points down. See screenshot #2. This should bring the most recent members to the top.

Look in the column labeled Email. The agent's record should have "[email protected]" here. If you are still allowing people to freely join the group, it may not be the first record. Keep scrolling down until you find it. When you do find it, follow the instructions found at? to promote it to a Moderator, then return to groups.io and click the green button (give the go-ahead).

If you get to the point where the "Joined" date is well before the date you sent the invitation, then the transfer agent membership must have been deleted. Do you have any other Moderators or Owners who might have done this?

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Okay easy to say but I'll try.
I thought I explained myself properly.

accidentally changed domain name?

Hi!

I messed up. I changed the email address for my group "main@aah-announce and I think I changed the domain name because I now receive a message saying my group does not exist anymore. It has not been approved yet and it has a subgroup that shows up. The group is aah-announce. Can someone help?

Thank you,
Betsy

Re: [email protected]: Invalid email address

LOL. To answer my own question: RTFM:

Step 3. Send an invite from your Yahoo Group to [email protected]
I missed the bit that said send the invite from my YAHOO Group.

I was trying to invite to my io group.

Duh.

Messages needing approval #messages

Hi...I'm glad to be a part of this group. I am owner of a few groups and I have them set where new members have to be approved but NOT where messages have to be approved. But, I'm still having to approve messages, and it's a big pain. Can someone help?

Hashtag search has no results

Edited

I created a hashtag (#playlist), and posted a topic with that hashtag in the subject. ?But doing a hashtag search does not find the topic. ?If I go into the hashtags configuration page I can see that there is 1 topic with that hashtag. ?So why doesn¡¯t a search work?

If I add one of the default hashtags (#cal-cancelled) to a message, a search will find the cancelled calendar event, but not the message.

Importing CSV Database files

I created and maintained 7 databases for our previous group on Yahoo. What a relief to find Groups.io particularly that they host databases and allow CSV file imports. However, while the process appears simple the process does not appear to work for me. I created Columns that exactly match the previous database and then tried to import - no result. Some of the new Groups.io database column characteristics may not match the old database format (i.e. single line vs. paragraph).
Can anyone really familiar with the a successful process offer any advice? Thanks!

[email protected]: Invalid email address

Received this when I tried to send the transfer email invite. Is this the correct address or has it changed?

The following email addresses had errors:

Re: How to Include Message History on Group Home Page

Looks like no one answered you.?
I am quite sure it is automatic. Builds as you send and get messages to your group. And based on the travel group I am with, it includes the number of messages for your Yahoo Group if you use the transfer. We have back to March 1999!

PG Offline users #pgoffline

Wilson, main programmer and owner of PGO, made an encouraging comment this morning,

"I am working on adding functionality to PGO to allow you to post all the YG content into groups.io.

?Once its ready, I would suggest creating a sub-group called "YG archive" or something.

?Then you will be able to tell PGO to effectively email all the old posts to the sub group."

He didn't give any indication of when it might be ready or any other details, but he does understand the urgency.? I think this would be a great addition for those that can't quite afford to pay for a transfer (PGO is $25.)? It may not be quite as slick, but will save the archives and should give access to them online.

Re: Progress of sorts

If you go to?
? ?groups.io/yahootransfer
and scroll to the bottom, in the lower right, there will be a pull-down menu of your groups in process.
If you click on your group, you will be shown a page that is titled something like "Easy Group Transfer Status"

In the second section it will say something like "Your group in the queue for transfer.? There are NN groups ahead of you."
It is my experience that they are doing about 50 or 60 groups a day.? That should give you a basis to estimate when your
group will be transferred.

Re: Progress of sorts

Yes, that's the proper thing to do.? You can always check on the status now and then to see what's happening.? I'm sure it's difficult for those that caught in this mess to be patient, but that's the best thing to do.

#transfer #transfer

Hi all, I just started setting up to do a transfer from Yahoo to Groups IO I paid for the year subscription but the "set up new transfer" button did not show up. Where do I find this in the menu or how do I get to it if I have logged off. TIA
