Re: Yahoogroups- no management link, no way to access member list #yahoo

You should use a desktop. Then you log in as a moderator and you will be able to do everything needed to move your group out of Yahoo.

I am accessing my yahoo group via my android smartphone. I cannot see any link for management and can find no link to member list in order to make [email protected] a moderator. I can change the description, invite new members, etc, but I am at a loss. I have had this group for 18 years, and have never had this problem before.?

I have consulted Yahoo help, both with regard to moderator access and wrt the new groups shutdown situation, but neither of these addressed the problem. Without access to my member list, I can't even invite my members on the form.

Does anybody know whether Yahoo has restricted access? Also, I cannot access the footer of any YahooGroups page because of a nag screen that has no way to dismiss it, reminding about the changes. So I can't click "full desktop site," assuming such a link exists.?

No, that's part of the boiler plate that can't be changed.? If you pay for an Enterprise group, you should be able to.? It allows "Fully customizable home page".

Hi, B?rbel,

?

Sorry to say that Pixabay is also not necessarily safe.? I have heard artists say that they found their images shared there unlawfully by others.

?

I suppose that in this case pixabay has the problem. My husband and I have a blog and use predominantly pixabay fotos there. We always make sure to sign the foto ¡°permission by pixabay¡±, which is what they are asking for.

Re: Can not get transfer request to show up in the "In Process" list

Edited

Only the person that initiated the transfer will see it in the list.? If it wasn't you, find out who did and ask them to check the status.? If it was you, make sure you're signed int o Groups.io with the same email address you used to start the process.? Carefully double check the steps at /g/GroupManagersForum/message/19673

Can not get transfer request to show up in the "In Process" list

I am one of the many trying to get a group moved from yahoogroups to groups.io

I go into the easy group transfer, then yahoo group instructions, but there is nothing in the Existing Transfers even though I have requested it?

Yahoogroup, leopardcat@...

Groups.io that I setup to transfer to [email protected]

I have seen the [email protected] in the yahoo group and that has been changed to moderator.

I have seen the email saying [email protected] has been approved.

?

?

I have read the Wiki page, and the one step that looks messed up is I have not seen the email directing me to make the [email protected] a member but I did see that member in yahoo so as I said above, we changed it to moderator, I have tried looking in spam, etc. but do not see it?

?

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong or how to get the transfer started?

?

Darci

Check the status on the transfer page for your group.? It will tell you at the top if the invitation has been received.

I did this two days ago and still have not gotten any reply from GIO. worried they did not ge5 my invitation to my Y!G.?

Re: [email protected] isn't a member of my Yahoo group

I joined on 21st, the group was approved, sent the invite the same day and received my transfer letter on the 22nd.

Clearly not. It is worth noting that Mark is one of "the powers-that-be".

He has in the past received complaints from copyright holders about some groups using copyright images without permission and his action is (IIRC) swift and decisive.

I guess a first step must be to look at the uploads by member x and check if the images are similar (= reasonable to think they are done by the same person) or is there such a variety of subjects and styles that it could be simply uploads from different sources from member x (replace x with the name of the member).
And get in touch with member x and ask if it is his/her own original photo, painting etc.

Making changes to an image with a graphics program like Photoshop, PSP, Gimp etc does not transfer the ? to you.

And while e.g. does allow some uses of the images, it explicitly rules out using any image on social media, even a no-no if you give proper credit.

The authors of pictures have numerous rights under copyright law; at least under German law the author alone determines whether and how his pictures may be used. If he discovers one of his fotos on a site other than his own, he can sue for compensation. This can cost thousands of dollars.

For my publications I use pixabay. There are millions of pictures for free, but you mus register there. So you are on the safe side.

Hi, Victoria ¨C

?

Good to know. Most of my experience comes in the vintage movie field, and in many of those cases the studios that created the images are long gone and the photographers who created portraits in the 1920¡¯s and 1930¡¯s are also long gone. The result, naturally enough, is that there is (or was) a thriving trade in selling duplicates of films and copies of stills, with no royalties paid to anyone. (I have never been in the business, but I know a lot of people who have.) So it is a fairly new thing for me to have to worry about a photographer just waiting in the wings to pounce! ?

?

This is a case, I think, of ¡°better safe than sorry¡± and ¡°a word to the wise,¡± to recycle a couple of appropriate clich¨¦s. ?

?

Thanks again!

Thanks for posting these, Steph!

?

And btw, if it is not too much trouble, could you send the other sites that you¡¯ve got for free images? Feel free to send them to me off-list if you feel it would be clogging up this list.

No, that's incorrect.? Unless it specifically says free to use or public domain, you shouldn't use it.

The picture should be as you want it to appear.? The only editing done is to scale it to fit.? Nothing is overlaid on it, all that is below.
