No, you need to follow the steps in /g/GroupManagersForum/message/19673 exactly.? The transfer is initiated before inviting [email protected] to your YG.

On a related note, what should the hangtime between setting the transfer agent as a moderator and the transfer page updating with the go-ahead button? The how-to guide makes it seem largely instantaneous.

#transfer #transfer

First off a huge thank you to all behind groups.io as I am sure you are getting slammed with transfer requests like crazy. I do not want to add to the logjam if possible so I want to do a sanity check here.

I have a small group that I want to transfer from Yahoo.

--- I made a new group here on groups.io
--- I upgraded to premium.
--- I went back to Yahoo and invited [email protected] to join the group.

My question - if things are correct, will they automatically accept the invite or is that where it is a manual process of waiting a few days for acceptance by a human comes in? I totally get it taking them a few days to work through the queue and I am fine with waiting there as long as that is where the first wait is. (I just don't trust Yahoo that the invite went out.)

I appreciate whomever posted where to check the transfer status too, even though I know we won't show there yet.

Thank you.

Re: Home Page Photo Query

Doug,
You don't forward a header photo to groups.io, you change it yourself.
There has been a link posted on how to do that.... maybe someone will repost it for you.

Subject: [GMF] Home Page Photo Query

Hello.

I am unable to find the original file of my group's picture in my computer to send you, so will probably have to copy the one being used on Yahoo. No problem - I can do this with good quality.

This has my group name on it, and the second line shows the number of members (which can vary from day to day).

Should I photoshop out the text before forwarding it to Groups.io, and does Groups.io add the name of my group and members count to the new picture?

I think yahoo added this wording, but I can't remember..

My Thanks.

Re: Acceptance time frame for [email protected] account #transfer

A timeline for transfer of my Yahoo group: about 5,000 messages and 267 members as of 10/24 0945 ET:
?
Tue 10/22 0900 ET
Purchased Premium Plan, requested a transfer from Yahoo Groups, and invited [email protected]
?
Tue 10/22 1844 ET
Received email from groups.io to make [email protected] a YG moderator, did so and gave the transfer go ahead
?
Thu 10/24 0945 ET
Your group is awaiting import into Groups.io. There are about 198 groups ahead of it in the queue. [Step 3 of 4]

Re: Can not get transfer request to show up in the "In Process" list

I read those instructions again and I am stuck at step step 10 and 11.
I am the member that requested a transfer. There the possibility that someone else requested a transfer as well but very unlikely and no way they requested it to the groups name I listed because I am the only member of that group.
I do not have the "We've received the invite to your group and will accept it soon. There is no need to send another invite."
but when I go back to the yahoo group like the instructions say to do and repeat the invite I get this:

On a related note, the instructions say: Send a membership invitation to "[email protected].", with a period within the quotes but I assume I do not use the last period and it should say this: "[email protected]".

Re: NEW transfer status information

I've been very impressed with how responsive Groups.io has been in handling?the many of us migrating from Yahoo. I'm very appreciative of all the support on this list. It is a breath of fresh air after years of YG silence.

I'm curious, though, about the queue positions. Last night my group's position was about 166, but this morning it is about 195 (step 3 of 4). If our group gets transferred in a week or so, that's ok. But if we keep getting pushed further down because others are able to pay an extra $200 to cut the line, that will be frustrating.

I wish he included a queue counter on each step. I waited 3 years to transfer my group, I know my fault, but have been in step 1 of 4 I believe over 24 hours. Not sure if that is going to take 2 weeks or maybe even never because of people paying the additional $200 to cut the line.

I guess in case we never come out of the queue we'll try to download everything to PG Offline. But Yahoo is being Yahoo, spotty service up the wazoo. Which I'm sure is affecting Mark's ability to capture all the data. Sigh...

Does Yahoo realize how much it's tarnished its brand with this act?

Re: Yahoogroups- no management link, no way to access member list #yahoo

You should use a desktop. Then you log in as a moderator and you will be able to do everything needed to move your group out of Yahoo.

I am accessing my yahoo group via my android smartphone. I cannot see any link for management and can find no link to member list in order to make [email protected] a moderator. I can change the description, invite new members, etc, but I am at a loss. I have had this group for 18 years, and have never had this problem before.?

I have consulted Yahoo help, both with regard to moderator access and wrt the new groups shutdown situation, but neither of these addressed the problem. Without access to my member list, I can't even invite my members on the form.

Does anybody know whether Yahoo has restricted access? Also, I cannot access the footer of any YahooGroups page because of a nag screen that has no way to dismiss it, reminding about the changes. So I can't click "full desktop site," assuming such a link exists.?

No, that's part of the boiler plate that can't be changed.? If you pay for an Enterprise group, you should be able to.? It allows "Fully customizable home page".

Hi, B?rbel,

?

Sorry to say that Pixabay is also not necessarily safe.? I have heard artists say that they found their images shared there unlawfully by others.

?

I suppose that in this case pixabay has the problem. My husband and I have a blog and use predominantly pixabay fotos there. We always make sure to sign the foto ¡°permission by pixabay¡±, which is what they are asking for.

Edited

Only the person that initiated the transfer will see it in the list.? If it wasn't you, find out who did and ask them to check the status.? If it was you, make sure you're signed int o Groups.io with the same email address you used to start the process.? Carefully double check the steps at /g/GroupManagersForum/message/19673

Can not get transfer request to show up in the "In Process" list

I am one of the many trying to get a group moved from yahoogroups to groups.io

I go into the easy group transfer, then yahoo group instructions, but there is nothing in the Existing Transfers even though I have requested it?

Yahoogroup, leopardcat@...

Groups.io that I setup to transfer to [email protected]

I have seen the [email protected] in the yahoo group and that has been changed to moderator.

I have seen the email saying [email protected] has been approved.

?

?

I have read the Wiki page, and the one step that looks messed up is I have not seen the email directing me to make the [email protected] a member but I did see that member in yahoo so as I said above, we changed it to moderator, I have tried looking in spam, etc. but do not see it?

?

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong or how to get the transfer started?

?

Darci

I did this two days ago and still have not gotten any reply from GIO. worried they did not ge5 my invitation to my Y!G.?

Re: [email protected] isn't a member of my Yahoo group

I joined on 21st, the group was approved, sent the invite the same day and received my transfer letter on the 22nd.

Clearly not. It is worth noting that Mark is one of "the powers-that-be".

He has in the past received complaints from copyright holders about some groups using copyright images without permission and his action is (IIRC) swift and decisive.
