How to upgrade to premium #howto #upgrade

I just figured out how to upgrade to premium so no need to respond to that.? However, I would still like to know about alternative payment methods.

And, one more thing, how do I obtain the 50% nonprofit discount?

Thanks, Jane

For the sake of argument, I'm going to assume you mean you are inviting it, not sending an email to it.

The following email addresses had errors:

This is the error message you get if you try to invite it to your groups.io group. You're supposed to log into Yahoo and invite it to your Yahoo Group.?

Does that mean some portion of a larger picture than 200x200 pixels will be selected for the Icon? Or does that mean a larger picture will be ¡®resized¡¯ to 200x200 pixels?

Hi Don,

Below the Choose File button it says - coloring is me.? ;)

Upload a file containing the icon. It will be scaled to fit within 200 x 200 pixels.

It means it will be resized so the longest dimension is 200 pixels.

On the site instructions, it says Send an invite from your Yahoo Group to [email protected]
On the detailed instructions, /g/GroupManagersForum/message/19673, it says Go to your YAHOO GROUP (not your groups.io group) and log in. Send a membership invitation to "[email protected]."
In the Wiki here, it says Be sure to invite [email protected] to your YAHOO group.

All seem pretty clear to me.

Re: In Yahoo Groups, When does the archives stop? A few are saying Oct 28

Yes this is a question I hope we can get a quick answer as its only a few days away to that. Some say that includes messages some say only files etc. .

It's difficult to tell from the announcement.? It says you can't upload anything after Oct 28 and that the archives will go on Dec 14.? Since saving messages in the archive is a type of upload, it could go either way.? As you say, why wait until the last minute and miss a deadline.

I was inviting from what I now understand (thanks, Duane) to be the
wrong group, namely the NEW groups.io one.

I completely missed that it should be the existing y'hoo group that I
wanted moved. As logical as that is ...

In that case, if it's not mentioned on the report, I'd definitely contact support.? For things that are mentioned, you just do another transfer of only that part of the group.

The groups shown there are constantly reordered based on activity, so make sure you're scrolling all the way down and looking at each one.? Any groups that you're subscribed to with the account that's logged in will show there.? There are some delays in information updates right now with all the transfers that are taking place.

Fair point... but while accepting that it would be wrong to report the problem until after the "Completed" email has turned up, if the transfer is still missing chunks of material I think a report would be in order; after all people will have paid for a "complete" transfer (within the limitation of any Yahoo anomalies) so the question would arise "just how long do I have to leave it before I can report this?"

Yes.
-I don't want to pay a fee, so is there a way to create my own group here and get my members to join and still have the Basic Plan?? I don't want photos, files or conversations to be transferred over.? Just members.? How, do I do that?
8. What are my alternatives to paying for the Premium Yearly plan?
?
Moving members:
?
You can Upgrade your group to the Premium for one Month only ($10 USD) in order to upload a list of members (Direct Add). However everything else would need to be copied manually.

On the Basic plan (free) you can upload a list of members to the Invite page. Similar to a Yahoo Group, it sends an invitation to each email address and the invitee must receive and respond to the invitation before they are added to the Members list.
To obtain a list of your Yahoo Group members you can go to the Manage Members page and in the Actions menu Export (download) a csv or tsv format file. It is best to open the file in a spreadsheet like Excel, then you can easily copy the Email column to paste into the Direct Add or Invite page. Note: this is only for groups with 1000 or fewer members, due to Yahoo's Export restriction.
?
?Send a message to your YahooGroups members on YahooGroups inviting them to join your new home. Include the URL. Or tell them to send a blank email to the Subscribe email address found at the bottom of your group's home page (that is, [GROUPNAME][email protected] ?substituting the real group name for GROUPNAME).

I realize most people want everything transferred but I have so many photos with full year folders since 2007, conversations, too.? Way too many and the groups isn't that active, so just want my members.
AND:
?
11. How do I stop people posting on Yahoo Groups after the transfer?
?
Assuming you have already sent the group a notice of intent to transfer, you only need follow up with those who didn't get the message. The easiest way is to put the entire group on moderation. Or in the YahooGroup management settings, you can set it so that nobody can post to the group.
?
This applies whether or not you are transferring. Let people know what is happening. Give them the new email address for posting. Put everyone on moderation to stop people posting in YahooGroups. And I suggested to Apple users to get rid of the Yahoo email address in Window, Previous Recipients in Mail.

members.

I detailed everything here:?

A lot of html code is invalid on the site.? Mostly to prevent things from being added which could contain nasty surprises.

Mark has asked that we only report bugs for now.? Asking about things like this would only create a bigger work load, possibly slowing down actual transfers.? If the Complete email hasn't been received, it would be a wasted effort anyway.
