Is there a way to receive donations for our group via group.io #featurerequest

Laura aka Rainee Dae

I am on a committee n the process of investigating transferring a couple of nonprofit groups over to groups.io from Y!G.? I'm doing prelim set-up and testing but am not super tech-savvy.? Before I set up a groups.io account, I thought I read somewhere in the list of available premium membership features, that there was a way to make or receive donations.? At least that's what I thought it was saying, however now that I have an account I can't find that particular list of features.? ?It's not a feature that Y!G has - or at least not in the free version that we've been using, but I thought that would be a definite plus for upgrading to premium.? Please advise.? Thank you.

At present, a paid transfer seems to be the only option to do that.? If the groups are related, you could consider making a parent group, then subgroups for the others.? (You could actually do this with totally unrelated groups, but it could be very confusing.)? You could transfer the parent group from one YG!, then transfer the other YG!s into subgroups under the same paid plan.??? The charge is for each parent group and isn't applied to any subgroups.? There are many things to consider when using subgroups.

As has been mentioned before, you could use one of the available methods to download the messages yourself, then create a PDF from that to load into the Files area.? Not a great option, but costs nothing.? The biggest concern would be how much space the file(s) would take toward the storage limit.

Mick -- As was clearly stated, you have to select the completed transfer from the "Existing Transfers" menu. There is no way for to know which transfer to delete if you don't select one.

Each owner has to select which of those type messages they wish to receive, or another owner can select for them.? For yourself, go to the Subscription page and scroll down to Notifications to make the selection.? Be sure to click Save at the bottom of the page after making changes.? For another owner, the changes are made in their membership record.

You've assumed incorrectly.? What it says on the Home Page appears to be correct according to what you said earlier.? The slashed icon doesn't mean it can't be done, it's just the icon that was chosen.

Re: $110 transfer question about attachments.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Assuming you want to transfer over from YG, everything you had there except attachments. The success of the transfer depends on how stable YG is, and right now it seems Y is unstable at times. I transferred my group January 2018, and I had my new group up and running in about three days.

Re: $110 transfer question about attachments.

Attachments don't get transferred.

Groups.io can transfer message archives (without attachments, however), photos, files, links and databases. Calendar entries are not copied at this time. Subscribers (members) are also transferred, maintaining ownership of each message and other group content.

Subgroups - no dashboard that I know of. You can see a feed of latest posts by going to Your Groups, Manage My Subscriptions.

It's not the users I care about in as much that moving them across is comparatively trivial. It's the message archives that are my main concern.

Re: $110 transfer question about attachments.

Stinson Webmaster

I saw this in the FAQ, but it didn¡¯t really answer my concern.?

4. What gets transferred using the Transfer Agent?

Your messages and most other accessible YahooGroup content are transferred to your Groups.io group.?

$110 transfer question about attachments.

I¡¯m cool with the 110 cost to transfer and the yearly cost, but I have one question about the paid transition.

Will the ATTACHMENTs to each post come over during the transfer? I¡¯m asking because if a member goes to an older post, and expects to see an attachment mentioned in the post, it would be bad for that to be missing.

Also with SubGroups, is there a way to make both the main and sub visible from a dashboard?

Thanks for what you do!

Re: Question About Administrative Messages to Owners

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi,

Typically co-owners should be listed as ¡°owner¡±, and for each member, they must be given permission to get these messages (typically a series of checkboxes are present for each owner account that specifies sending messages like this to them).

Cheers,

Joseph

Success. I found a photo with an already relatively narrow subject and then cropped it to be as short vertically and wide horizontally as possible. When I made it my cover photo it worked out perfectly as a banner:? /g/EvanstonPFWatch. Of course, that's not to say that a photo I may want to use in the future will be likewise workable.

?

Many thanks.

Re: Question about accepting invitations #invitation

Hi again,

The Help says:

Welcome
?
Sent automatically to members who join an unrestricted group, or whose membership in a restricted group has been approved. A Welcome notice is always sent to new members. If the group has not created and activated a custom notice, we activate and send a default.

Go to Admin, Settings, Member Notices tab.

Question about accepting invitations #invitation

Hey all. I was wondering if I had to send the welcome message after someone accepts an invitation to join my group or is it done automatically?
Thanks.

To avoid the fee, you can create a new io group and do the "transfer" yourself,
inviting members to join or else just sending a message with instructions on how to join.
