Database, show when table was created

I created a new table in the Database section of my group. The only date shown next to the title refers to the last update of the table. Is there a way to show automatically the creation date?

Thank you,
Marina

Allow Non Subscribers to Post

Chris Vaughan

Hi
I have a group for a committee that is members only and I have set "Allow Non Subscribers to Post " to yes, so that external people can post but their emails are moderated.
Then if the email the external persons sends I can approve it.
All works fine up to this point.

The issue I am having is that the email that goes to the group from the external user has no indication that they are not a group member. Also Reply to Sender does not seem to work.
Reply to Group does just what is says and leaves out the external person (correctly I think).

This means I have a edit each message coming in to highlight it is from an external person and to remind the group that a reply will go to just the group and special action is required to reply to the sender.

Is there any way to help with this? Any help gratefully received.

Re: RSVP [and the need to log in]

Hi folks,

I have used the RSVP feature for roughly four events a month since November and my subscribers still get confused about being logged on.

What I think would help the most is that if they're not logged on and they click on "Click here to RSVP" in an email, that there be some kind of message that says, "You need to log on."? Then, just as importantly, once they've logged on, that they be returned to the RSVP page.? Right now they're not returned there, and they actually have to go all the way back to the email and click again on the link.? A bit convoluted... and not surprising that I've lost folks along the way.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?? Thanks!
Amy

Re: What are Subgroup Categories? #subgroups

Thanks Bruce, I've found the appended category name on the subgroups. I poked around to see if the category was available for sorting, etc. and couldn't find it being used for anything. ?

Our group uses subgroups for the newsletter, board, committees and classes & retreats. ?Once the classes & retreats pass I lock them but now we have so many subgroups it's confusing. ?I guess I'll just try and capture the data and delete them.

When you assign a category to a subgroup, the category name is appended [in square brackets like this] to that subgroup's name in the display of Subgroups. Other than adding this label, it doesn't seem to do anything, that I've been able to determine; but I don't have a lot of subgroups and my experience with it is limited by that.

I'm not giving you much to go on. If you can report back on any findings, I think we would all appreciate it.

Re: Drafts?

psb b,

Well, that is highly inconvenient because I am constantly being unsubscribed!!!

Firstly, if you mean removed because of a spam report you should solve that problem.

If you are resuming your subscription by way of the email notice sent to you then I'd say that your drafts should not be discarded in that case (as opposed to a member who deliberately unsubscribes or is removed from the group). You could make that a suggestion on beta.

Muting will inhibit delivery of subsequent messages in that topic...but only as sent via email. It has no effect on the visibility of messages while viewing online.

Such a feature has often been requested. And before you ask, you can only mute topics, not subscribers.? :-)

Hi

In the footer of individual messages, there is a link - mute this topic.?

See this wiki topic.?

  • To manage,?go to Your Groups, Manage My Subscriptions on to see, delete topics or hashtags you are following. See link for more info.

Ah, the plot thickens...

Drafts are group-specific. If you're unsubscribed -- intentionally or via the "removed for spam" mechanism or whatever -- it makes sense that any pending drafts would be deleted.

Also, any way to find it again somewhere???
Not that I'm aware of.

Re: How do I allow direct subscription to a subgroup without requiring membership in parent group? #subgroups #subscription

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Someone else may have already said this.?? All subgroup members have to be a member of the main or parent group.? You cannot join into a subgroup unless you are a member of the parent group.

I have a "main group" that is a parent of "subgroup1".

I had someone try to subscribe to subgroup1 and they got a message they have to join main first.

How do I configure so direct subscriptions are allowed to subgroup1?

Re: Adjusting sidebar

No, but there is an easy way to let them see it.? Under Admin > Settings, scroll way down toward the bottom and you can select a Wiki page to make sticky so that it shows at the top of the Messages pages.? Since it takes some space, some folks just make it a pointer to the Wiki Home page.? You also have the option of asking on the beta group, the official suggestion box for the site, for the ability to rearrange the left menu.

While you can eliminate a few of the sidebar menu options via group settings, there is currently no provision to sort/rearrange them.?

I agree this would be a handy thing to have.

Thanks,

I missed this on the help page:

? ?Once a person is a member of the parent group, they can subscribe directly to the subgroup if it's permitted, they can be added directly to the subgroup, or they can ask to join the subgroup if it is restricted.

Is it possible to adjust the left hand sidebar so members see the Wiki as one of the first options?

Re: How do I allow direct subscription to a subgroup without requiring membership in parent group? #subgroups #subscription

daniel,

?
How do I configure so direct subscriptions are allowed to subgroup1?
?
Marcio is correct: You don't.
?
It is a fundamental aspect of subgroups that only members of the primary group can be a member of a subgroup.
?
To decouple the membership you would have to create a separate group. As far as I know there is no way to convert a subgroup to a separate group, or to transfer members/contents between groups (subgroup, primary, or separate).

Daniel,
How do I configure so direct subscriptions are allowed to subgroup1?
If I got it right, you are wanting to give someone the hability of subscribing to a subgroup without being subscribed to the main group.
If it is indeed what you're wanting, that's not possible as far as I know. A member only can subscribe to subgroups if this member is already member of the main group.
