Re: How to export calendar events
Cherry -- I don't think it can currently be done.?
The only "export" of the calendar I have seen is an ICS file. Open your calendar and click the "Subscribe to Calendar" button. In the resulting dialog box, click the little blue clipboard button, then paste your clipboard contents into the address field of a new browser tab. A feed.ics file will download containing your events in a fairly human-readable format. I don't know of any convenient way to import that to Excel, however. I have also tried to download my calendar events using the group export function found at Admin>Settings>Export Group Data. Although I know my calendar actually does contain events, the resulting zip file was empty. This strikes me as a bug and I will report it to support. Regards, Bruce P.S. Note that I have merged your three recent posts into this one topic. Please avoid opening several threads to ask the same question. -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |
Re: Unmoderating a bunch of members when list is set for no moderation
I guess I don't fully understand the situation. What is your Spam Control setting?
If you have already vetted the people joining your group by some other means and don't want to moderate anybody at all, then your group should be Restricted; new members will have to either apply for membership or be invited by you. Otherwise, you will have to do some message moderation, at least the first message or two. It is not possible to allow people to join your group and immediately post messages without moderation. That would just be asking for trouble. Anyway, to answer the question:? Open your members list (Admin>Members). Tick the checkboxes next to the members you wish to unmoderate. Scroll to the bottom and select "Change Moderation" from the Actions menu. In the resulting dialog box, select the "Override: not moderated" radio button, then click the blue Change button. Having done so, those members should now display a "P" (Can Post) badge in the member list. I do recommend that you revisit your Spam Control setting before doing something like this. Hope this helps, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |
Unmoderating a bunch of members when list is set for no moderation
Bill and Marie Johnson
The question is, how do I? I see in the table there is a checkbox which I am uncertain what it means. Further along there is an Uncheck all check. / I have the list set for no post moderation. As I look along the members certain ones
will say New Moderated. I have set some to Use Group settings, but I want to unmoderate a series of them. Help please? Thanks-- Please join me at [email protected] [email protected] Bill R Johnson |

Re: FILE STORAGE
If you have a free group:
Go to Admin from the left menu, then click Upgrade.? The resulting page will tell you how much storage is used for various things. On a paid group: Go to Admin from the left menu, then click Billing for the same results. Re: Downloading the membership list
Gerald Boutin
Bill,
If you paste itnto Excel, it cannot know that it was a csv file to begin with and doesn't do it's thing on the info. If you save it as a csv file and then use Explorer to open the file with Excel, all should go as expected automagically. On the other hand, going back to what you already have pasted into Excel, you can force the Excel parsing function. Select all of the rows and do the following: Data tab,? Text to Columns, Delimited, Next, Check "Comma", Finish -- Gerald |

Re: Downloading the membership list
I can get to the stage where I have generated the CSV file and have the CSV file pasted into a blank worksheet in Excel, but Excel is not recognizing the comma to put each value in a separate cell.? With several hundred members, surely it isn't necessary to manually separate each one.? I am trying to get a membership list that I can sort by name of individual (last name would be nice) rather than alphabetically by email address.
I do not know if this problem is due to having some setting wrong in groups.io, or my inexperience with Excel, or a combination thereof. I am generating the CSV file from the member tab under the administrative menu.? Should I be generating the membership list (by owner or moderator) from the main group directory? Thanks, Bill |

Or maybe some member's email service is adding that because their algorithms think the group message is an advertisement (similar to the SPAM tag I've seen some email interfaces use), and that gets carried back to the group in the member's reply. If the group member happens to be using a mail classifier such as PopFile, or any of a number of other utilities in that vein, that alter the Subject to indicate classification this will occur.? I've had to tell several members on a couple of groups how to change their classifier software/filtering assignment software to NOT use the subject line, as it breaks topic threading in Groups.io (and lots of other places, too).? Virtually all of them are able to put information into the message header, not visible to the world at large and that does not change the Subject, to indicate classification. And, if you believe you received it but may have emptied your Spam and/or Trash folders before you responded.? You can always log in to the Groups.io web interface and approve someone under the Admin, Pending function.
If you happen to be dealing with a large number of pending members that's often easier since you can check a series of checkboxes (the members pending) and approve all of them with a single click of a button. -- Brian?-?Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763?? ? ? ?Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?~ George Santayana |
Re: File Upload Privileges
What Shal said gives everyone permission to upload files, if that's what you are wanting.
If you only want certain people to upload files, you can have it set where moderators only can upload files and then make those few people moderators, but don't check any of the moderator permissions for them. Then they can upload files but not do any of the other things. You can also put them as moderator temporarily, then change it back if you don't want them uploading later. (If you want ALL members to be able to upload, this is irrelevant.) [If I didn't explain it well, Shal, please straighten it out for me.] ~Sandy |
Re: Merge messages to account
#howto
It would handy to have a more comprehensive solution that could address all orphaned group content, not just the messages. How to accomplish any of this without the potential for abuse (especially in light of GDPR and a litany of other 'net content-ownership/privacy regulations) is unclear to me.
