Has anyone?experienced this?? A few (not all) pix that I placed on a wiki page months ago are gone --? and I'm left with the dreaded broken image icon in page display mode and a sized correctly blank photo spade holder in edit mode.?
Where did they go? Are pix added to a wiki page stored in some wiki space, or in the photos folders? Or....? Can one paste in an image? or must it be added thru the diag box? I noticed that the browse box to locate a local image can also accept a URL to a pic --- is that referenced in each viewing, or is that uploaded to IO and saved (again, where)? Has anyone experienced this broken/missing pix issue? Thanks?in advance (as my good buddy Steve S, owner of "Writing at Work" laments in his classes, "Why, too busy to thank someone when s/he helps you?" (-; Ken |

Re: Integration with Google Calendar
#calendar
Following my previous suggestion about subscribing to the combined calendar view I've done some testing and found that it does not appear to work properly.
I tried to sync to it using Outlook 2016.? Multiple errors were reported when processing the .ICS file and events from my subgroups were missing, although the events from all main groups I am subscribed to, including GMF, were shown. I've raised this with support (ticket 8862) and will report back with any updates I receive. Andy |

Re: Question Please About Storage.
Ilene,
The point that everyone is missing is graphic type groups, notI don't think that everyone has missed that point. If Mark decides that such groups represent a good fit for Groups.io I don't see any technical barrier to implementing "no archive" choices for the group's Visibility option. ... or members that have gone on special notice.I'm not sure how that figures into any of this. See attachmentI'm not sure if that confirms or conflicts with your statement. I see two attached copies of the same image, one of which saves with the (apparently) intended name and the other of which with 0.png. I see the same in both email (Thunderbird) and in Messages. I probably shouldn't have approved your message. 1) I didn't realize the image files were huge (7.4 MB each), and 2) Don't use GMF for test messages. Reading yours below closely, it may be that you missed a step.
After doing a Select

Re: Subscription format change
Dan,
Which should I print in my handout, and will both still work?Either will work. I wasn't actually certain that [email protected] would still work, but I tested it and it does. The original posting address ([email protected]) is automatically redirected to the new format, but I wasn't certain about all of the email commands (like +subscribe). I think it would be best to use the new format in your handout. My reason is that the new (subdomain) format is how they'll see the group email addresses written on the group's web site (specifically the home page), and in messages they receive in email. So it would probably be less confusing for them if you use it consistently from the get-go. Note that "main" is something you can change, if there's another name for the primary group that would make more sense. For example, in my PTA group I changed the primary group to "members" because the primary group is open to all PTA unit members; whereas the subgroups are things like board, teachers, administration, and some ad-hoc ones for various volunteer efforts. As a mnemonic, sending a message to [email protected] provides the reminder that such messages are delivered to all of the (participating) unit members. Re: Is there any way that a group member can hide their email address but not their name when posting?
Michael,
Actually I think the label "Anonymous" doesn't reflect anything to doYou asked that their email address not be transmitted to other members with their post. That's the one common factor in all the various ideas discussed as "anonymous" groups. And absolutely the moderator must have knowledge of who sent eachThat's one of the factors discussed. The minimum proposal would affect only the outbound individual messages, leaving the email address shown in the Pending list, in the View Source, and of course in the Members list. This sounds like exactly what you're asking for. At the other extreme would be what the Yahoo Groups feature does: hides the email address from everyone, including mods and owners, by email and by web. Members who choose that option (in groups that allow it) are known only by their Yahoo ID. The only thing I am asking for is that if a member sets up aNote that the member's Display Name is a weak identifier: you might have a group with forty people named "Joe". One solution to that would be using the User Name field from the member's Account Profile. Each user chooses their own User Name, but they are required to be unique site-wide. That's one of the downsides of this idea: the user would have the same identifier in every group subscription. At the moment the User Name field has no purpose, but some future features might make use of it. The ONLY thing I am trying to do is prevent a member from directlyThere's also the Directory, but I think it would be fair to interpret making one's profile accessible to other members as permission for members to contact you directly. And there is the Private reply function, that allows any member to directly contact a member who has posted. As group admin (owner / moderator) you can turn that off by checking the "Remove Other Reply Options" box in the Message Policies section of your group's Settings. From reading tons of stuff on the subject referred to as "Anonymous"I only suggest mentioning it because that's the unifying search term. Your concern can be mitigated by saying something like "this proposal does NOT make members fully anonymous" at least once in the topic. That would both clarify your position and provide a hit for searches. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Is there any way that a group member can hide their email address but not their name when posting?
Actually I think the label "Anonymous" doesn't reflect anything to do with what I am asking for.? The idea of someone (anyone) anonymously posting anything at all to our group seems like a real bad idea.? And absolutely the moderator must have knowledge of who sent each message, and that includes the email address at least via the directory (which only the moderator has access to in my group), and the moderator must have ability to directly email anyone in the group.? The only thing I am asking for is that if a member sets up a subscription option to hide their FROM email address (BUT NOT THEIR NAME) to an email posted message.? One of the ideas suggested (by someone I don't recall who) for this would be to simply substitute [email protected]?for the FROM email address.? The ONLY thing I am trying to do is prevent a member from directly emailing another member without their permission, and the only easy way for them to do that is via the FROM address on an email posted message. We already have this "custom" set up as a rule in our group, but our rule is easily defeated by a bad actor in the group because the FROM email address thing.? ? From reading tons of stuff on the subject referred to as "Anonymous" it is abundantly clear that the term means many different things to many different people...so I don't think I want to refer to my request as anything to do with the term. Re: Groups.io User Manual in the works
I've often thought about making a user manual for my group, as one day I will hand it over to a new owner to carry on. Our group first started on Y back in 2000, and I 'inherited' it in 2009 without really knowing how to run a group. What I've learned has been more trial by fire, and what ever I could glean from help files, but a comprehensive user manual would have helped immensely.

Subscription format change
This has probably been covered elsewhere, but i have a presentation to a board of directors coming up on 21 April, and I need to print a handout soon.
Last time I checked my site today I sat that the subscription request address has changed from [using GN for groupname here]: GN [email protected] ? to [email protected] Which should I print in my handout, and will both still work?? Link to a previous post about the change, please?? I don't want to pass out and invalid way to subscribe and loook like an idiot! Thanks, Dan Prall |

Groups.io User Manual in the works
Mark has put out the call for any material we (users) have put together to help our members use Groups.io
Naturally GMF's messages and wiki have been mentioned, but I know many GMF members have written things in their own group wikis, files, and otherwise. Anything you'd be willing to share with his technical writer would likely be welcome. Re: Adding Links To Posts
19 & 41, I am unable to paste a link to a post I am writing. If you are working from the group's web pages, use the Insert/edit link button in the formatting toolbar at the top of the message composition window. See also GMF's wiki page on message composition. I am a group owner and I can find no setting that apparently governs this. ? There are two options which would remove this button (and most others) from the toolbar. One is if your group has checked the
Plain Text Only
box in the Message Formatting section of your Settings page. The other is if you have selected an option other than HTML as your Editor Preference on the Preferences page of your account.
