Re: Problems editing Wiki or Messages on Mobil Devices
I'm not sure there's actually a distinction between PC or mobile in Groups.io's rendering - I think it is all based on screen size.Negative. I've addressed this B4 to Beta and it's fallen on deaf ears.? Along w/ other serious issues on a "device." Look at it on a tablet. -k |

Michael,
There is a thing called Group Announcement in setting and you set itDo you mean Announcement Group? That's a group where only moderators are allowed to post messages. Just as it says on the Settings page. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Subgroups and email addresses question
#subgroups
Su,
So it is recommended to tell members of the change in the addressI would, just so that they don't worry that something has gone wrong or that the group has been "hacked" (that seems to be a popular catch-all worry these days). Also, is there a reason the lists aren't configured this way to beginPartially it is history - subgroups weren't in the initial rollout of Groups.io. A lot of water under the beta bridge, just about three years ago. Also I think the idea is that the default case (no subgroups) should have a "normal" list address, like other list services (list name to the left of the @ sign, hosting service to the right). I think at one point I suggested in beta that the subdomain form be accepted from the start, to prime the pumps as it were. I don't find that post at the moment. But that didn't go as far as your suggestion, which is to make it the address from the start. I can hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from group owners who don't intend to ever have a subgroup. But if existing groups are grandfathered as-is and all new groups start off with subdomain addressing that might not be such a bad thing. Over time it becomes the new normal (at least for groups on Groups.io). Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Problems editing Wiki or Messages on Mobil Devices
Ken,
Parts of the toolbar (VERY IMPORTANT PARTS) are not available onI'm not sure there's actually a distinction between PC or mobile in Groups.io's rendering - I think it is all based on screen size. For example, if on my PC I drag my browser window to be very narrow I get the same layout that I see on my smartphone. On the other hand I don't seem to be able to "zoom out" enough on my smartphone to see all the buttons. Perhaps if Su's bug report gets attention this will get better for mobile too. Re: Owner of two groups, also I'm new.
Donald,
This bring up a question, "Can you make the group premium for theNo. The transfer requires pre-payment of a year ($110), but you can let the group revert to Basic when the year is up. ?
Your screen clip - Are you on a PC or on a "device"?
?
Parts of the toolbar (VERY IMPORTANT PARTS) are not available on "devices."? If that's the case, put a request in over on BETA.
I have, multiple times re: "devices," but it's more critical to argue over semantics contained in a menu than make those improvements.

Re: Subgroups and email addresses question
#subgroups
Thank you for the explanation. So it is recommended to tell members of the change in the address or just let it happen "organically" as you explain?
Also, is there a reason the lists aren't configured this way to begin with so that there does not have to be a change if when you create sub-groups? Su |

Re: Owner of two groups, also I'm new.
Julie,
?
1. I will be hopefully transferring the groups from yahoo. I see that in Feb it changed so that you need to have a Premium account for that to work. Can I just have one premium account to transfer both my groups?? I don't think so.
?
?
However, if you import one as a subgroup of the other then yes, you only pay for the primary group.
?
For example, if you can arrange things so that officials and members is the primary group and officials (only) is the subgroup, then you may be able to make that work.?
This would be a little like my PTA group where the primary group is open to all unit members, but there are subgroups for just the unit board members, teachers, administration, volunteers, etc.
?
?
I don't know of any way to control that. Other than by good choices for the primary and subgroup names so that members are naturally guided to post in the correct group.
?
With a subgroup arrangement it would never be necessary to post in both groups, because the members of the subgroup are perforce members of the primary group.
?
They can create a new topic by email by avoiding use of their email Reply function (which I think is what you meant about using the group address in their email). But doing that on the web site will require them to log in. Fortunately, with Groups.io that's very simple.

Re: Reply To Sender
Michael,
?
I have the Remove Other Reply Options box NOT check.? And have it set to Group and Sender ?
The member can enable the Reply to Sender function by clicking the Private button, off to the right.
?
With Reply To set to Group and Sender there is no Reply to Group (only) function. And vice-versa.
?
Also, I only know about this topic because I get a digest where it is listed...but If I am on the website and click on Topics the Reply to Sender topic is not listed?? ?
Do you see other recent topics? If not, you may need to click the Date heading on the upper right to reverse the sort order of the list:

Re: Can I add a table to group Wiki pages?

Thank you. That works.
I have reported the bug and suggested that at least it should give a small message saying what to do to get the full toolbar. I will report back if I hear anything helpful / specific. Su |

Re: Reply To Sender
Michael,
?
BUt I don't see an option to REPLY TO GROUP OR SENDER. ?
You get that effect by not checking the Remove Other Reply Options box, just below the Reply To option.
?
Members replying by email can usually circumvent whatever choice you choose by directly altering the To address in their reply, of course. For them these choices set what's available by default, depending too on their choice of email interface.
