If the "non - working upload" is a free group then you have most likely run out of storage space; the limit for Files / Photos / Attachments is 1 GB. Messages and wiki pages don't count towards your total, unless the wiki pages have photos in them.

How do I fix it?
If you click on "Upgrade" on the left hand side of the group web UI you will find information about the total storage space used. If it's "full" then you will have to have a clear - out, or pay to upgrade to a Premium or Enterprise group.

That could be a delayed reaction to an outage on 3/15. But I don't see how that could account for the surge on 3/8.

You haven't told us what the affected member's Email Delivery History has to say.

In my groups it started about Mar 8 and accelerated on Mar 12.

The Email Deliver History says, "554 delivery error: dd Sorry, your message to XXXXXX@... cannot be delivered. This mailbox is disabled (554.30). - mta4486.mail.gq1.yahoo.com"

Re: Database help please

Pamela,

i know the database can be sorted but it doesn't 'remain sorted' which
is a problem for us.
I agree. I've advocated in the past (on beta) that all list views should remember the sort order you most recently used. The database might be a more intricate case given that would need to be remembered on a per-table basis. Still, it doesn't seem that big an "ask".

Besides which sorting by month does not work as the sort is done in
alphabetical order.
Note that in Groups.io tables the column definitions have a "Type" option, you're not stuck with plain text fields as you were in YahooGroups. One of the types is Date; if you use that it should sort chronologically. Unless you have a reason to keep the dates stored by separate Year, Month, and Day fields.

We are a charity knitting, crocheting and sewing group supporting 3 or
4 different charities each month of the year, who give us a wish list
of what is needed by them. I have been using a database to record the
order of monthly projects for the past 14 years. It works for us!!
Ok, so using a Date column might be over-specific for your purposes. It may not be too confusing to have them all listed on the first of the month, but you'd also have to update the year each year, for recurring requests.

The way I used to get around this with Yahoo was to put the month
number in front of the name i.e. 1 January, 2 February etc.
I'd think you'd need to use 01 January, 02 February, ... to keep November and December from jumping ahead of February. But that's not important right now...

Nope, you've got the right place.

Poster has no Display Name and doesn't mention a name in his post. All I have is an email address. That's not much to search on in Message search.

Mark's looking at it on beta.

Hi Shal,

? ? Thank you so much for looking into this.

Would you want the system to automatically remove them on their expiration date, or do you prefer to handle that manually?

? ? Manually.

I'm not sure if it is relevant, but are you saying that this group is a subgroup of that other group, or just that there's a rule your moderators enforce about the memberships in the two groups?

? ? Two separate groups.? NAME is on yahoo and? MCC is on groups.io.? The NAME member roster has to be checked before we approve a new member to MCC.? And - removed if their dues aren't paid in a timely manner.? A timely manner can take up to 3 months!!

Aha! And that's where the Catch-22 begins!
As you've learned in beta, there is no catch-22.

For the benefit of GMF members who don't follow beta:

As a member you might wish that the Directory had a search function, but as a group owner/mod you can open their subscription page from the Members list.

At that point you have two easy options.

One is to click on their User Name and then click on "All Posts By This Member" in their profile page.

The other is to click on their "Activity History" tab; that lists their postings and other activity, the entries for each post link to the post.

Re: Two messages for the price of one?

Brian,

So what I'm seeing, as I look at it, is 1 post has my actual email
address, ie, BlahBlah@... ...
Ah yes, Gmail.

If she looks a bit closer I think she'll find that the copy of the message which has her real address is the copy she sent. That is, it did not go to Groups.io and back, and does not have the group's footer on it.

Conversely, the one which has a re-written address is the copy that came back from Groups.io. It will have the group tag in the subject and the group footer at the bottom. And may have been edited by a group moderator if she's moderated in that group.

I just looked a bit more, &, though I did not check the option to
receive my own posts, it appears to be on by default.
It is.

The effect of it is to rewrite the Message-ID field of the message sent back. This causes Gmail to think that it is a separate message from the one that was sent, with the result that it is shown in her Inbox conversation rather than hidden away in her Sent folder.

The re-writing of her From address is a separate feature, and happens regardless of any settings. Without that, Gmail warns that the message may be spoofed.

Well, the member interacts via e-mail exclusively and is a member of another groups.io group, but as a lurker.? ?Those two things being said, she was still trying to do her own diagnosis and appears to have figured out what was happening.? ?Here is what she said, with e-mail address partially redacted:

I just looked a bit more, &, though I did not check the option to?receive my own posts, it appears to be on by default. I've unchecked?it & it appears gmail does rewrite the from: line when it sends posts?back, so this may be what's occurring.?

I know I saw Mark talking about address rewriting recently on the beta group, and I don't know whether there may be an unintended result occurring here or not.

Re: All messages by a member

Is there a simple way to pull up all the messages by a member?
Yes.

1) Find one of their messages, then select "All Posts by This Member" from the More hamburger menu.
2) If you click on their name at the top of the message, it will open their profile. The profile contains the same link.
3) You can also access their profile via the Directory, or using the "View Profile" link at the top of their record in the Members List.
Aha! And that's where the Catch-22 begins! You can't find their messages until you've already *found* one of their messages, If it's a member who hasn't posted in a while, you're stuck. I think I'll take this to beta. Why couldn't we have that same option when we select a member in the member search? Or alternately, have the option under message search to search for sender, probably including email address?

This the group mods/owners can do, except that there's no filter for
time range - the export will have the group's entire message content.
Interesting. This can certainly work though our mbox archives will get
large since we do patch review on our mailing list.

drifting off-topic here (must be late). I start a new (to me) project
next week, which means a deep dive into a couple years' of collected
project notes in Confluence and Jira. Tools I've not used before. Oh fun!
Best of luck in your new project! I've used Jira and Confluence before
and have enjoyed using those tools. That being said, like any tool,
companies often find a way to misuse them to the detriment of the
users. Hope that's not the case for you. :)

Every time I send a reply to this list, 2 msgs are generated. I'd
troubleshoot this, but my husband was recently hospitalized w/a heart
attack & pneumonia, 2 hours after which we had a house fire, & I'm so
far behind on my website work that either everyone else has crossed
the finish line or I have a substantial lead, rather suspecting the
latter is not the case. The long & the short is, I just don't have the

possible. Thanks in advance.

Other than BCCing oneself when doing a private reply, I can't find any setting that would cause this to happen for a normal reply via e-mail.? Any ideas?
