Hi

I belong to CCRT(CCRT With Mama ([email protected])

And Mama Peach the owner and I have gone through my account and I am not bouncing and all the settings are correct.

I am not receiving anything from this group

Can someone help me understand why not?

My spam folder is always empty and my server is wide open as I already called and checked it out before I posted this.

Thanks.

Bruce; I had a quick look around and as far as I can see that option is definitely Owners only, so it may confuse those who are simply moderators.

Can you please confirm this? I will do some "deletion tests" later (as in tomorrow, with luck) as I finished up confusing myself last time. :(

Re: Canadian member?

Hi

Is it possible that your Canadian member has advanced subscription preferences so that she gets only the first message in any thread? If you check your members list, (Admin, Members) see whether she is marked as FF (turquoise).?
If she does, she can click to follow individual threads using the footers in the email.
Or she can change her subscription.

Anita -- The following was the behavior as of my testing a little over two weeks ago:?
  • If I deleted a photo via the Attachments link (under Billing/Upgrade), a notice was sent back to the OP.
  • If I deleted a photo directly from the Emailed Photos folder (i.e.: without opening and editing the message), no such notice was sent.
  • There was no way to delete a non-photo attachment without the OP getting a notice.
If others would like to follow up on this, I'd appreciate the sanity check.

Your mileage may vary, void where prohibited, objects in mirror may be closer than they appear.

Re: Customising the invite letter?

There's currently no way to remove the basic 'boilerplate' info.? There's nothing to keep you from translating it and including your own information though.? Multi-language options have been discussed on the beta group (official suggestion box for the site).? Mark has assured us that it will happen, but not when.? Top priority is always squishing bugs and the others at the moment are "ability for group owners to charge subscriptions, and an iOS/Android app".? Those two have been in the works for some time and are hopefully close to completion so that he can go on to other things.

Re: Groups.io sustainability

Marv,

I worry more about Groups.io's business plan than Mark getting run over by a bus.

The pricing model is often referred to as "". Yes, it is a thing. Not always successful, but then no business plan is foolproof.

But I will say that signing up for the paid premium service will help Groups.io stay around more than anything else its users can do. Treat the free service as a free trial, not a free lunch.

Yup.

That is of course the bet that a Freemium business is making: that the free level will attract a large community of users, and that enough of those users will convert to Premium to pay for it all.

So one key element is finding the right features at each pricing level. But of course that's true of any product family that has various models, including physical products that don't start with one that is free.

When asked by users about "donating to the cause" Mark has suggested using the Premium for one month plan as a convenient way to make a small contribution on your own schedule and budget.

Customising the invite letter?

OH6NT

Hello all.

Tried to find n answer to this: Why can't I customise the invitation letter fully?

Our group is in an overseas country, an hardly anyone speaks english, so most of the standard ivitation is obsolete to us. It would be nice to be able to write the invitation in full in our languages (Finnish and Swedish).

Best regards, Thomas

Re: Groups.io sustainability

I worry more about Groups.io's business plan than Mark getting run over by a bus. Groups.io seems to me to be extraordinarily non-exploitative as free services go. I observe that even one-man shops with a solid business plan can often get through disasters like the incapacitation of the principal, but flakey businesses never last. I don't pretend to understand Mark's plan, nor am I criticizing it, it's his business. But I will say that signing up for the paid premium service will help Groups.io stay around more than anything else its users can do. Treat the free service as a free trial, not a free lunch.
Best, Marv

Re: Groups.io sustainability

What happens if the earth blows up?
Remember the old homily, "He who hesitates is lost."
Putting that question on GMF doesn't get an answer, it's simply blowing in the wind because Mark doesn't follow this group.
I moved our group of almost 3500 with 160,000 messages over 3.5 years ago when there was far less functionality and it was still a hell of a lot better than waiting for Yahoo to sell out to Verizon while Ygroups would go silent for days at a time.
Ask your question from Support@... instead of where it cannot possibly get an answer.

Is there any way to delete photos in a message from attachments without it being sent to the person who wrote the letter?

I know I can go one by one in the photos email folder. That takes forever.

If I go to attachments I can edit it and delete a? bunch of them but then the person gets notified.

Thanks

Anita?

Short answer: No.?

Longer answer: At a minimum, each message sent via a mailing list must provide some means to unsubscribe from the list.

Really long answer:?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Footers?

Re: Groups.io sustainability

Although I can't seem to find it at the moment, Mark addressed this on the beta group some time ago.? He does have backup in place to keep the site running.? I doubt that there would be much, if any, additional development, at least for awhile.? And support would likely suffer in the short term.? The only one that actually knows the answers though is Mark.

You only have to do it once per person. I think it¡¯s a small price to pay for safety.

Perhaps you're only considering yourself while ignoring the reasons given to you for the need to screen out spammers.
