Re: Is there a problem with Outlook.com

Thank you Doug,
I was aware of the earlier problem.
It just seemed strange to me that the Pending Membership messages didn't get through but the actual group messages did once I approved her membership.

Just one of those mysteries I guess.
Cheers,
Pamela

What's Happened?

Edward Keech

I am an owner of a group. When I tried to send a couple of invitations, I was never presented with the admin options, just the options for a non-owner member. I cannot send invitations. Six or eight hours ago it worked fine.

Re: Some messages not coming through

Well, I feel silly, but after checking my spam folder again, there they were!

I still find it very strange that they just suddenly started getting filed in spam - and not all of them at that. But regardless, obviously not an issue with groups.io but on my personal email end.

Thanks for the response Frances,
Tiffany

Chris -- They are obviously stored somewhere, or you wouldn't be able to download them.

The associated URL is:

https://GROUPNAME.groups.io/g/SUBGROUPNAME/attachment/MESSAGENUMBER/ATTACHMENTNUMBER/FILENAME

or if you don't have subgroups,

/g/GROUPNAME/attachment/MESSAGENUMBER/ATTACHMENTNUMBER/FILENAME

It might interest folks to know that if you export a group, attachments are embedded as a mime part in each message in mbox format. There is NO separate folder exported -- even the Emailed Photos folder is handled in this way.

Hope something in there helps,
Bruce

Look at the link in the post they were attached to.

Here's a couple of url samples. The numbering system is

xxx: Message# (in that group)
y: File# in the message. eg) 0 for the first file, 1 for the second and so on

https://....groups.io/g/main/attachment/xxx/y/color_palettes_v3.dbf

Tiffany, why don't you check your own subscription settings. Be sure to click on Advanced Preferences.

And Email Delivery History. In Subscription.

Cheers,

Well that's a can of worms that I'm not going to open on beta; someone else can! As it happens the group I moderate has attachments disabled anyway. I might try uploading a "big" pdf (not here!) to see if it adds to any of the available totals simply out of curiosity; I can always delete it again.

Re: Interesting... or not?

Attachments DO take storage space, /static/pricing#what-is-counted-towards-the-storage-limits-for-my-group.? I've also never figured out exactly where they're stored, but know that they can be deleted by deleting them from the message.? Maybe there needs to be an "emailed files" folder, similar to the "emailed photos" folder?

Some messages not coming through

Hi there,
I am experiencing a new problem with out group. It seems that some messages are making it through to email, but others are not. I'm not yet certain if everyone is having this issue, or just me.
When I am logged into the group, I can see all the messages, but some of them never came got delivered to my email. I've checked, deleted, spam, etc. just in case, and they are nowhere. What's strange is that this was never an issue until this month it seems. I am also unsure if it is just certain members whose messages are not being delivered. So far, there are two different members I can see messages from on the group page, that never made it to my email.
Anyone got an ideas what could be causing this???

Thanks so much for any help,
Tiffany

Interesting... or not?

In doing some testing via shalstest I found that both pdf and Word documents could be sent as attachments; they appear as working clickable icons in the web UI and get sent out with the resulting email as attachments. (FWIW "attachments" do have to be enabled!)

However, I cannot find if they are "stored" anywhere - they certainly don't turn up among the "emailed photos" and they don't appear in Files either. Does anyone know where / how they are stored, and if they count towards a group's storage limit?

This isn't an "issue" but I am rather curious...

Chris

Re: Unmoderate Calendar event reminder emails?

I am experiencing frustration with this new setting, too and preferred it the old way, without moderation of calendar reminders.??

Thanks,
Amy

Re: Yahoo transfer #transfer

Re: Member chronic mail delivery failure

She uses Thunderbird email client.
Thunderbird usually generates "User-Agent:" header line. I don't see such header line in the header you quoted. Message-Id also appears empty.

Please tell her to enter the group's email addresses in the To field and your email address in the Cc field, and post (or email me Lena{}lena.kiev.ua) the header of the copy you receive entirely, unredacted.

Hello Scott,

Anytime a message is marked as spam, and is deleted the user is removed.? This happens whether they mark the message as spam, or the email client marks the message as spam.? Provided as you say, the almost immediately get a link to click on to be reinstated.? If they move the messages to their inbox and then delete if they want to will not cause them to be removed.

Doug

Greetings!

I have a member of my group that was removed for marking a message as spam.
Actually, I've had a couple of these, and understand they get an email to
resubscribe. I think the basic procedure is a great idea.

The issue in this case is the member uses Yahoo for his email (as do I; they
are my web host provider), and he said he did NOT mark it as spam, rather
Yahoo did so on its own.

I thought they would only be removed for MARKING a message spam, not when
Yahoo does so automatically.

Thoughts/comments?

Members will be removed when the spam folder is emptied with groups.io emails in it, regardless of how they got there.? If the member goes to the spam folder and marks them as 'not spam' regularly, it should eventually stop.

The email client (program) she uses generates non-standard messages and is not suitable for groups.io. Empty envelope-from is normal only for auto-replies, not human-typed messages. Ask her what she uses to send messages, likely it's some mobile app, possibly default for her uncommon smartphone, or an uncommon app. She needs to either configure it properly (which is most likely not trivial for a non-technical user) or use another app.

She uses Thunderbird email client. That's what I use and have no problem. ?
