Asking a question of new subscribers before approving
Hi, I'm happy that the Yahoo Easy transfer wizard is working. I transferred my group, and all went well.? When we were with Yahoo, we set things up that a new subscribe request required folks to answer a question before being approved.? Does Groups.io have such an option? I've been through the admin section, and haven't seen anything that looks like what I want.? Thanks in advance, John Myers |

Re: Would like to make a group.
As long as your group will meet the Terms of Service, /static/tos, especially the "Conditions of Use" section, there should be no problem having it here.? You can compare available features at /static/pricing.? If you're not sure, you can start with a Basic (free) group and upgrade later if needed.? You can also upgrade and downgrade as needed if you use the monthly plan.

Look at the email address it said it could not deliver to:greecianhoney@... That is not a valid email address.? Groups.io now disguises the sender's email addresses.? Removing the equal sign and putting in the ampersand and getting rid of groups.io would give you the reply to address that is needed (assuming it is not going back to the group but just to the sender).? I am not familiar with what Office365 and Outlook use.? Shal might jump in here and tell us but there is a return address and there is a reply to address and the two may not be the same.? At any rate,? what is causing your problem is that Outlook is using that disguised address as the reply to address and it is not a valid email address by design.? If the sender selects "reply to all" rather than reply what address does it use (the group? or the sender?)?? That would give you a clue. Good luck. Jim Pruitt [excess quote trimmed by moderator] ?

Transfer Process Tip
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIf you're transferring more than one group, especially if you have subgroups, make sure you start from the home page of the group you want to transfer before clicking on the Easy Transfer link at the bottom of the page. You cannot click that link and then select another group's name from the drop-down list to send orders for other groups. The orders won't take.Neither can you initiate a transfer, hit the back button, and then select a different group from the drop-down to initiate transfer. Otherwise, you will end up waiting days before you realize the transfer for those subsequent groups you selected from the drop-down did not actually initiate. You must go back and start at the beginning from the home page of the group you want to transfer to initiate each transfer. Always start at the group's home page to change anything within a group, even if you can see notices and selections for other groups. To confirm orders actually sent, and where they are in the transfer process, look at the Existing Transfers drop-down list to see each group's status. Hope this helps some of you not wait as long as I did to move into groups.io. ?

If this behavior is not configurable, she may have to switch to a different email client, or just get accustomed to typing in the group address manually. I looked all over my calendar and couldn't find a "cancel event" button anywhere. A search in beta turned up only this:??.?It seems that cancelling an event only notifies those who have RSVPed.?To actually remove an event, you have to delete it, and may have to provide separate notification via a post to the group.
Before posting to beta, I suggest checking with someone you know had previously RSVPed in the affirmative to see if they received the expected notification. If they did, what you're proposing is properly. If not, it's a bug that should be sent directly to support. Although I do have a Premium group, we do not use the RSVP function. Perhaps others here who do can provide better advice.? Hope this helps, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

A suggestion to that effect, as well as notifying everyone or adding a notice to the topic, on the beta group might be appropriate. Re: Choose 'no email' for main?
Frank,
Yes. A member of a subgroup has a Subscription page for the subgroup which is separate from the one for the primary group (and separate from any other subgroups). They can choose whatever Email Delivery option they prefer for each.
True. They would need to remain members of the primary group. But, they can set their primary group Subscription to No Email or Special Notices Only. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Choose 'no email' for main?
Can a member of a group decide they do not want any email from the main group but choose to get email from a subgroup? I wanted to use the "main" group as a discussion forum and a "announce" (receive-only) subgroup just for meeting announcements.? But some members may only want to get the announcements.? From what I can see, if they unsubscribe from the main list, they are out of the entire group. Thanks for any advice. Frank |
