Re: Map view option for database tables

Bruce,
The entire address has to be in one column?of type "address" (not text or paragraph or something like that). If you have it broken down into separate columns for address/city/state/zip it will not work.
Thanks - I have a working version now. I had the address fields in separate columns because that's how it was sepcified when I exported the other table. This means that you cannot just export table contents and load them back in elsewhere without doing some manipulation on any address fields first.

Dear Anonymous...

"Messages per Page" is a setting in your Groups.io Account, rather than a "per group" function. Go to your Account, then Preferences, then scroll down within the Web Site Preferences section to Items Per Page and set 20/50/100/Infinite as required from the drop - down list. Finally don't forget to click on Update Preferences at the bottom or the change will not take effect.

How can I modify the default 20 Messages per page
The iterms per page are shown in your account preferences.? Assuming you are on a desktop browser, click on your name in the top right corner of the Groups.io window, and select Account.? Then go to the Preferences using the menu options down the left side.

How can I modify the default 20 Messages per page to unlimited, so new messages can be seen by scrolling downward, instead of having to select a new page to read more messages?

Re: you have reached the limit

The invite limit in Yahoo Groups is 100 per day.

If I recall correctly, there was a similar restriction at Y!G.

Folks are making too much of this. Simply submit them all at once and wait. The delay involved is not prohibitive.?

Re: you have reached the limit

Andy,

Does anyone know if there's a limit to the number of entries in a single Direct Add execution?
Not that I know of.

If there is one I suspect it is arbitrarily large - relating to the amount of computer memory you have (the buffer used to hold the data for transfer to Groups.io's server).

I expect to have around 1000 to do shortly.
I wouldn't expect any problem with that. Or even 10 times that.

Re: you have reached the limit

I'm glad this is being brought up.? I just started a new group (and subgroups) for the NYJavaSIG (NY Java User Group) and plan to migrate our entire user community to groups.io from our legacy (and aging fast) email service.? ?I plan on directly add about 8500 email addresses.? ?Is it suggested to add a smaller initial group of 25 to get approval and then add the rest in one bulk submit (via a file attachment)?

Now click the blue Map View button at top. If you see the box in which the map should be displayed but it appears to be empty, try zooming out several times, or switch to satellite view. Default seems to be maximum zoom in roadmap view and you will sometimes end up with an empty box if there are no nearby roads.

Hope this helps,

Event waitlist management #events #waitlist #rsvp

Hi,

as the creator of an event with an RSVP I can see which users have responded by viewing the event and then using the View Responses button. I cannot see anyway of managing the waitlist though.? If someone responds to say they will attend the event and takes one of the available spaces and is then either unable or unwilling to update their RSVP to say they can no longer attend a place will not be freed up for the next person on the waitlist.

How can I manage the waitlist to overcome this?

Thanks,
Andy

Re: you have reached the limit

Hi Duane,

thanks. If I can do a batch of just over 20 to start with and then the remaining 1000 or so I should be able to test that and report back here.? I don't expect that to be until late Feb though.

The message thread on the beta group you pointed me at raises the point that paid plans (it mentioned Enterprise and I am on Premium) shouldn't really need to be moderated like this. If we're paying for a service to get extra features (such as Direct Add) then we should be able to use them without moderation.

No, not a typo.? When you invite or direct add more than 20 in a 24 hour period, the request gets put in a queue for moderation.? After it's approved, all of them go through at once.? Just add/invite everyone at once and there will only be one delay.? Details at .? One thing that isn't mentioned anyplace - some folks have said that future batches don't have the delay.? I can't verify that, but maybe someone else can.? If so, we can add that info to the Wiki here.? That would mean it works like the "unmoderate after 1 post" setting for members of a group.

Thank you for that, Chris. As you can see, I'm a beginner with forums and all their intricacies. Now all sorted.

That depends on what you have discovered! Go to Admin>Members>Banned. Click on the checkbox for the banned person at the left hand side of his listing. Click on Actions, then click on Unban.

Re: you have reached the limit

Hi Duane,
Yes, it's the same for both, about 20.
I'm hoping that was a typo and you meant 200!

That said, I have just over 1000 that I'll be looking to Direct Add.? Are you telling me that it will be into the sixth day before they have all received emails saying they have been added to the group??? I was expecting to be able to do this process overnight so everyone had the details on the same morning.

Andy

Re: Map view option for database tables

I still don't see the map view option after upgrading to a premium plan.? The database I created is the same as the one in the beta group and it works there.

Are there any additional settings I need?

Thanks
Andy

Yes, it's the same for both, about 20.? It usually doesn't take long for them to be approved and you can add them all at once to make sure it's a one shot thing.

Mark instituted a limit where you can invite limited number of address in a 24 hour period.

Re: Getting everything as Spam.

My doing a new invite did not work.
The = is still there.
I will send your Reply to the Subscriber.
I have a Yahoo address myself and the subscriber is not in my Contacts. At least I did not put it there.
But maybe it is there because I only have to type a couple of the first characters and all address with those first letters pop up for me to click on. I like that Yahoo feature!
There are many other aol and Yahoo address among my 700+subscribers.
None have complained.
Thanks for your info. I think that will solve the problem.
Richard

But if you go ahead and invite everyone, they'll all go through after it's approved.

In a word, no. I know the topic is slightly different but have a look at this (very recent) thread: /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/photo_albums/29114196?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate%2Fsticky,,,20,2,0,29114196 because the reasons "why not" are essentially the same.

The best solution is to start again and reorganise the original message and its attachment into something that can be posted into the Files section.
