I've re-written it.There is something else that struck me when I had a read of the GMF wiki referenced. There is mention of "Group Profile", and "Display Name" and this prompted me to investigate a bit further. IIRC (and it is if) Display Names used to be called Display Names and not Group Profiles, but I see that I now have a collection of Group Profiles, not Display Names. I cannot recall seeing any announcement about any such change but that doesn't mean that there wasn't one. Am I correct in thinking that this is a change, and that it is relatively recent? Now for most purposes the precise terminology is of little or no matter, but the group I moderate uses "Display Names" as part of an indentity check for members who wish to request specialist documents that we store elsewhere. The current instructions require members to enter their "Display Names" but if I am right about the change of title then we will have to change the instructions to avoid confusion. At the same time a look through the list of "Actions" in the Activity Log finds Changed Display Name, not Changed Group Profile. Perhaps it's as well that group members cannot see the Activity Log or the potential for confusion would be even greater... Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Chris |

Isn't the option to use your .. I call it my main addy ... instead of the gmail addy work for you? I ended up doing that. I write all my email under miz.elly@ but my "paid for" addy is ellen@ Once I added that and made it my main address, I had no more issues.

To avoid that warning Groups.io made a change to how the "From" field is written when sent back to you (but not to other members of the group). That's what you're seeing. I don't like it either. I was happy with my messages showing up in Gmail as From "me", now they're From someone named "Shal Farley via Groups.io". Gmail's intent is to ensure that you, as a recipient of a message, can tell when the message was sent directly from someone's email account versus when it was sent "via" some third-party service (a list) like Groups.io. Other people in the group use gmail without this issue. For now, you see other member's addresses without that change, and they see yours without it. And every Gmail user sees their own with it. Re: Missing incoming messages for two days?
It would depend on the group.? I have one with little activity at times, but spurts now and then.? Another usually has 'constant' activity, but has had spells of 3-4 days with none.
Have you looked in the Activity Log to see if there's any information that may show a possible cause? Duane -- Help: /static/help GMF's Wiki: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Search button at the top of Messages list A few site FAQs: /static/pricing#frequently-asked-questions |
Missing incoming messages for two days?
We typically have 10 or more messages per day, sometimes 30 or 40.
On Dec 7 we had exactly 7, 4 posted at the group and 3 emailed. We've had none since except from moderators. None of the Dec 7 posts showed up in the Digests. This is very unusual for our group especially since we just went through a Giving Tuesday fundraiser and people usually are very curious about how we made out. Select as many files as you want from the resulting File Explorer "Open" window. In Windows, you can do this by clicking and dragging with the mouse, or hold down the CTRL key while clicking on several files. Ctrl-A will also work to select all the files, but you have to click somewhere in the "Open" box first. I have no idea why. When you're done making your selections, click the Open button at the bottom. The files selected should now appear as thumbnails in the Upload dialog. Enter a description if you want and click the blue Add button to actually upload them. Having said that, there is no provision to upload an entire folder. You have to manually create the directory structure within groups.io first, at which point you can then upload a collection of files into each folder. I hope that made sense. ? Re: Cannot sign-in to my Groups.io Accounts
Jim, are they dups to the same email address? Or do you get the same message to two email addresses?
There is a way to prevent dups to the same email address - stop getting copies of your own sent messages. Go to Account on the right (under your name), click on Preferences, choose: Email Preferences. Untick I always want copies of my own emails. Email PreferencesMy Posts

Just curious about this. An account takeover by impersonation, is that a criminal offense? If you felt you could prove who did it, would you then be entitled to lodge a criminal complaint against them with police? Because of the potential for the impersonator to access personal financial accounts (via the email account), if it's not specifically illegal it should be. tommy0421 |

Adding Via Groups IO to my sender name
Hello
A few weeks ago I asked about why "Via Groups IO" was being added to my sender name and shows under from as "Loopy via Groups IO" when I send mail to my group.? Someone said it must have been my email provider that was doing that.? So I closed that email account (ZOHO) and opened a new account under GMAIL. It was all fine until about 4 or 5 days ago and once again this started being added to my sender name which leads me to believe it isn't my email account but something to do with groups io.? I've had another? gmail account that I have used for years without that problem. I hope someone can help because I don't like that being added.? Other people in the group use gmail without this issue.? Thank you in advance. Loopy |
