Go to Admin>Members. By default, subscribers will be displayed in inverse order by join date. Click any of the column headers to change sort order, and click on the next/previous buttons ( < > ) to page through.

You can also use the Search box at upper right. Enter part of the email address and click on the Search button. This is a substring search, so partial matches should work.

Is there a manual method of Migrating Messages from Yahoo Groups

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I just finished migrating our group to Groups.io and NOT A SINGLE message was migrated. This kind of defeats the point.? Is there a way to manually migrate messages over. Or is there a way to get to try again?

The same thing as happens with descriptive text added for individual photos within an album. Any "return" inserted by the originator is ignored and what started on a different line is added to the line above so that it is displayed as line of text until the management software decides that it needs to insert a return of its own because it has filled up the designated width available.

That doesn't read all that cleanly but I think the meaning is clear enough. I hope...

To clear bouncing status with groups.io, subscribers can click on a link in either a bounce probe, or in the banner that shows up when they log on. Be advised that this does nothing to resolve the underlying problem.

Bouncing can have many origins, including a full mailbox, mail servers that occasionally act up, or providers that throttle back on message delivery. There is a great deal of information on this in the system help at /static/help#bouncing....but in my experience sharing it with your subscribers will only confuse them further.

As for what's actually going on with your subscribers at the moment, open their member record[s], click the Email Delivery History button, and tell us what you find. If they are all from cox.net, that seems to be a persistent problem with that provider right now.

Bruce

First change was on Wednesday, then tweaked yesterday.? The description area is now almost all the way across the banner for me.? I didn't even think about having several lines for the title.? The ones I still have a problem with are one line there and 5 for the description.? I've contacted the posters and asked them to cut down the description some.? BTW, these are continuous lines.? Not sure what happens if there are several short lines used.

Thanks for the update; did he say when this was done? I have had a quick look round some or our albums and I'm not sure that I can spot any difference. I found the other day that omitting a Title (to accommodate more lines from Description) is not allowable (no great surprise there!) so the "5 lines" that you quoted will be subject to how many line the title occupies.

Re: bouncing

Yes, Mike,

I had to unbounce myself from every groups io I amin yesterday, strange but guess it happens.

It was simple.

I just went to my account and enter on bounceing, then there is a link that says something like click here to unbounce your account

And I was.

Re: Photo Albums

I got a reply from Mark yesterday and the available text area has been expanded.? Through some testing, it appears that about 800-1000 characters (5 lines) can be made visible, depending on the size of the monitor, so one of mine still doesn't fit.? My group is plain text, so not sure if it would be the same for groups that allow html.? I suggested that he limit the amount of text that can be entered, but that may be down the road, if at all.

Re: bouncing

I noticed yesterday that a lot of pacbell, att, bellsouth, and sbcglobal addresses were bouncing, all with some variation of the "550 5.2.1 <email address>... Addressee unknown, relay=[66.175.222.12]"? Today they seem to be starting to get through.? There are still a few cox addresses that intermittently bounce.? Hopefully it will all sort itself out.

That communication is unlikely if Mark is not made fully aware of the problem. A quick search on this group points to Cox misbehaving rather a lot since about March; I suggest that an email be sent to [email protected] ensure that he is fully aware of the scale of the problem so that he can (hopefully) take it up with Cox.

In the meantime there is perhaps a way of reducing the incidence of bounces, and that is for those affected to check their Inboxes to make sure that they are not "full". That is not the Inbox of any email client that they may be using, but the Inbox that Cox supplies. Depending on individual settings members' Cox inboxes may not be being deleted automatically (if an email client is used) or members may not be clearing out old emails from time to time. I am not going to suggest that the foregoing is a cure - all but it is definitely worth doing regardless.

Re: bouncing

Not that simple Mike. If a carrier, like Cox, is bouncing or blocking messages from groups.io then the person needing the ¡®link¡¯ won¡¯t get it.? This IS very frustrating.? Right now I have 274 bouncing members out of about 2,100 subscribers or over 10%---the majority are COX customers because Cox feels groups.io is ¡®spamming¡¯ them. I sent two hours on the phone with Cox Tier 2 Date people today and it is taking them a LONG time to escalate this issue.? I have had SOME success by unsubscribing then resubscribing some of the bouncing members, but it doesn¡¯t work on all of them and it takes a LOT of my time.? Seems like there would be some type of communication between groups.io and the bigger carriers like Cox so we wouldn¡¯t suffer through this, but obviously it must not be that simple.

I know there have been some messages here on bouncing. I just had 4 members who are bouncing.
I just wanted to know if something is going on that is making them bounce like this. It is hard to explain to this older members how to unbounce themselves.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Anita?

Re: file uploading #files

Under Admin > Settings, scroll down to the Features section near the bottom.? In the Files area, change the Permissions drop down to "Subscribers can view and upload", then scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Update Group".

file uploading #files

Hello,

We just switched to groups.io from Yahoo. The files transferred fantastically! I looked in the help section and didn't find any info on uploading files. Why can owners upload easily and members cannot? Do we need to make all 20 members owners to be able to upload and move files?

Thank you,

Laura

help -- lost 2FA key

I am the sole owner/admin of a groups.io group (radioastronomy-hams as ewing@...).? I set up two-factor authentication on my account, which was working fine for some time.? But then, my cell phone self-destructed and I could not find a way to recover my Google Authenticator keys.? Of course, foolishly, I had not created backup codes.

So now my account and my group are stranded.? I am the owner, and I have the password, but I can't log in to that account.? How can I re-establish my connection to my account?? (Or claim the ownership of the group using an alternate email address?)

Very sorry!

Re: Mass delete members

Under Admin > Members, there's a Bulk Remove button at the top. That will take you to a page where you can upload a file of the email addresses that you want to remove.? It will need to be a plain text file with one address per line.
