Rumor has it that groups.io itself is using this style sheet, so try applying some of the style definitions in that file to your own html and see if they work in your wiki. I personally never got around to that and am intrigued to hear your results. Regards, Bruce? -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

Re: Bounching at ATT and Yahoo mail addresses
Don,
My group just recently experienced a large number of members who areWhat Duane said. Have you looked at the "Recent Bounces" on the Email Delivery History tab of those members' pages in the Members list? The bounce reason stated by their email service may be informative. Another Interesting bit of information; Yahoo groups shows no bouncingEven if those members are being sent messages from Y!Groups, their bounce tracking has been unreliable at best over the last couple of years. There are both kinds of errors: good addresses that haven't been removed from bouncing status and bad addresses that haven't been added to it. There's also a possibility that Y!Group messages were "whitelisted" against whatever caused the the bouncing of the Groups.io messages. That's where the exact response code and text might be informative. It might be a good Idea for Mark to contact ATT and Yahoo to see if heI believe he does track deliverability issues with the various receiving services, so if that was a widespread event he's probably aware of it. For What It's Worth I don't any members from either service listed as bouncing recently in GMF's Member Activity log, but that's a relatively small sample (10 att.net and 124 yahoo.com members). Re: Why does OBO appear in posts?
Ken,
I believe it’s not so much what Outlook requires, as it is what theFor DMARC-related issues this is correct. Sending services can publish (via the DNS system) policy guidance that receiving services may use whenever they receive a message that has that sender's domain in the From information, yet was delivered to the receiver by some other service (such as a mailing list). When Groups.io receives an inbound group posting it checks the published policy of the sender, and if it is "quarantine" or "reject" Groups.io rewrites the From address so that it has groups.io as the domain, in place of the sender domain. That helps to ensure that receiving members' services deliver the message to Inboxes, rather than Spam or rejecting (bouncing) them. That's because messages that are delivered by a server owned by the domain given in the From address are, generally speaking, regarded as less "spammy" than messages that are delivered by an unrelated server. That said, Outlook and some other services have their own issues with receiving messages that have traveled through mailing lists, especially messages from their own domain. A message claiming to be from their domain that arrives from an external source (e.g. a mailing list) is automatically suspect in their eyes. I used to use totally POP email on Outlook with my AOL addresses, ...If you are talking about messages you send I think the switch from POP to IMAP was coincidental. Those protocols are only used when you fetch messages from your email service; when you post you're using SMTP in either case. If you're talking about how you see messages you receive from the group, that's sounds odd but I suppose not impossible. I would expect your receiving service to apply the OBO rewriting regardless of whether you view the message through their web interface, a POP client, or an IMAP client. Unless it is your client software doing the OBO rewrite. I suppose that too is possible. Re: Why does OBO appear in posts?
Loopy,
This morning I sent email to my group using a different email addressI'd have to see the entire From field from the header to understand this. My experience is that messages posted from gmail addresses don't have any rewriting of their From field. I can understand it being the email provider in one case but in bothDo you mean that you received the message and looked at it in two different email providers? it is always possible that your email provider is rewriting the From field on messages received from lists for its own reasons. The fact that other members of your group are not having the issue tends to point a finger at your receiving email service / user interface. Re: subscribing to calendar issues
Thank you,?Toby. I have used the wiki to help many people subscribe to the calendar. It works fine. Except for the Android users.?
My calendar setting is already at "Subscribers can view, moderators can edit" I realize that cozi and google and ical will receive the same ics file and handle it differently, but I'm wondering if there is some reason why some events show up and others do not. Have we set something on those specific events to make them not appear or appear? I can't figure out what it would be since they were all entered by the same person in the same way.? All members of my group that have tried have been able to successfully subscribe to the calendar either with google or ical... except the android users. There are a couple of them. I will check that they have settings on their end to enable sync and viewing.? Regarding the google refresh, I had my calendar subscribed on google and ical. Both working fine. Two days ago my calendar events disappeared from google on my computer but not on my phone or on ical. I did not change anything. I tried removing the calendar and resubscribing. It appears on the left as one of my calendars but it is empty. What's going on? It was working fine a couple of days ago and I haven't changed anything? Paige |

Bounching at ATT and Yahoo mail addresses
My group just?recently?experienced a large number of members who are bouncing;?all on the same date October?10th.
The total number of bouncing members was 28. It is most interesting that of the 28, ATT was the email service provider for 4, and 21 was to a Yahoo address. I have noticed that ATT is still handling email sent to Yahoo addresses. Another Interesting bit?of information; Yahoo groups shows no bouncing to the same goups.io members. Is this a competitive?restriction by Yahoo and ATT against Groups.io? Don Clark It might be a good Idea for Mark to contact ATT and Yahoo to see if he can have them correct this issue.? |

Re: subscribing to calendar issues
Paige,
There is some info here ->?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Sync-with-your-Google-Calendar Be sure to check the visibility of your calendar in Admin -> Settings Groups.io provides an ics file (feed.ics) via a custom URL.? The ics file contains the events in your group calendar.? What the client (user's calendar program) does with those events is the client's responsibility. There is no mechanism for groups.io to push new/updated events to the client, the client can only poll the server to see if the feed.ics file contains new contents.? Google seems to poll daily. I use Google calendar and an android phone (8.0.1) and can view group events on my PC and phone calendars.? Also check calendar settings to ensure that the subscribed calendar is enabled for sync and viewing (checkboxes in both cases). Some (on google forums) have reported that the refresh is not too reliable and the only workaround I'm aware of is to remove and re-add the calendar. YMMV. Thanks. Toby |

Our group is composed of members that are owners of a specific type of sailboat, and whenever we make a poll it usually is to ask questions about something specific pertaining to that sailboat. Feedback from people via a poll that do not own this type of sailboat, would not be relevant to our members, unless they had owned one of these sailboats in the past. Of course, people do join our group to learn about these sailboats, and to see if there any of them for sale. Once they pass the Pending Subscription part of joining, they can post after one moderated post…and vote in a poll. Non-members are not allowed access into our group, but if we were a public group it wouldn’t matter who posted or voted in a poll. ? Don ? |

A group Owner, or Moderator (with permission), controls if a Poll is created and what the choices are, which means a Poll is not necessarily unbiased. So having an option to limit which Subscribers/Members are permitted to vote is not a question of fairness. However the inability to allow all Subscribers/Members to vote is a restriction without merit.
?
BTW, I would think the most difficult thing might be to prevent any person from voting more than once (by having more than one subscribed email address), but I don’t think anyone is suggesting that should be a feature.
?
> Maybe all members should be able to vote in a poll no matter what their posting privileges are in your group, but not in my group. Until a member posts at least one thing for me to approve, so I can try and determine they are not going to be a problem, they don’t get to participate in polls or posting to the group.

A group used for announcements (only Moderators can post) might want to poll (all) their members
